    It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

    Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

    Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

     
    Harrowing new video footage reveals the moment a mob of angry Massachusetts residents descended on federal immigration agents and attempted to thwart their operation to detain a woman with her family.

    Neighbors spotted Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials intercepting a mother who was with her teen daughter and her newborn baby at about 11:15 a.m. Thursday on Eureka Street in Worcester. The father was detained by ICE on Wednesday, according to the local immigration justice network LUCE.

    The arrests come just weeks after ICE’s acting Director Todd Lyons announced the agency had been preparing for a second “surge” in arrests in the Greater Boston area, amid President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

    The dramatic video footage, which has since gone viral online, was captured by a witness at the scene and shows the woman clinging to her infant child as ICE agents attempt to arrest her.

    A swarm of 25 locals gathered, with one heard demanding to see identification and a warrant and calling to stop the chaos. “We don’t have to show you anything,” an ICE agent reportedly told the crowd.

    Immigration officials called upon officers from the Worcester police for backup, with the department describing in a statement how the “unruly” crowd “put their hands on federal agents and Worcester officers.”

    The woman, whose neighbors told Boston 25 is of Brazilian descent, gave her baby to her 16-year-old daughter as she was taken into custody.

    The teen then tried to stop the ICE vehicle from leaving by standing in front of it, while holding the baby.

    After handing the newborn to a neighbor, the daughter kicked the car, police said. The girl managed to initially evade police officers, who are then seen chasing and restraining her on the ground as she screams, according to separate footage captured by NBC Boston............

    The Trump administration has engaged the United Nations migration team to help enact its self-deportation program for undocumented immigrants.

    The UN agency for migration has championed migrant safety across the world, but is now being put at the epicenter of President Donald Trump’s attempt to restrict illegal migration.

    Officials at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement that the agency will work to ensure that the processremains safe and dignified, according to The Washington Post. It stressed that it would help with “assisted voluntary returns,” and not with deportations.

    Trump has offered $1,000 to unauthorized immigrants who leave the U.S. of their own accord, and he has issued threats of fines and prison time to those who remain in the U.S……

    New York City is expecting 2 million fewer international tourists this year amid concerns over President Donald Trump’s anti-immigration and trade tariff policies, according to a new report.

    City officials revised their December forecast, which estimated 14.6 million foreign tourists would visit in 2025, down to 12.1 million, according to a report released by New York City Tourism and Conventions, the city’s tourism agency.

    Including both domestic and foreign visitors, the city expects to see 3.5 million fewer in total compared to the 67.7 million it previously predicted.


    “We are in uncertain times and there are more questions than answers,” Julie Coker, the agency’s CEO said, emphasizing that “New York City is still the most welcoming, inclusive and diverse city in the world.”……

    Their bigoted zeal to “get rid of” brown people is sickening. They don’t even stop to think that these people are contributing to our society. They are paying taxes, own small businesses, provide labor that nobody else wants to do. It’s unnecessarily cruel and pointless.

    They’re not sweeping up criminals, they’re kidnapping our neighbors and friends.
     
    On the mayor being arrested - I read that the site is an old jail that was closed due to unsafe conditions. ICE opened it with zero transparency about how they fixed any of the issues with the building. The mayor has been trying to get ICE to let him visit to verify that the people are being held in safe and humane surroundings. I also read that when they asked him (and others) to leave, they did. But he was called back inside the barrier, he thought to discuss the matter, and that’s when they arrested him. That they had been on the phone with somebody just before they pulled that maneuver.

    Most of my old friends in Tennessee are furious—and many of them had voted Republican for years. Never again, they say. They believed Trump was targeting criminals, not their friends and neighbors. Now, they’ve learned a hard lesson. This administration is driving away "ordinary" Republicans in large numbers. It’s a shame they didn’t take his words seriously before the election, when he openly told the country exactly what he intended to do.

    Some of them will - some did not vote last time due to TN being overwhelmingly Red but never again. Some are even starting to organize
