This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

    Dood

It worked last time and as I type his scum sucking followers and lackeys are busily placing all the parts to ensure that net time it won't.

To think otherwise is naivete in the extreme.
We'll see. I do agree they're trying to do that. Whether they succeed is the bigger question.

I agree with this. In another thread, he was posting about inflation, wanting to blame Biden. Other posters engaged and discussed it with him. We showed how the inflation isn’t Biden’s fault. I wrote a lengthy post regarding gas prices and it’s causes. There was no attempt to discuss futher. Instead, he just changed the subject to some nonsense.

He wants to come on here and post false info. There is no desire to learn or discuss. When shown his info is false, he tries to change the subject. If that isn’t a troll, I don’t know what is.
Yeah, I did some reading of his posts in other threads, and I see what you're saying.

The fact that we have a large group of legislators and people in power even trying a scheme like this in the first place is a huge problem in and of itself and a red flag that our democracy is in danger.

Only if there are enough of them. I don't think we're close to those numbers yet. Could we get there by 2024? Possibly. We'll see.

Not exactly Republican Party, But over 70% vote GOP so I’m putting this here

And that line about “you’ll never get to heaven being popular with the world” is kind of chilling - bolding is mine
    ========================

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Southern Baptists filled a cavernous hotel ballroom Sunday to hear a warning: Don’t cooperate or compromise with the Devil.

And this week, as their huge denomination gathers for its annual meeting and to elect a new president, the urgent warning was aimed at their fellow Southern Baptists.

“You don’t advance the kingdom of God by lining up with the kingdom of Satan,” John MacArthur, a dean of conservative evangelical preaching, told the audience, referring to issues including the role of women and addressing racism.

“You will never advance the kingdom of God by being popular with the world. If you think you will, you’re doing the Devil’s work. How can you negotiate with people who hate Christ, hate God, hate the Bible and hate the Gospel?”

The host of the part-prayer gathering, part-campaign rally on the first night of the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting was the Conservative Baptist Network, an upstart group that some observers have compared with the MAGA wing of the Republican Party.

The network was formed two years ago in response to the issues of institutional racism and sexual abuse as priorities in the nation’s largest Protestant denomination.

In the Southern Baptist Convention — where women aren’t allowed to be head pastors, same-sex marriage is opposed and 70 percent of its nearly 14 million members vote Republican — the CBN’s leaders and supporters say the situation is an emergency. This week, they hope to elect a president who agrees.

“Pretty soon it will be women preachers, social justice, then racism, then [critical race theory], then victimization because the world is a ball and chain, and when you’re hooked, it will take you to the bottom. They hate the truth,” MacArthur said to a crowd that flipped, through the night, between pin-drop silence and cheers of “That’s true!”…..

    That last quoted paragraph.
Dude, you just listed your own Messiah's platform like it's a bad thing.
    To thunderous cheers.

And y'all wonder why us nonbelievers are appalled?

Which circles back to how to stop them.
Don't let them get elected in the first place.
Instead of holding your nose and voting for Trump (or Trumplicans) hold it just the same but vote Democrat.
Keep doing it until the GOP gets the message that batcrap crazy doesn't win.

    Well said. Agreed 100%.

All of this anti-LGBTQ rhetoric is going to get people killed. We already saw what a group was going to do in Idaho. This hate will keep spreading through the Christian right.
