Not long ago Kari Lake proclaimed Arizona's abortion law was a great law and wanted it the law of the state.

Now that she has gotten her way, she is lobbying for it to be repealed.

As I have been saying since 2022, the overwhelming vast majority of women aren't going to vote for the man who proudly boasts that he got rid of Roe V. Wade. Nor are those women going to vote for a forced birther politician.

Turns out, republican belief in "pro life" was all just lies to get votes. Who is surprised? I sure am not.

How many forced birthers will do the same about face?

Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake is actively lobbying state lawmakers to overturn a 160-year-old law she once supported that bans abortion in almost all cases, a source with knowledge of her efforts told CNN.

CNN) - Before becoming the Trump-backed Republican nominee for Michigan secretary of state, Kristina Karamo said that abortion is "child sacrifice" and a "satanic practice."…,

"When people in other cultures, when they engage in child sacrifice, they didn't just sacrifice the child for the sake of bloodshed," Karamo said later in the episode. "They sacrificed the child cuz they were hoping to get prosperity and that's precisely why people have abortion now. 'Because I'm not ready. I don't wanna have a baby. I don't feel like it. I don't have time. I wanna make more money. I want my freedom.' So you're sacrificing that child hoping to get something out of their death, which is your freedom, your happiness, your prosperity."

In another comment, Karamo called abortion the "the greatest crime of our nation's history."……..

Folks, this is what early 1930's Germany looked like. Uneducated morons spewing insanity that somehow catches the attention of a sufficient amount of the electorate allowing them to take over.

…..The New York Times reports, “There are no allowances for victims of rape or incest in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee or Texas.”

In Idaho, a woman would have to file a police report to obtain an abortion, something virtually impossible for incest victims and others who live in fear of their attackers.

The monstrous cruelty of such bills shows how little many conservatives care about the well-being of women and girls who have already experienced the unbelievable trauma of sexual violence.

    But it gets worse.

Many states no longer consider exceptions for the health of the woman or create dangerous uncertainty that puts her life at risk. In the real medical world, where doctors and patients make decisions based on probabilities, the result of such abortion laws can be deadly for women.

If abortion is legal only with the “imminent” risk of death, women can be left in peril, facing what can become fatal complications later in pregnancy — when the chances of survival have declined.

In Tennessee, for example, doctors are supposed to prove the woman couldn’t have lived without an abortion.

(They must prove “the abortion was necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman or to prevent serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman.”)……

It’s pretty obvious they think women are inferior disposable beings. What’s the word used by one of the MAGA cult politicians? Vessels, I think. Just vessels. And if some have to die, that’s no big deal.

What baffles me is these women leading that Trumper whacko train. I guess self loathing is a real thing.

They stand with the cause only until they themselves or their daughters get raped and want or need an abortion. Then, something has to be done.

Sure, they will go to another state and perform what’s necessary. Because many think that it doesn’t really apply to them!

Then they will go back to being idiots again!

I definitely think that's true - and states that enact strong abortion prohibitions are going to see their out-of-state college enrollments drop and they're going to see companies with recruiting problems.

I'm just saying I don't see how it changes demographics. It doesn't make a blue state turn red.

What it does is ensure red states get redder during a time where they already wield a disproportionate amount of power.
Texas and Florida could be emptied of all Democratic voters and they'd still have the same number of electoral votes, Senators and congressmen.
Add in those technically blue or purple states with GOP controlled state legislatures and driving out just a few thousand Dem voters can swing national power by a huge margin.

good article and I know it's not the point of the article but I wonder how the Republican dads feel

I noticed the title was Republican moms apologize and not Republican parents apologize
    =============================================
When Vanessa Brangi, a 37-year-old in New Jersey, visited her mom to celebrate her 65th birthday over the last weekend in June, she didn’t hide that she was in a bad mood.

“I walked in the house, and she’s like, ‘How are you?’ ” Brangi remembered. “I flat-out said, ‘I guess I’m not a free person anymore.’ ”

Brangi was bemoaning the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade in the days prior. Politics have frequently been a source of strife between her and her right-leaning mother, but this time, her mother surprised her.

“When she said, ‘I agree. I think women need to be the one to make this choice,’ I was honestly shocked,” Brangi said. “I thought she was pretty far gone.”

Brangi is one of many twenty- and thirtysomethings around the country who have seen a different side of their mothers in the days since the Supreme Court struck down Americans’ constitutional right to an abortion.

More used to avoidance and disagreement about politics, some liberal adult kids are finding that their conservative mothers are actually in agreement with them when it comes to abortion—in some cases so staunchly that they’re reconsidering how they’re voting.

Take it from Chad, a 23-year-old in Arkansas who didn’t want to use his last name. “Two weeks ago, we had a conversation about—I think it was the Jan. 6 commission,” he said of his mom, who is 58. “She threw out the comment of, ‘Not all Republicans are bad.’ And now two weeks later, she’s telling me she’s probably never going to vote for another Republican, even in our state.”............

Caylie Smith, a 29-year-old in Los Angeles, always knew her mother, 57, supported abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, and gun control. But her parents have also always voted for Republicans despite those things, mostly because they thought Republicans were better on the economy. Not anymore, Smith told me.

“This is the thing that got her to change her mind,” she said. “Once this happened, I saw the change in her. She was like, ‘OK, enough is enough. This has gone way too far.’ ”

Smith said that she thinks part of what pushed her mother in this direction is seeing how upset she and her siblings are. In a text to her, her mom wrote, “I want you to know we love you and are totally on your side and if we need to march in the streets with you we will.”

“I didn’t really see that happening,” Smith said. “This is the first time I’ve really seen her this passionate.”............

Not sure if this goes here or to the Biden thread. Either way, backroom deal or not, I don't like this one bit...
