On January 20 at 12:00pm EST, Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. And security has never been higher - for fear of violence caused by domestic terrorists and insurrectionists.

This ‘football’ scenario makes me way more nervous than the Saints game last weekend did

Trump makes logistical nightmare for nuclear codes by leaving DC early

I thought they said that they would have a second presidential football for Biden and that at noon, Trump's would go inactive as will the biscuit he has. I'm paying attention to the wrong people...:idunno:

    That’s exactly what it says.

i just worry about what ideas Trump will get overnight, or tomorrow morning, while he still has it.

Agreed.. I’m way more concerned about that, at this point, than i am about Trump launching a nuke.

All that needs to happen is for one pilot to turn his F-15 toward the Capitol and launch an alpha strike moments before Biden takes the oath.

I was thinking that one of these 25,000 weekend warrior National Guardsmen (whom they had nowhere near enough time to vet properly) would just try to be ‘hero’ and take out Biden or Harris... but your scenario sounds more devious and plausible.

I just had a disturbing flashback to the season six finale of Game of Thrones. With Trump safely in Florida, all of his enemies assembled in the same place (Biden, Obama, Pelosi, Pence, etc.), I’m sure he’d love to pull a Cersei Lannister.

That's what I thought about the 6th, too. Except his catspaws were too clueless to get the job done.

I’ve been the ultimate pessimist for years, but I believe now that enough has been done that this will be a largely peaceful celebration of the inauguration of a new president.

25,000 troops and multiple perimeters are going to be too much for any protests to try to overcome.

I don’t think state Capitol protests will amount to much because too many people have realized that playing stupid games gets you stupid prizes with the FBI arresting people left and right.

I believe today is going to be a good day.
