Control of the Senate is on the line. Assuming the current numbers will stand on recount, only 1.9% of the vote (90,295 votes) separated Republican incumbent David Perdue from his Democratic challenger, Jon Ossof. The third place Libertarian candidate received 2.3% of the vote (144,566 votes). In the special election, Raphael Warnock led the pack with 32.9% of the vote trailed by incumbent Kelly Loeffler who received 25.9% of the vote. Doug Collins, the other major GOP candidate, finished with 20% of the vote. Various other Democrat candidates finished with a combined 15.5% of the vote. Various other GOP candidates finished with 3.4% and roughly 2% for independent candidates.

Andrew Yang has posted that he will be moving to Georgia to help campaign for Ossof and Warnock.

These are the most important races of the year now..Democrats need a full court press in Georgia from now till January, otherwise we're looking at a Biden presidency that could have it's hands tied behind it's back.

    She's indispensable

I'm not really a Democrat, though I'm probably one for the next few years from a practical standpoint because I can never vote for anyone who excused or enabled Trump.

However, if Stacey isn't given the keys to the DNC I say we riot, but a nice riot. You know, like, let's throw snowballs while screaming, or something.

I'm down. Typically we riot at Sonic, but snowballs are a-ok with me.

All things being equal, Warnock strikes me as simply a better person than Loeffler. Perdue obviously panders to his base but I've never understood what the DNC sees in Ossof. Given the importance of these elections I'm certain it will fall down party lines. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent in these races and it is going to get ugly. A lot of independents might be swayed by the 'we need a check on Biden' argument the GOP will no doubt hammer over and over again. "OMG Bernie and AOC will enable Biden to destroy America!!!" Something like that.

Unless she doesn't want to be the head of the DNC.

You have 2 GOP Senators that effectively leveraged inside knowledge that the American people were about to be devastated by a global pandemic to manage their stock portfolios. It's repugnant, and frankly should be criminal. They should both be getting the Martha Stewart treatment, not running for office.

If it weren't for the Rural-Urban split in America these runoffs would be a slam dunk. However, you can't sink low enough to overcome the strength of grievance populism with a large segment of this country.

I'm amazed that this kind of insider trading isn't already illegal. It's immoral in any case.

So now the two R senators are calling for the resignation of the R Secretary of State in GA. Their statement sounded a lot like: we didn’t want the election to turn out like it did, so fire somebody.

Seriously though, how stupid is it to pick a fight with the SOS right before the runoff election?

I do like Stacey Abrams chances of getting out enough voters to defeat both of them. 🤞🏻

I was initially thinking that I'd rather see the Republicans win, but I'm done with that. Fork em. I just don't care. I'm kinda thinking though, I absolutely want Loeffler out. She's slime. I hope she loses convincingly. I'm ambivalent on the other race though. If Perdue wins and not Loeffler, the Democrats tie and take control of the agenda with Harris' tiebreaker vote. Then Manchin can sort of be the guy in the middle preventing the removal of the filibuster and expending the courts, neither of which I support.

This will be interesting to watch. Trump doesn’t seem interested in coming out from his bunker and campaigning for anyone else. If his voters stay home the Democrats could have a chance.

Actually, if Perdue wins and Loeffler loses and the two Senate runoff races are split, that would give Republicans a 51-49 Senate advantage, a +1 seat margin, to the Democrats 49. Not completely 50/50 but still a razor-thin margin lead that GOP can use for the next two years at least can use to block or obstruct some of Biden's modest legislation, saying nothing about his more ambitious legislation which even with a 50/50 split, GOP legislators still might try and use PR tactics or edgy leftover Trumpish populism to stall or curry popular opinion.

This is a GA voter who called into Rush literally crying about the "stolen election". He is upset with the lack of support from the GOP.
