I realize the title is inflammatory (to some), but in this instance it's well warranted. His attacks and mocking of Greta Thunberg are disgusting and unacceptable. I know we're just supposed to ignore him because he does this with everybody, but we shouldn't. There is no time and place where we should accept a US President mocking a 16 year old minor. NEVER! For any reason. If you don't have a problem with this, there's a problem with you.

Her activism for climate change and the fact that it irks Trump is irrelevant to how she should be treated, especially publicly by a US President.

This is what Trump represents to the world. This is the face they see when they think of America now, a 70-year old man attacking a 16-year old girl concerned about her future and the future of the planet she lives on. This is one of the main reasons he needs to go.

    Question:

Where are all those people who were positively OUTRAGED that a witness would attack a child by stating, "Donald Trump can name his son 'Baron,' but he can't make him a Baron"
Were they outraged when they attacked a 16 yr old who was doing nothing but waiting for a bus at the steps of Lincoln memorial who was then called a racist and made a household name because he was easy prey and they did not like the hat he was wearing?

Oh yea, but Greta is off limits because ....

My theory is that Trump was triggered by Greta - of all people! - being named person of the year instead of him. His NPD just can't tolerate such an insult.

My back up theory is that the man is simply a jack arse.

That's a cop out, dude. You engaged, people engaged back, and now you selectively address posts that let you push your talking points while ignoring questions that might actually promote discussion.
This forum has a feature that allows everybody to selectively choose posters whose posts they do not wish to see or respond to.
So, what you're calling "a cop out" may simply be a case of the use of this feature.

She's St. Joan of Arc? :9:

Yes, all of those people that @FullMonte was referring to were positively outraged over the 16 year old kid you are talking about.

They have very selective outrage. When it's their/your side, they get outraged. When it's not your/their side, they don't.

    Answer:

The comment about Barron had nothing to do with the child. False equivalency, yet again.

I wonder if any on the right want to acknowledge that this was a totally and completely unsolicited attack. Greta didn't speak his name or direct any statements at him. It was solely because she won Time's "Person of the Year". They weren't in the same place or even continent.

Trump was just so full or anger/envy that he couldn't contain himself and ignore it. Towards a 16 year old girl.

Let that sink in for a minute. That's the sum of our current president.

Are you saying it’s ok for adults to publicly attack children or not?

    Your position seems unclear.

St. Joan was burned at the stake, right? Well . . .

"She's wonderful and she's impervious to people slagging her off. She's sort of the Joan of Arc of the environment. I think she needs a big white horse.""

Yes, even CounterPunch got into the comparisons.
Look, if you're going to put a kid in the historical ranks with the likes of St. Joan, don't be surprised when she gets treated like St. Joan.

Was it your intention to quote my post?
It was my intention to continue the train of thought beginning with Post 55 . . . "why", continuing with Post 58 . . . "because", and onward through Post 64 .. . "attack" leading up to my post 65 . . . "burned at the stake." Then, for clarity's sake, I circled back and added links to articles comparing Greta to St. Joan going back to as far as January of last year by those who supported her efforts. :9:

BTW - I was raised Baptist, but always admired the story of St. Joan and her unshakable faith. But, let's not forget how that ended, at least on this mortal earth.

If I had replaced “attack” with “disparage” or “mock”, would you have been able to provide a substantive response, or would your inner child’s craving for snark have still overwhelmed ypu?

I would have still cited all the comparisons that were being made between this teenaged girl and the most venerated teenaged girl in Christendom and the irony that they all seem to omit her demise.
My response was highly substantive and relevant.

Did someone in this thread make a comparison to girl Jesus?

Are you trying to get someone to defend someone else’s comparison when they haven’t stated they support it?

No offense, but it made me picture a troll in a deer stand looking down at a straw man waiting for his game to take the bait.
