It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

MARRERO, La. — Immigration crackdowns are taking a toll on a family here in the Metro area.
Kremly Marrero and his partner Wendy Brito live on the Westbank with their three children.

Brito is a volunteer at McDonogh 26 Elementary, a full-time mom, and an immigrant from El Salvador.
“She came for a better life,” Kremly Marrero said. “She came to get away from vicious people.”

Marrero says Brito went to her routine ICE check-in but never came home.

“They’re calling me from the after-school program saying, hey, there’s no one to pick up the kids, and I said that’s weird,” Marrero said.

Three weeks later, the ICE Database shows Brito is detained in Brasile, Louisiana.

“Where’s mom? Why is mom in jail?” Marrero says his children ask him.

He says he’s wondering, too. Marrero says Brito had applied for asylum, attended her bi-annual ICE appointments, and planned to pursue the path to citizenship.

“They just said due to the new regulations under the new administration, this is what it is,” Marrero said.

We reached out to ICE to inquire about Ms. Brito’s arrest and others like hers.

They responded, “Because of our operational tempo with routine, daily law enforcement operations, and increased interest in all our mission sets, we aren’t able to research and confirm or deny many specific cases.”……

So much for the, 'you have to do it legally. Even folks following the legal path are now being detained. The intent has to be a chilling on all legal and illegal immigration. I'm really getting concerned about the collateral damage.

The young man who is detained in FL despite being a US citizen has been released.

Without the hue and cry - would they have released him?

The only thing I'd like clarification on is why the judge lacked jurisdiction.

I believe, the issue is that ICE likely automatically requests anyone arrested on suspicion of being an illegal immigrant or a gang member be detained for them. Florida likely has a statewide stance of cooperation with ICE. So, while the judge ruled no probable cause and the state shouldn't have arrested him. That judge can't also tell the state not to comply with ICE, until ICE rescinds that request.

That's my engineer trying to play lawyer, but without all the correct tools.. haha. So, take it for what it's worth.

No I think I read that was the case. ICE wouldn’t release their hold for him even after he proved he was a US citizen. Remember Trump wants to deport US citizens as well.

If he cannot take away their citizenship by fiat, he wants to figure out a way to say they’re in a gang and send them to camps.

I think there's two things going on: First is that the FL law that this FL/ICE relationship is based on has been temporarily enjoined, so it isn't active. Second, I suspect that it is the law at the moment it is clear that the person is an American citizen, there is no longer any ICE or immigration jurisdiction over the person.

It's pretty forked up the officer alleged that the man said he was in the country illegally.

Trump is absolute worst kind of person to ever be president - he's just so wrong at the most fundamental level.

How folks dont see this and his history with ANYTHING is beyond me.

He verbally issues a "loose task" and then says to his underlings " this is what i want, figure it out ( how to execute ) how to get the result" - then they do. But THEY did it, not him.

He just did same thing with tariffs and his "Economic Committee".

He has been doing this for decades upon decades.

plausible deniability.

It's also textbook narcissistic personality disorder - like right out of the DSM-5.

Why do they engage in this stupid shirt? It's just pure blunder.

they cant let go of "owning the libs" part. This feeds the very basic instincts of the base/core MAGA. Its a contest for them. Thats how they perform so well. They have tied it all together, in very simple terms, to be existential for them.

I don’t think it’s blunder. They need to project this alpha male image and their core supporters eat that shirt up. Imagine how many MAGA losers pumped their fists and went “fork yeah”.

Plus the courts won’t care about this or rather they won’t do anything about it and when he does come back MAGA won’t notice or care because they have moved on to something else.

It will be in the record in the contempt proceeding - I have no doubt.

They’re still attempting to send people to the camp in El Salvador. This would seem to be in direct violation of the Supreme Court’s order, would it not?

According to the thread under the above post, they are hiring private charter planes and hiding their flights on tracking apps. They think they have never stopped these flights, just hidden them. They are giving the deportees less than 24 hours notice, and no lawyer has ever been allowed to contact any clients once they reach El Salvador.

it didnt take but 2 hrs for a perfect example to arise- I will give him credit in that his words are constructed for taking as little responsibility as possible. Honed over decades.

Keep in mind- this "drip drip" of happenings is ONLY because ICE budget is $9B

The new spending bill in Congress increases that to $150-175BILLION. Once that happens, i fear you wont be able to keep up with the amount of stories/detentions taking place on a daily basis.
Yep, it's already bad, and I think it wouldn't just be a linear increase in badness either.

If we think about the increase in recruitment, the type of people they'd be hiring - thinking of who they'd want to hire and who would want to be hired to do this - in the hostile environment they've created with ludicrous targets... I mean, we're inevitably talking nothing but goon squads grabbing people off the street.

Don't want to be a doomsayer, but yeah, kind of have to say doom there. I don't think the courts would stand a chance of keeping up.
