I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

    This guy....

    Facebook took his video down.

Twitter needs to remove him. This is ridiculous.

Yeah, get rid of 230. Big tech needs consequences so they won't allow things like this. (I'm just venting, but I might just mean it).

People wishing for the death of other people is just not acceptable, especially here. Some pretty dark comments in this thread. I totally get the frustration, but let's not let this get the best of us. We should be better than the idiots we're pointing fingers at.

Being better than those idiots is what got us here in the first place.

Nice, most of them are dumb enough to not wear masks. Should make identifying them and arresting them or suing them for destruction of property. Like the guy taking his time to get all that stuff wet with his bottled water.

I mean, isnt it a felony to simply POSSESS a weapon in DC? Yes, I’m certain i read that somewhere.. So anyone with a gun should at the very least be arrested immediately.

And if we, a bunch of schlubs on a message board, knew that today’s riot was predictable- then why wasnt the Nat’l Guard and the like at the ready?

No, it's not a felony to possess/own a gun in DC. There is a lengthy process to own one legally. But it is a felony to bring one into the city, and carry on your person in public.

But yes, anyone packing would be immediately arrested if police gets wind of it. There were several arrested earlier today and this week for exactly that.

So we even know who she was yet.

I would tone it down she could have been a federal employee.

I don't wish death on any of them.

I do want all of them in jail a long time and Donald impeached so he can't blanket pardon anyone
I’d like Trump charged with inciting a riot. It will be a hoot when his sycophants who engaged in this riot get locked up thinking they’re going to be charged with criminal mischief or trespass, but find themselves instead charged with sedition.

Trump will pardon them all in a blanket pardon before he leaves office.

Unfortunately if Trump had just told people to go home and eschew violence, they wouldn't have listened. He needed to empathize with them first to keep them from tuning even him out. He needed to validate them to get them to listen. It won't eliminate the longer term problem, but Trump's video served to quell the immediate problem. Some still won't listen, but it appears that he got many to listen.

    Come on, man!
