It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

People keep saying that but the State Dept. official's declaration on Saturday (I think) said he was alive and that's sworn testimony upon specific demand by the district judge. That's textbook criminal perjury and civil contempt if he's dead. That's not a gray area - that's an immediate response from the judge and he's going to jail.
They would have to prove whoever said he was alive KNEW he was dead. Nobody has been inside that prison, so presumably they are going on the word of El Salvador officials. So if they are relaying accurately what they were told, then that’s how they escape responsibility.

Nobody will do a damn thing to anybody in this country if he was killed, IMO.

They have already brazenly ignored court orders. They are continuing to ignore court orders today and every day. Nobody will do a damn thing to stop them.

Yeah, I'm pretty much of mind that nothing is done about this or anything else for that matter. Administration is daring the courts to do anything about it.

You guys are over-reacting, this isn't anything like what the Nazis did.

i keep coming back to this idea that Trump et al are "manufacturing" Anti- American sentiment and sowing the seeds of hate that will ultimately lead to all sorts of attempted retribution.

ones that will keep the cycle of "Im protecting America" from MAGAs vs ANTI AMERICANISM going for years to come and keep them running on that platform.

This is what needs to happen, and I thought there was a court order preventing any further people from being sent to the concentration camp. But Rubio just crowed about sending 10 more people down there yesterday.

Time to write to all my Congress people (again) about this idea of sending everyone to Central American concentration camps.

This is worse than the Japanese internment camps in that at least they weren't removed fron the country entirely. That was a stain on the country then and is even more of a stain on our country now.

If it walks like a fascist...

The 4pm hearing tomorrow is going to be interesting. The judge’s posture is going to be telling - she can either say “the Supreme Court was clear and you’re defying the ruling and you’re defying my orders”, which is only partly true, or she can say “I’d like briefing on whether I can compel El Salvador to blah blah blah” which would be heartbreaking.

That guy is going to die in that prison. The US court system is helpless in the face of brazen authoritarianism. In some cases it's aiding it.

How is any of this ok? Are we at the point where this Administration cares nothing about rule of law.

I’d say it’s a big and quite unfortunate problem when the individual in question is a citizen of El Salvador who, physically, is in El Salvador. Pretty much solely up to the government of El Salvador.

I think the bigger problem is the US government detaining and deporting people without due process, but that's just me.
