This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

There will be a lot of maneuvering behind the scenes. Corporate handlers do not like the economic uncertainty, nor want their names drug through this. While some may be able to get away with it, I’m thinking a lot of corporate and large donor money is going to dry up now that this blew the top off of the Republican Party. So I would think a lot of back door maneuvering will happen. Second, because Biden has a lot of personal friendships involved I can see the Republicans licking their wounds and calming down in the house and senate. While I know there was 45% of Republicans who supposedly supported what happened, as time goes on you will see that mellow.
However, what really needs to happen is social media needs to get their stuff together. They helped create and foster this, while sacking away a boatload of cash. While I am against reworking section 230, at this point I think it needs to be looked at as Facebook, Twitter, and all have been able to stir the pot, with little to no responsibility on their part, while raking in the cash. I mean, what did they think was going to happen? I cannot see the Democrats not hauling them in to clean up their act.

I suspect we'll see more people like this

the audio sucks but it is around the 1:28 mark

Seriously, there are literally hundreds of other people she could have quoted regarding the importance of children. But Hitler? Did she think that would resonate?

What is more disturbing her saying that about hitler, or the few people that kind of clapped about it
Another elected official willfully lying about the opposition is what truly pisses me off. So, according to this elected official, "The Squad" doesn't care about American families. How about debate the actual differences instead of forking LYING all the time to stoke up your base. They have done this so long that even if they start telling them the truth, it will be ignored by their most radical supporters because they will then see them as traitors to the cause.

    Edit: Language

The same people that are pissed off about "cancel culture".

so the answer is, sadly, same as before I guess

"The decision by Harvard's administration to cower and cave to the woke Left will continue to erode diversity of thought," Stefanik wrote in a statement on Twitter. "The Ivory Tower's march toward a monoculture of like-minded, intolerant liberal views demonstrates the sneering disdain for everyday Americans and will instill a culture of fear for students."

    Harvard, a liberal bastion?

They definitely have their moments. The since rescinded rule that punished students for being in frats/sororities (i.e. same sex organizations) comes to mind.

How about good old Elise quits sneering at the constitution and the will of the majority of the voters? Maybe she should stop lying about election fraud also while she’s at It.

    Cleaned that up for her.

*I know they are further right than traditional conservative values, but that doesn't fit my post, ok? :hihi:

I'm not sure the Republican party is salvageable. There needs to be a bigger tent moderate party where parts of the platforms of either format party are accepted and differing opinions within the party are allowed to flourish. No one has all the answers and no one party has a corner on the political landscape.

In the near term, a lot of centrists are going to be without a party for a bit. I don't think returning to the Republican party is something I can see myself doing for a long time, if ever. The crazies will have to be fully done away with, or a new party without the crazies has to be formed.

Part of the way to get there is ranked choice voting. More states need to consider this and voting has to be a sacred right that is accessible to every citizen.

I guess that's a whole other discussion, but I'm just not seeing a way forward in the party without some serious changes being made.

Unfortunately I think you will see more lunatics/Trumpublicans win primaries and normal sane Republicans will simply vote for them over the Democrat in the general election.

Nope, I have a feeling the normal, sane ones are just going to drop out of the political process entirely until those idiots get the message that they can't win.

At least I hope so. Otherwise, we're truly forked as a country and society.

I‘m not so sure. I think the Republican Party will shrink away if they don’t expunge the Q crazies. It will happen slowly and more in some places than others, but it will happen. As people realize that Biden isn’t going to take us to full on socialism, they will feel comfortable leaving the Q party, or the Trump party.

They never accepted Obama wasn't a Manchurian Muslim from Kenya that was going to enact Sharia Law. Hell, he didn't do it, and they still claim he did it. They will never see that Biden won't take us to full socialism.

The Republican Party is the party of Q and the ones that don't believe it pretends they don't know anything about it.

I don’t think it’s the worst thing if 1-2 more viable parties come out of this. 2 party was already kinda broken before the Republican Party got Trumped. If it’s 1 more party of centrists, or 2 more parties with center left/center right, I think it’s a benefit.

Edit: Forgot to caveat this with PLUS RANKED CHOICE VOTING
