I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Alternate reality again. If they were there - then this is just a "we didnt do anything... it was the other people who were bad"

The best we can hope for is that today becomes the ultimate super spreader event.. It would be poetic justice if it were only the MAGA small hands losers who died as a result of this, but unfortunately that’s not the way it works with Covid.

That is the first time I saw it was a pro Trump person who shot her.
Washington post found out who did the shooting and didn't want to say, when on air, because they want to publish it. Not sure if it's out yet or not.

My question is: When does the counting of the electoral ballots resume? If not immediately, then i hate to say it but Trump and his supporters have truly won the day.
McConnell wants to get back to it tonight.

My guess is once the curfew hits in a few minutes, they'll try to resume. Looks like Police have a perimeter.

I am curious - what should happen to people that enter the US Capitol with the intention of attacking Senators and Congressmen other than to be shot on sight?

if I would rush the capital with weapons I would be put down quickly. Anyone in this thread would be. So why should those trying to overturn our government and the willof the people be granted any other fate? I am genuinely curious why they deserve special treatment?

Yep busses of cops keep flowing in they now have the man power that for some reason was not activated days in advance. It is not like this was not planned for months.
