This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Republicans for decades have been trying to stick to the constitution. A Democracy that also includes capitalism.
Democrats have been trying to change our country into a Socialist State.
That's just a buzzword/talking point to appeal to Republican voters. If Democrats were really trying to make America a socialist state then why would they have wealthy corporate donors?

Is the UK a socialist state because it has government provided healthcare?

I was going to post this. I can't read the article. It would be interesting to know if the IRS was told to do this.
The head of the IRS has asked the Inspector General to look into the audits.

Socialism and especially communism make people look to the government for their well being instead of studying hard...working hard....making a successful life on their own.

NON Trump fanatic Republicans....regular Republicans want to keep America : 1)Strong Military
2)Strong Economy 3) Less Red Tape 4) Energy Self Sufficient 5) Power to the states not the Federal government.
Reagan philosophy/ideology still works for ME!
If it does not work for the Republicans who are afraid of Trump then they are weak losers.

Nope! Not even close! Don’t buy the lies, Steve.

These systems of government have actual definitions, you know. Words have actual meanings. You are not showing a firm grasp of either the definitions or the philosophy of the Democratic Party.

yeah, what a bunch of FUD, and it was a very cringe take he made.

In the USA socialism might as well be defined as government spending or regulation that FOX news doesn't approve of.

anyways, someone got their info wrong because we already have lots of "scary" socialist stuff here in the US:

    military
    highways/roads
    public libraries
    police/fire dept
    postal service
    social security
    public schools
    museums
    pbs
    parks
    farm subsidies
    Amtrak
    medicare/medicaid

Unlike prince of a man Rush Limbaugh

I hope Michael Moore, Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart get it next
    ==================

…..In a video posted to the social media platform, Mr Adams went on to say that Mr Biden “has invited somebody that has done the equivalent, the metaphoric equivalent of urinating and defecating in the most deliberately open way imaginable on the United States flag, America, our values, all of those things. It is beyond disgusting. It is beyond outrageous. There are no words that can properly convey just how awful and horrible and despicable this act of Joe Biden is. This tells you everything you need to know about how Joe Biden and this administration feel about America”…….

    Wrong.

To begin with the current Communist states has more in common with Fascism than they have with socialism. Both are totallitarian philosophies and both are societies were everything is controlled from the state.

Socialism and especially Social -democracies does not give anybody a free ride.. What they do is help you help yourself.

    Fun fact.

Any business owner can see the value in maintaining production tools, that is a sound business decision. What a social democracy does is maintaining its "production tools" aka its people. If they are sick they get treatment so that they can go back to work and earn money and pay taxes (the "product" in the eye of the state)

If they lack the necessary knowledge they get training or education - just like the software in a production machine gets an upgrade.

If a machine runs hot, it is taken offline and cooled down, the same with people - give them proper workdays and vacation time and they will be far more productive.

I really don't get why this is so bad in the eyes of many in the US.. Companies are still privately owned and we have a capitalist system where everyone has a chance of success and nobody comes and take away their profit og businesses..

BUT we also have a system where ressources are not lost due to lack of maintenance (health care) or missing upgrades (education/training)
We have a system where everyone participate -even people on disability - will often work a number of hours each week based on how much and what the doctors think they can manage - you see it is extremely important that everyone get to feel that they are part of society and not outsiders. So no freeloaders there.

It's a convenient slur to use on those of us who feel that A: We can accomplish more and build a better society by pulling together and pooling our efforts through the mechanism of government and B: We'll never, ever eliminate taxes so I want the things I'm paying for like schools, bridges, infrastructure and a safety net that helps my neighbors (or me) get back on their feet.
No one here is advocating for government to seize the means of production or nationalize our mineral/oil resources so the word simply doesn't fit. It's a cheap slur, nothing more.

    Maybe.
It's just that I am tired of reading posts here that say: "Republicans WANT TO DESTROY our country".
    So riduculous.
    Republicans are PEOPLE not monsters.
PEOPLE tend to act in ways that will make their lives better.
Most people do things that are in their self interest.
DESTROYING our country is not going to make my life or other Republican's lives better.
We don't want to "destroy" the country.
We want to get gasoline that came out the our country's ground or USA waters...not relying on gas from the Gulf, Russia or Venezula.
We want to keep more of our money.
We want to be respected across the globe for having a strong military.
Aside from national security (Federal Responsibility) we want more local government control
I want a strong, economically prosperous America.

Possibly when posters on here use the word "destroy" they are referring to things that have nothing to do with Energy Dependency vs Energy Self Sufficiency.....Economic Stability....Strong Military.
Yup....they are not worried about Republicans on those issues.
Probably when they say "Republicans want to DESTROY our country from within" they are referring to Supreme Court stuff. Abortion. Same sex marriage. Things of that nature. That's possibly the "destroy" fears that are in their minds?

    And one more thing.
Trump and his minions have popularized the four letters RINO (Republicans In Name Only)
That's quite a successful marketing of something that is arse-backwards

MY POST yesterday about my still adhering to the way Ronald Reagan viewed our country. MY POST above that I've quoted here...THESE ARE the Republican Principles that are historically true.
In the "Trump World" people who don't align themselves with HIM are not Real Republicans.
I would submit, that people who DO align themselves with Trump...THEY are the RINOS....or more accurately: RFTO is what they should be called R=Republicans F=For T=Trump O=Only

You bought into a lie that a select group of wealthy elites want you to believe. You're a pawn in rich men's schemes for their own benefit while the rest of us face an ever tougher road to get by. They are sucking up wealth at an unprecedented level while a growing population of the workforce wonders how they are going to pay rent. You might be doing okay right now, and I might be doing okay right now, but for how much longer? What about the generations of people behind us?

The hypocrisy is that a lot of people on the conservative side simultaneously don't support social programs that would create greater access to things like healthcare and higher education, but also don't support ideas that could redirect wealth (higher wages, for example) to the working class, so that they might be more financially stable and independent. If people aren't making livable wages and also don't have programs to turn to for help, what do you think they should do? "Work harder" is a platitude and not a blanket remedy. It would be better if conservatives just admitted they simply don't care what happens to other people. Y'all are just carrying water for elites who don't give a **** about you beyond your ability to "work harder" to their benefit in a system rigged overwhelmingly in their favor. If he could, I'm sure David Koch would pat you on the head and tell you what a good boy you are.

The vast majority of us on the left don't want to remake America into a socialist state. Most reasonable people can see that no specific economic system is inherently all good or all bad and no single approach works best to meet every challenge. Quit regurgitating scary words and open up your mind to other possibilities. It's about striving to maintain some balance so that we are fostering creativity, expanding opportunities, but also not leaving a growing number of people further and further behind.
