Looks like it's alive and kicking to me... Sheezzzzzz.. Really...

The farmer-owned dairy cooperative, which produces butter, cheese and other milk products, has dropped the Native American maiden image from its packaging, opting instead for just a landscape.
The logo, which has been the company’s label for nearly 100 years since it was founded in Minnesota in 1921, has been called “racist” and criticized for its use of the “butter maiden.”

This is unacceptable... How long must we endure this?

I find it offensive that our Milk comes from Cows.

Why do we have to invoke Religion when it comes to our Grain products?

Joe, can you explain exactly why you care so much?

What is the absolute worse possible scenario that you imagine this slippery slope will lead us to?

I don't see the issue with the change as Land O Lakes apparently has no Native American roots and Mia the Butter Maiden has no relation to butter. Apparently it was just a marketing design, from Land O Lakes hired marketing firm Brown and Bigelow around 1930, to evoke "home grown" feelings from buyers. A common marketing tactic from marketing firms in the illustration days of the early 1900's.

I still don't see a problem... Maybe some people have too much time on their hands.

WE had a conversation and one of our members came along and said that Politically correct was dead... @Dadsdream, you responded to him/her, do you remember.

This just goes to show that it is not dead and we as a society have just gotten to the point that a lot of this stuff is ridiculous.

From this article. Some critics have previously put pressure on the company to remove the woman from its design calling the native American character racist culturally insensitive. North Dakota state Rep Ruth Buffalo, a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation, said it goes “hand-in-hand with human and sex trafficking of our women and girls, by depicting Native women as sex objects,” according to The Grand Forks Herald.

That image is no more racist and associated with sex trafficing than GMR is a politician.. We as a society have gotten to be such Cry Babies... Would that image have been ok if it was a Male Indian Warrior? What if the image came from an actual person and she gave permission for Land o lakes to use the image...

I am not outraged... Just more amazed at the how technology by making the world smaller and facebook and cell phones allowing everyone to voice their opinions so strongly, that it is creating a cultural society of people that have nothing better to do than be upset.

Yes... Land o lakes has a right to change with the times, to alter thier product labeling after 92 years... But if they had to do so because a few folks are getting twisted by something going on in thier own head is different... As much as some people want it to be so. Everything is NOT racist or culturaly insensative.

What next? Is Chef Boyardee going to be racist and culturally insensitive to overweight, italian Americans everywhere?

"Politically correct" is just civility and good manners. You can see why Trump would mock those virtues.

No it's not... Civility and good manners is when you say "Yes Mame" and "No Sir" Please and Thank you...

Politically correct is when you take an Indian Maiden off the packaging of butter because you are afraid someone is gonna be offended and not buy your product.

Or you don't put an American Flag on a T-shirt so somebody doesn't get offended.

Big Big Difference... Nice try though at taking a shot at Trump instead of our society for becoming a bunch of Cry Babies.

How does this affect you personally?

Look closely at the image. That is not the likeness of an "Indian" maiden.
