I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Josh Hawley lying about his home being vandalized by "Antifa." The whole thing was live-streamed by the protesters. The "vandalism" was that they left a copy of the constitution on his doorstep. I don't know if he'll ever recover. So brave.

It is a pretty radical document for someone like him.

Josh Hawley is a treasonweasel. And those guys were anything but antifa, lol. What a maroon!

oh, and saw this, meaning that after Pence kissed Trump’s arse for 4-5 years, Trump is going to ruin him because he can’t steal the election for Trump. Good.

Maybe it's just me, and I'm no constitutional scholar, but I highly doubt the Founding Fathers intended to give an incumbent VP the power to overturn an election won by the challenger.

    It's not just you.

I hope it just goes down in history as "interesting" but tomorrow is going to be one of the most intense challenges to American constitutional democracy in over 100 years. They're wrong and they're going to end up on the wrong side of history - but that isn't going to stop them from doing it.

Agreed. I hope it not only fails but that each and every politician going along with this outrage pays a steep price at some point.

Saw a list on tv of over two dozen R senators who have publicly stated they will vote to certify the election. This is backfiring, imo. Makes the R’s that are responsible for this stunt look weak and stupid, imo. All of them will have this used against them in their next campaign.

My friend's cultist brother and his friend drove up to DC overnight with guns and body armor.. and quite assuredly they are not alone.. shirt is an absolute tinder box of nutjobs.

Something I recently saw that summed it up best....reading the statement from Cruz and others, their rationale for challenging the election is that the election " unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities."

Yep....they are challenging the election, not because of proven fraud, or evidence of fraud....but because of ALLEGATIONS of fraud.

back then weren't the President and Vice President 2 separate tickets? You could have 2 separate parties in the White House?
