I think the government forcing me to wear a mask that they knew was inadequate was wrong. Period. And make no mistake. They knew these masks were inadequate. This isn’t then first airborne virus we encountered. They knew early on who was at risk and who was low risk. All you had to do was walk into an emergency room or intensive care and ask a pulmonologist. They could tell you chapter and verse who was dying and why. It wasn’t school kids or twenty/thirty/forty somethings.

So scaring the crap out of the entire population instead of focusing resources on those folks at risk was IMO ineffective.

You doubt me? When they rolled out the vaccines, who was first in line? Not school kids. Not folks under 50. Older folks and people with co morbidities. They knew who was at risk and choose to attempt to micromanage the behavior of the entire population including the 85 percent who were not high risk.
dude bow out. You have been buried here. just saying

They way you view and frame all of this is so depressing and indicative or right wing outrage culture. It's all misplaced anger, jumbled timelines, irrelevant and wrong facts/data, and distrust of any institution trying to contain the pandemic.

Maybe if I shared this post with my healthy 30-year old friend who contracted COVID in March of 2020 and spent 6-months in the hospital, one of those in a medical coma, and still dealing with Long COVID symptoms today, it will make him feel better to know that is was only old people who were getting COVID and dying.

And again, it was your state/local government forcing you to wear a mask. Why aren't you taking all of this anger out on Republicans in Florida? You still seem to keep voting for them. :idunno:

Two weeks since any updates from HHS. These weekly reports have been coming out without interruption since the 1950’s.

My daughter is an RN that worked the covid ward. One of the first patients she lost was an 18 year old all district
football player who had committed to ole Ms. Yes these right wing nut jobs have no clue on this subject

It’s so infuriating to see them repeat lies so confidently. Just flat out lies, and smears of good people who were trying their best to save everyone, even them.

So out 1,146,774 total fatalities, 1,696 were aged 0-17. That’s 1/10 of a percent. Covid was not a threat to children. Add in 18-29 at 7,030 and that makes 7/10 of a percent. Not a threat. Add in 30-39 at 19,886 and you’re 2.5%. Age 49 gets you to 6.5%. So 73.5% we’re 50 or older. Add in that on average there were 4 or more co morbidities it’s not hard to see we could have managed it in a much more practical manner. It was old and heavily health impaired that needed to be the focus. Kids should have been in school.

you miss then kids would have spread it even more. Plus how would we know kids would be fine mostly? but all is good till it is your kid that dies.

Tell that to the people who died. Covid was a serious threat to all ages

Also kids were especially vulnerable to long covid. They may not have died but their lives was changed and for some permanently

One study indicated 2% to 10% of infected children might experience long-term symptoms others up to 5%-10%

Molteni, E., Sudre, C. H., Canas, L. S., et al. (2021). "Illness duration and symptom profile in symptomatic UK school-aged children tested for SARS-CoV-2." The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health.

You are taking hindsight and blaming people for not being able to see into the future. That’s pretty dim, if you ask me.

Plus, I can assure you that the fatality rate at the beginning of the pandemic bears no resemblance to the fatality rate now.

How do people like you have this crazy selective memory? Were you totally oblivious to what was happening or are you just memory-holing reality to push your own narrative?

It's for sure selective memory. Sendai clearly memory holed school closing started in 2020 under Trump. It also happened in pretty much every red state. That was a conserative policy.

Fatality rates were clear by June/July/August. Older with health infirmities were 90+ percent of the fatalities. We were back in school by late August because of the obvious data.

We closed school as soon as the Governor issued the order. Went to remote. Rather effectively.

But by mid summer, with the data available, we were convinced we could reopen in school learning with precautions. All things considered it went pretty good. By spring it was masks off during outdoor sports.

Well, the CDC data clearly says otherwise.
Older people die more than younger ones. This is not earth shattering news.

It still doesn't change the fact covid didn't discriminate. I lost 5 friends who believed they'd
be in the 99% that wouldn't die.

Wyoming had one of the highest covid mortality rates. They are also the reddest state in the nation. How do you
    explain this?

You realize I have no idea if you live in blue or red state based off of this response.
