It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

So only a racist regime would do this. But you know what - I’m done trying to convince you to have any sort of moral clarity about this. Lots of things that are considered completely immoral were once legal, only someone without any moral clarity would justify these actions.

You are arguing for a corrupt, immoral regime. You have been shown attempted murder from ICE, Chuck has shown you that over 200 judges have found that DHS is illegally imprisoning people with no criminal records, like this man. Yet you still defend this shirt.

Reminds me of people who used to defend Jim Crow laws. This is worse, because no matter what you say the actions in this case are not legal. They imprisoned him with no warning - illegally.
And there are immoral acts that remain legal. The current administration reeks of it. I’ve not justified. I’ve simply pointed out what is likely legal. And federal district court judges are sometimes wrong. Immigration law does not favor the immigrants.

Over 200 judges are wrong? That’s really the argument you are making here? Come on, that’s just sick.

Are you just that desperate to get immigrants out of the US? Why do you want them out so badly?

The politico article only cites the issue of “detention” so I’m sure they are correct in a lot of those instances. An 80 year old in a wheel chair is not a flight risk. Detention should only be for flight risk. But in terms of deportation of those with removal orders probably not.

The important part:
The day after Lopez Belloza was arrested, a federal judge issued an emergency order prohibiting the government from moving her out of Massachusetts or the United States for at least 72 hours. ICE did not respond to an email Friday from The Associated Press seeking comment about violating that order.

Court order given immediately. Ignored and deported anyway.

The judicial system is starting to realize its impotence.

This underscores that we are in the middle of a coup. The RW has abandoned any pretense of patriotism, of support for democracy, of support for the rule of law.

So turn your head and ignore the illegal acts taking place every day. Be a good little German. That’s exactly what you are.

Alicia reported for her scheduled check-in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in April, a process she had completed many times as an immigrant living in Louisiana for nearly a decade. This time, she was abruptly taken into federal custody.

ICE transported her to the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, where agents conducted a health screening that revealed she was pregnant. Despite an ICE directive generally prohibiting the detention of pregnant women, Alicia was held there for three months.

At the facility, away from her two kids — a teenager and a child under 5 — she was given small portions of “substandard” food that left her hungry. She also underwent a medical examination that she did not consent to, and suffered a miscarriage, civil rights groups saidin a letter to ICE last month.

The groups demanded that ICE conduct a review to identify and release all pregnant women in its custody. The Independent has asked ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, for comment.

Alicia is one of more than a dozen pregnant and postpartum women who reported being put in restraints, receiving inadequate nutrition, and suffering “medical neglect” at the hands of ICE agents at the Basile facility, and another detention center in Lumpkin, Georgia, according to the letter.………

If repeatedly said I don’t support the current detention program. Were you complaining when the Biden administration was detaining 36,000?

I’m just smart enough to understand I can’t stop it by whining, wailing, and gnashing of teeth on a board like this.

And I don’t write my congressman. I get to talk to him,

Such grandstanding, lol. I’m certainly not impressed by you. I think you completely lack any moral center, but are smugly sanctimonious anyway. It’s not a good look for you, lol.

And Biden (and all other previous administrations for that matter) only detained actual criminals and true flight risks. The fact that you even bring up Biden gives up your hypocrisy. You are not objecting because you like the result. Nobody is fooled by this crap out of you.

And one more thing. Your participation on this topic is comprised solely of defending these illegal and immoral actions taken by these sociopaths that you support. Your rather weak statements that you don’t support them is completely belied by your own words defending them.

It seems that ICE decided to stage for a day of marauding and kidnapping in a Manhattan parking garage. But people found out and a huge crowd gathered - enough to block the entrances to the parking garage. So many people clogged the streets that they were forced to call local police to remove them. Even then it took so long that it appears they will scrap the mission for today.

Good for these brave people. This is the kind of good trouble that needs to be happening.

the whole deport non americans and i guess multicultured americans out of usa stuff kinda reminds of the transformers movies

because remember in transformers 3 aka the last witicky verison along with 4 and 5 aka the marky marky verisons how the usa government wants the autobots and i guess the desepetictions deported out of earth

Not defending. Just pointing out there is dam little that can be done about it.

More good trouble. And ways to help.

“A particularly headline-grabbing protest was staged last weekend at the Home Depot in Monrovia, California, a location picked because it’s where Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdés, 52, from Guatemala died on the freeway after being hit by an SUV while running from an ICE raid. Last weekend, protesters walked into the store en masse, picked up $0.17 ice scrapers (get it?), bought them one by one, then queued up again to return each purchased tool. This was all perfectly legal, but it created retail chaos: enormous, slow-moving lines. The checkout-clogging action ultimately forced the location to temporarily close. All this was done in the name of protesting the company for its refusal to object to the masked federal agents who have used its stores and parking lots as staging grounds to ambush day laborers looking to help Americans with landscaping and house work.”
