More than a month after House Republicans surprised Washington by advancing their framework for Trump’s $4.5 trillion in tax breaks and $2 trillion in spending cuts, Senate Republicans voted Thursday to start working on their version. The largely party-line vote, 52-48, sets the stage for a potential Senate all-nighter Friday spilling into the weekend.

I would love to read that article if you can find it... And find out more about the source
Iirc, it was from Dissent magazine. I remembered that after I posted.

I found the article. The Dissent article is partly based on data from 2010-2014 and the claim about the patents came from a Bloomberg article from 2018 covering the period 2010-2015. That makes the data and the conclusions based on those data between 9-15 years old, and shows very little about the current technological progress in China.

I don’t think you see the big picture here. 1980 was the decade where productivity started outpacing US worker income. This was by design or if you prefer it was by an inability to come to terms with an economic design to cannibalize US markets to reap as much profit out of it as possible before the inevitable collapse

The West, primarily USA created China, to be specific our capitalists created China. They said we will give you our manufacturing jobs, you take the pollution, reap the rewards and feed us, with cheap goods.

We’ll take care our disenfranchised workers by feeding them Kool-Aid about how it’s impossible to give them the good life due to the generous social cost that we created by shipping 20m jobs plus high paying jobsout of the country. And now China is exceedingly wealthy as the money for science and research as we cut ours.

Gotta keep those profits up baby for, the B’s and lesser extent the M’s.. We’ll make noises about bring manufacturing back, but we all know that’s not gonna happen because that cost us our profits.I mean, why do that infrastructure is already set up in China we’ve got workforce of experienced people are willing to work for less than American workers. And now we’re in the process of chopping our social safety nuts cause we just can’t afford those anymore. It’s time to wake up and smell the roses, dude, we’re screwed.
China's economy is a house of cards filled with smoke and mirrors too. The reason they have gotten so aggressive on the pacific waters is to expand their harvest of seafood. They are barely able to feed their people and no political regime can survive billions of people angry because they're hungry.

The people who live in almost all of the "red" states who helped Trump get re-elected are going to suffer the most from this bill in regards to food and healthcare. This bill sends their be left behind and forgotten into hyperdrive. Watch what happens next. Sociopath Trump and his Republicans will blame an "other/them" for their suffering and do everything they can to rile them up into mass murdering. It's the next play in a very old sinister and sadistic playbook. Attempting to run the play doesn't mean they succeed. The good news is that when the play doesn't succeed, it tends to blow up in the face of who's trying to run it.

I read that most of the Medicaid cuts won’t take effect until after the midterms - they know how bad it will be. I assume these closures that are already happening were due to happen whether this bill passed or not.
I don't think they have the patience to not start hacking right away, but even if they do, most people aren't as dumb and gullible as Trump and his Republicans think they are. That's the reason Republicans stopped having town halls in heavily Republican areas. Most voters, including most traditional Republican voters, so this coming from a mile away and have been warning Trump and the Republicans not to do this. The Republicans were so embarrassed by the preemptive backlash (oxymoron, I know) from voters that they lied to the public, and probably to themselves, that the angry people at the town halls were all paid agitators and not actually Republican voters.

So in Chris Cuomo's mind, did people with black skin make the south adopt Jim Crow laws? Chris is pissed, because he and his brother grow more relevant to Democrats with each passing day. Being the narcissists they both are, the will say and do whatever gets them the attention they are addicted to.

    Calling it now.
The republicans have just handed the midterms and 2028 to the Dems.
The only way I see the Republicans keeping control over both chambers is if they make a direct, active assault against the elections. I think that would also ultimately end with Trump and his Republicans losing control.

The Medicaid cuts won't take effect until after the midterm election. They'll gaslight the average American by telling them it hasn't happened yet, and will never happen, because the Democrats were lying. They'll believe it.

Most people that I know are too stupid to understand what happened today.

What gives me hope is that congressional Republicans had to stop having town halls, because their votes showed up in force and railed against them making these very cuts. I don't think they will be able to fool Democratic and Independent voters and it looks like they aren't fooling a lot of Republican voters either.

The fact that some of the cuts don't go into effect until after the midterm could be turned to advantage. Candidates should find out what the bill cuts that's the most important to their voters and should doggedly hammer on one message alone going roughly like this, "these things that are the most important to you are about to be cut and the only way to keep them from being cut is to vote for me so I could do everything I can to reverse these cuts and fight to give you more of what's most important to you."

Another thing that gives me hope is that Musk now has a grudge against all things Trump and he's never dropped a grudge. If he turns on Trump's Republicans to hit Trump, then he will keep the Republicans from successfully duping the majority of voters.

So I just got this nice piece of email propaganda, which says in the fine print that it was produced with taxpayer funding. From the official SSA account with all the “trimmings”. So no, I am not counting on any big swings in the midterms at this point. The admin has no scruples, no ethics or morals. They will lie and lie and a lot of people will believe the lies.

“The Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans.

The bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, providing meaningful and immediate relief to seniors who have spent a lifetime contributing to our nation's economy.

“This is a historic step forward for America’s seniors,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano. “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By significantly reducing the tax burden on benefits, this legislation reaffirms President Trump’s promise to protect Social Security and helps ensure that seniors can better enjoy the retirement they’ve earned."

The new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on Social Security benefits for most beneficiaries, providing relief to individuals and couples. Additionally, it provides an enhanced deduction for taxpayers aged 65 and older, ensuring that retirees can keep more of what they have earned.

Social Security remains committed to providing timely, accurate information to the public and will continue working closely with federal partners to ensure beneficiaries understand how this legislation may affect them.”

Plus various GOP liars - Johnson being one of the worst - are out there claiming they aren’t cutting Medicaid at all. Just so condescending. Mike Johnson has such a smug smirk as he lies and lies.
Is that look smug smirk? I'd been thinking he'd eaten a booger.

2025 taxes will have to be filed no later than October of 2026. The vast majority of people are going to see first hand the tax relief is a lie. Tax relief doesn't usually mean as much to voters as the cost of living. I don't see anyway the cost of living doesn't start skyrocketing between now and Nov 2026. The Republicans won't be able to deceive the vast majority of Americans that they aren't worse off.

That's not actually in the bill from what I heard. If that's true, people will see for themselves before Nov 2026 that they got know tax relief on their social security benefits.

I think Trump and his Republicans are insanely delirious with hubris. They think they can just lie their way out of anything including this. I don't think they can and I think the more they lie to people about things that the people see with their own bank accounts aren't true, the more angry and motivated those people will be to vote against them.
