Where did I say it's no big deal? I didn't come close to saying that. And I asked you to source your claim about military personnel knowingly heeding an illegal order. Until you cite your source, I'm gonna assume it's not true. Iirc, there were questions about who gave the order and who carried out those orders. If Trump told Barr to give the order to clear out the street, Barr can't tell soldiers what to do. Who exactly where the agents who cleared the streets? I had originally thought they were agents under one of the agencies under the DOJ. The military, unless they're national guard, are not subject to orders outside their chain of command. I haven't read anything about the military participating in the removal of the protesters in DC. I want to say it might have been the national guard because that was the rumor, but Trump would have needed the approval of the governor, which I'm drawing a blank on. That whole episode was a shirt-show and I'm not recalling any military involvement in that.

The military has said they don't know who gave the orders. That's not comforting at all.

The military has said they didn't participate, which they clarified to mean that their troops weren't directly involved in the assault of any of the protestors. That means they didn't actually shoot or push anyone around.

They have not denied and cannot deny the confirmations that they provided logistical support. That support is an illegal form of participation.

It's all a moot point, because I don't think Trump will ever actually give the order or be allowed to give the order to deploy a nuclear weapon. That said, the system is not as safeguarded as people think. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 the most safe, I'd give it a 7.

If not, then i dont understand why you would make that post in a thread about possibly invoking the 25th on Donald Trump... And if you DO think that Pelosi is a bigger threat than Trump, then would you mind expounding on that?

No. I just think Pelosi has been a bad 'figurehead' for the DNC. As far as how that relates to the thread, her tactic of pushing the 25th Amendment at this point isn't particularly helpful and only plays into the conspiracy theories.

So, I think the articles are misleading, not to mention the thread title. There is a bill from a democratic House member that was proposed a while ago and they are dusting it off. As I understand it, the purpose of the bill is to codify the use of the 25th Amendment. I think it establishes a bipartisan council to evaluate the president’s health. I did not spend much time on the article, just skimmed the first of it.

I think this thread is much ado about nothing, whether Pelosi put it out there in such a way to needle Trump, or the two article authors took some liberties, I don’t know.

I deal with the Covid patients at work and I've never seen those kind of extreme side effects in one single patient.

Just because you haven't seen a patient with an adverse side effect doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. If you see 2 patients on long term corticosteroids and none of them develop erratic behaviors doesn't mean that the millions of others didn't. You should go back and read your pharmacology books again.

Honestly, I'm not seeing any significant change in his behavior. He's been out of his mind for at least 20 years. He's behaving just as crazy and unhinged as he has on at least a dozen other points of his presidency.

I want this over for good. I don't want to give him any way out.

I seem to recall there was discussion about doing just that back on the old PDB. What is sad really is how all the republicans were so adamantly against him during campaign, but once elected, all that disappeared. If Obama had said or done even 1/10th of the things Trump has, they would have rallied to the call of removing him. But they seemingly all lost their spines at the exact same moment, and let Trump do whatever he pleased

Even if Biden is elected, Trump will still be president until January 20th. You don't think he's going to tank the country as hard as he can with how personally he takes everything?

That 10 point national lead is in the popular vote which doesn't mean shirt as we saw in 2016. It's realistically 4-5%. And we've already been told and seen evidence of Trump accepting foreign meddling in 2016 and again in 2020.

For whatever it's worth, some Republicans are calling Pelosi's proposal a coup attempt. This morning in a presser, Pelosi was trying to make the case that Congress can actually remove the President based on the wording of the 25th Amendment.

And yeah, coup is the c word. I wouldn't have invoked it, but it's being said. Like a said earlier, this is a total distraction. Why do it a few weeks before the election? Makes no sense.

I think you’re missing the point.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of politics knows that Pelosi and the Democrats alone cant remove this President, even though most with half a brain realize that he’s crazier than a ****house rat... But she’s floating the idea out there, getting people to talk about it (successfully- as demonstrated by this thread, as well as countless other message boards and news articles).. It’s bothering the obese orange toddler to the point where now he wants to have a medical evaluation on national tv by yet another quack ‘doctor’... So , no offense- but it isnt about you getting it, it’s about planting that seed of doubt about whatever might remain of the President’s mental acuity, and also getting him riled up so that he’ll do and say even MORE stupid stuff leading up to the election.

I sincerely hope you're right, and if it works she'll get a tip of the cap from me because I think it's crucial to the survival of our democracy to remove the existential threat currently in the White House. I just believe this is the type of play you do when you're losing, not when it's this close and you're ahead. This is the kind of thing that can move undecideds in the wrong direction, although an argument can be made there aren't that many of them out there.
