It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

Trump has made multiple posts this evening on the them of "I can't possibly give due process to everyone!"

He’s deranged. He’s the one proposing two different standards - not anyone else.

The Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency has reportedly received permission from the Justice Department to access a sensitive system containing detailed information about immigrants’ interactions with the U.S. government.

The system, the Executive Office for Immigration Review’s Courts and Appeals System, contains records dating back at least to the 1990s on millions of legal and undocumented immigrants, including addresses, case histories, court testimony, and confidential interviews from asylum seekers.

DOGE was given permission on Friday to access the system, The Washington Postreports.

The Justice Department declined to comment on the Post’s reporting.

DOGE has pursued and used immigration-related data across U.S. agencies including the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Internal Revenue Service. It has also reportedly been granted access to sensitive Labor Department data on immigrants and farm workers.……

Two globetrotting German teenagers had their travel plans upended when they were denied entry to the U.S. and detained by border officers who called their trip “suspicious,” according to a report.

Charlotte Pohl, 19, and Maria Lepère, 18, from Rostock—about 140 miles north of Berlin—had already visited New Zealand and Thailand as part of their around-the-world trip after graduating from high school.

“It was all like a fever dream,” Lepère said. “We had already noticed a little bit of what was going on in the U.S. But at the time, we didn't think it was happening to Germans. That was perhaps very naive. We felt so small and powerless.”

Officials became suspicious of potential illegal work intentions after learning the teens had not booked accommodation for their entire five-week stay in Hawaii, according to Beat of Hawaii.

“They found it suspicious that we hadn't fully booked our accommodations for the entire five weeks in Hawaii,” Pohl said. “We wanted to travel spontaneously. Just like we had done in Thailand and New Zealand.”

Pohl and Lepère say they were handcuffed and given green prison uniforms.…….

Good grief. I guess our security is run by morons.

It's a bit ridiculous... backpacking culture in Europe and Australia is really prevalent among kids graduating high school and college. After college I took a summer off to hitch hike around the middle east, and I met a ton of Europeans and Australians who were doing it for a year or more.

Yep, this is quite common. There's absolutely zero reason for these kids to be detained. We have idiots running things now, so I suppose this shouldn't be terribly surprising. This Administration has broken the government. They have no shame.

the rumor is that she was having dinner with Corey Lewandowski- which the pair, both married, are said to be having an affair. That the cash was to pay meal etc to "keep off books"

He accompanied her to El Salvador 2 weeks ago, yet she has no "chief of staff" - so word is he "acting" that role.

Its a soap opera played out within the Governmental bureaucracy. Its so insane to even contemplate, but this is more than likely what is happening.

They just restocked the swamp with their own animals.
    Yup.

No wonder why we are always fighting invasive species. MAGA and the administration are a combination of zebra mussels, Asian carp, pythons in the everglades, snakes in Guam and fragamites that choke out cattails in wetlands.

Basically, “We don’t need the courts, you’ve got me, ‘Your Highness’s Police State’ deciding for you who is worthy and who deserves to have their lives destroyed because I targeted them to distract you from your real enemy… ME and my wealthy Capitalist friends who have been disenfranchising you peons for decades, but I’ll blind you, getting you all riled up so you’ll want to stick Juan with your pitchfork, not me. ” (said under breath- “suckers…you’re so easy and pathetic”). 😳

The good thing (if you want to call it that) is that they were only destined and leased for a day

Could have been weeks like some of these other cases

International tourism into the US has dropped between almost 10 and 20 percent depending on the metric, and I think we can expect that to get worse.

Good thing we’re not planning any trips to the US anytime soon. When we travel, we usually just book the first night after arrival—and maybe a few nights in really popular areas—before we leave home. Then we pick up a car and head wherever we feel like going.

The craziest trip change we’ve done was a 30-day road trip along the East Coast, originally planned around visiting major cities. But after a long, miserable spring in Denmark with nothing but bad weather, we completely changed our itinerary just two weeks before departure. Since our non-refundable flights were to Orlando, we started there and ended up driving all the way to Yellowstone National Park, then back through Utah, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana.

And that wasn’t the first time we changed plans mid-trip. Most days, we just decide in the morning where we want to end up that evening—and that’s it :) That freedom is one of the main reasons we love road tripping in the US. It’s so much easier to do spontaneously than in Europe, where you usually need reservations just about everywhere.
