Speaking of patterns, this is the second time in recent days that ICE has wrongfully detained a US citizen and then claimed they detained him because he claimed to be an undocumented immigrant.

“Alito closes his dissent by insisting that “The Executive must proceed under the terms of our order in [J.G.G.], and this Court should follow established procedures.” The problem is that his dissent would have effectively cleared the way for the Executive to flout J.G.G. with no repercussions—in the name of abiding by procedures that the Court (to say nothing of the ACLU) … did not actually violate.

It would be bad enough if Alito’s dissent were merely tone-deaf. But its effort to find something wrong with the majority’s intervention smacks of an attempt not to take the law where it leads him, but to try to manufacture a justification for sitting on his hands while even more folks are wrongly removed to a Salvadoran prison, from which it is proving increasingly difficult to get anyone back. It’s fortunate that only one of his colleagues joined him.”

The most troubling part to me, a layperson, was that as one of his bullet points in his dissent Alito just outright lied about what the DOJ said in court. He claimed the DOJ said there wouldn’t be any flights on Friday OR Saturday and therefore there was no need for the hasty ruling from SCOTUS. The DOJ actually didn’t say that - they said no flights were scheduled for Friday, but they reserved the right to have flights on Saturday, and we know now that they had loaded a bunch of people on buses just after midnight Friday night and were heading for the airport when the stay from SCOTUS forced the buses to turn around and go back to the detention facility.

Alito is a dishonest liar who will do anything to enable Trump and MAGA. He should be impeached along with Thomas.

What is pertinent to know also is that Abrego Garcia was carrying a large amount of cash when he was picked up in that sweep in front of a Home Depot, although it was less than half the amount that Noem was carrying, and that was used by the government as “proof” he was a gang member.
