This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

I know there were instances against Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the woman (can’t remember her name) running health & human derives during the “kids in cages” scandal, both members of the trump administration

I‘ve read about several businesses with similar blanket statements (and posted about them on PDB and I think a couple here)

But all the ones I’ve read about are always right wing

anyone know of any instances of the other way around?

a restaurant with a sign on the front door saying if you voted for Trump you aren’t welcome here?

a hardware store saying “think putting Amy coney barrett on the Supreme Court was perfectly fair? screw you and buy your screws somewhere else”?

a dentist advertising that she only cleans righteous liberal teeth?

A sign allegedly posted on a Georgia business blasts Joe Biden voters and blames them for increased costs and an employee shortage.

It was posted Sunday on Reddit's "Anti-Work" forum and has been upvoted over 38,000 times. The creator of the thread, who asked only to be referred to as Tina, goes by the username TieredTrayTrunk and told Newsweek that she did not photograph the sign but lives nearby the establishment.

The sign, posted on the window of the Appalachian Grill on East Church Street in Cartersville, Georgia, says "NOTICE!" with a long message that reads: "If you voted for Brandon's Build Back BS and don't have remorse or regrets I wish you would leave, I don't need your business.

"Your ignorant, naive decision has more than doubled our costs of goods and depleted our labor force by more than triple," the sign continued. "If this is what you consider to be building back better I don't care to look at or serve you, nor should any other restaurant!"

The use of "Brandon" in the wording refers to Biden and dates back to an October 2021 NASCAR race at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama. It has become a widely used phrase among conservatives, including on signs and in memes, meant to disparage the president and his supporters.

Tina said she was once in the establishment "years ago" but not any time recently. She said multiple individuals in her community have confirmed the establishment as the one that posted the sign, but it's allegedly not new.

"This is not the first sign that they've had up," Tina said. "Through COVID they've had several signs at different times that blame liberals for various things."……..

I’m fine with them putting up signs - at least I can then make the informed decision to not give them any of my business.

I would suggest that Kay Ivey is not a normal Republican. Not by a longshot. She's not MTG bad, but that's a low bar.

That said, not enough average Republicans are speaking out against Trump and his minions. I'm not a big fan of Liz Cheney, but she would be light years better than Trump for the Republican nomination if she runs for President. Anything to get Trump out of the party, I'll vote for.
Fair enough - and this wouldn’t be worth mentioning if her lies were immediately called out by the sane members of her party. But they won’t be, and that is why they need to be called out by everyone else.

I don't really know what a "normal" Republican is any more. Kay Ivey may not be a normal Republican, whatever that is, but she's definitely and average Republican, otherwise she wouldn't be the governor of Alabama.

Okay, this is straight up madness. I had no idea there are still serious efforts in 2022 to “re-do” the 2020 election. My god. That the Republican leader of the Wisconsin state Assembly would even take this meeting is crazy. Where are the normal Republicans?

Eastman, a right-wing lawyer who drafted a plan for former President Donald Trump to cling to power by falsely claiming then-Vice President Mike Pence could reject legitimate electors during the 2020 presidential election, was part of a small group of Trump allies who secured a private meeting last month to try and convince the Republican leader of the Wisconsin state Assembly to decertify President Joe Biden’s win, multiple sources familiar with the meeting told ABC.”

“On March 16, Eastman and others spent nearly two hours behind closed doors pressuring Republican Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to nullify the 2020 election and reclaim the electors awarded to Biden, the sources said, which legal experts say is impossible.”

“Following the meeting, Vos reiterated his position that the 2020 election can’t be decertified. Vos, however, has pushed claims of widespread election fraud and was held in contempt by a judge last month for failing to turn over documents related to a Republican-led investigation he had launched himself in May 2021 into the 2020 election.”

“The Wisconsin meeting is just one instance among many in an ongoing effort by Eastman and other Trump allies who, even 15 months into President Joe Biden's tenure, have continued to push for the results of the 2020 election to be overturned despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud.”

“Trump has been watching the decertification push closely, saying in a statement last month following the Wisconsin meeting that “Speaker Vos should do the right thing and correct the Crime of the Century—immediately! It is my opinion that other states will be doing this, Wisconsin should lead the way!”

The former president has been in contact with multiple people in Wisconsin working on the effort and has received regular updates from MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, sources said, who has spread wild and baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 vote count.”

@SteveSBrickNJ this is why we cannot ignore Trump. This is why the work of the House Select Committee is of paramount importance. This just dwarfs anything Nixon ever thought of doing.

I haven't personally seen a single instance of a business posting a sign telling republicans or Trump supporters to stay away. I strongly dislike our former president, but never in a million years would I intentionally limit my potential customer base to roughly half. That's just stupid. Money all spends the same and folks already hate enough.

There’s a house on a highway near me that has a really large sign posted outside - about 4 feet x 6 feet - that has the Fork Joe Biden (and fork you for voting for him) message. Only it’s explicit, not edited at all.

School buses go past that house every day. My husband and I just shake our heads whenever we pass it. What a miserable, hateful person, what a lack of human decency.

    Ha....here it is.
I told you Trump might not have as much support as before.
    He has noticeably smaller crowds.

Prominent GOP pollster Frank Luntz said in a recent interview that Republicans in private are mocking former President Trump and they are “tired of going back and rehashing the 2020 election.”

Luntz said he was not surprised by comments made by New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) that gained attention from the Gridiron Club’s annual dinner.

“He’s f—— crazy,” Sununu said of Trump earlier this month at the annual event, known for its roasts of politicians and other figures.

“I don’t think he’s so crazy that you could put him in a mental institution,” he added. “But I think if he were in one, he ain’t getting out.”

Luntz said that while the comments were made at a roast, many members of the Republican party feel the same way.

“I don’t know a single Republican who was surprised by what Sununu said. He said what they were thinking,” Luntz said to The Daily Beast. “They won’t say it [in public], but behind his back, they think he’s a child. They’re laughing at him.”

“That’s what made it significant,” he added, referring to Sununu’s comments.

Luntz added, “Trump isn’t the same man he was a year ago.”

“Even many Republicans are tired of going back and rehashing the 2020 election. Everybody else has moved on and in Washington everyone believes he lost the election,” the pollster said.

After Sununu’s comments at the dinner gained attention, he emphasized that his remarks were a joke............

As long as Trump is our there saying stuff like this he can't be ignored
    ===============================================

In a new statement attacking Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Bill McSwain, former President Donald Trump repeated his frequent lies regarding fraud in the 2020 election and said the country is "going to hell" because McSwain, former Attorney General Bill Barr and other officials did not do enough to overturn the election.

Much of the statement attacked McSwain, who Trump appointed as a U.S. attorney in Pennsylvania in 2018 and who is now running for governor in the state's Republican primary.

"Without free and fair Elections, we don't have a Country," Trump said. "Do not vote for Bill McSwain, a coward, who let our Country down. He knew what was happening and let it go. It was there for the taking and he failed so badly. Many of the U.S. Attorneys were probably told not to do anything by Barr. Hence, our Country is going to hell."......

If Republicans believe that rehashing the 2020 is wrong then I have just one question:

Why do they lack the courage to say so out loud and in the media? Because they are gutless and are afraid to actually do the right thing.

Possibly to them it is just not worth the aggravation. THEY (different than some of you) possibly feel like I do....that Trump is not a threat. He's not gonna win the nomination. As I said, the silent majority do not want him. Those on here who are obsessing about him are wasting their time. Wasting my time too. He's not gonna win anything. I don't have to let the Trump obsessors waste my time. I have a choice. I can not log in. That's what I'll do.
Sometimes posting on here is just aggravation.
I'm not gutless...BUT I AM bored of seeing the same stuff again and again.

Welp, unless you are a politician it really doesn’t matter. Politicians from local to federal in the Republican Party are either actively embracing Trump or scared spitless to say anything bad about him. It doesn’t matter whether or not he runs again although if he does he will get the nomination no matter what because he is still holding the reins as well as the genitalia of the party in his hands. I live in Ohio and the Republicans seeking the nomination to run for Portman’s senate seat are either silent on Trump or openly kissing his azz.

As the grift turns. Lol. These idiots can't help themselves. If you ever wonder how Putin gained and kept power...yeah. Fortunately, there's absolutely no precedent or mechanism for decertifying the election at this point. It's a laughable fantasy. Fortunately, it's Eastman and a small group of people. There's really only one purpose for these meetings, and that's to keep the grift money coming in.

The funny thing about this? this is almost exactly what I thought in 2016

When Trump said Mexico was sending rapists and murderers on the day be announced his campaign I said to myself “this won’t last long”

    and yet here we are

and if Trump runs again, and wins the nomination, and god forbid wins the presidency (especially if it’s from the new voter laws and assistance/shenanigans from Trumpers now in positions of power overseeing the elections) it will 100% be the fault of the ”silent majority“ that kept their mouths shut when they should have been screaming from rooftops

I thought exactly what you thought when Trump announced he was going to run for the Republican nomination. I seriously thought he was a novelty act and that Republicans would not vote for him. We all know how that turned out.

Here were are and the so-called silent majority is pretty much still silent. They have to get off their collective arses and make themselves heard. But, if they continue to remain silent and allow Trump to win the nomination again, I'm just going to start calling them all the gutless majority.

Trump is precisely why I'm no longer a Republican and I will remain an independent for as long as the party continues to elect idiots like MTG, Hawley, Cruz and their ilk to office.
