I’m sure much of us are having 2016 flashbacks this morning with a sick feeling to our stomachs..

2 of the last 3 elections Democrats have lost to a far right demagogue

Harris didn’t get close in many states to even Biden’s performance. We could very well lose the Presidency, Senate AND House depending on results the next few days…..

    What went wrong?
    What could’ve been done better?
What can we change in the future to ensure voters are motivated like they were when Obama was elected?

Democrats have no choice but to admit there’s a huge problem with some aspect of their platform— and to do a deep introspection of what’s going wrong..

The number of Americans who think that the Democratic Party has become too liberal is at an “all-time high,” according to a new poll.

The CNN survey found that support for left-wing candidates, including New York mayor Zohran Mamdani and Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, had surged in the party as the democratic socialist wing of the party grew.

However, this shift could be alienating more conservative Democrats and voters.

Around 58 percent of voters thought the party had become too liberal in 2025, spiking from 48 percent in 2013. That number was even lower during former President Bill Clinton’stime in office, hovering at 42 per cent in 1996.

“The Democrats are moving to the left, the far left is gaining power, and there could be some electoral repercussions because what we see right now is voters — the clear majority — say that they are too liberal,” Harry Enten, CNN’s senior data analyst, said.

According to his findings, a third of the party now say that they see themselves as being in line with Mamdani and Sanders’s left-leaning views, with around three in five Democrats describing themselves as somewhat liberal or very liberal.

According to Enten, the findings indicate a complete reversal of the Democratic Party’sbase in 1999 and a painful splitting in the party’s demographic structure.

“Back in 1999, 26% of Democrats self-identified as conservative,” he said. “Just 5% said that they were very liberal. It was a smidgen.”

Meanwhile, that conservative contingent of the party could have diminished to as little as 8 percent.……

I wonder how many of them could name specific policies they think are "too liberal".

IE: Is this less about Democrats and more about people falling for forty years of propaganda?

    Spot on!

They likely cannot even define “liberal policies”.

But I have a sneaking suspicion what many of them think is “too liberal/far left”. Anything that grants rights to groups they hate is first on the list. Next is anything that might change the way they do something such as emissions regulations or safety regulations.

It is amazing that this country has made it 250 years considering how racist, misogynistic, bigoted, unthinking and flat out stupid its people are in the aggregate.

And the "too liberal" candidates have been crushing their elections. Seems possible that there were more voters who thought the Democratic party was too conservative and stopped voting, but now that the Democratic party is "liberal enough" they've started voting for Democrats again.

I hope he at least waited until he knew his vote wouldn't change the outcome. If he's up for re-election and this helps him win, then I can stomach it. Still don't like it, though.

Screw Henry Cuellar, he's Peice of work who was convicted of corruption and pardoned by Trump. Then he ran for Congress again as a Democrat in 2024 and won, but he pretty much carries water for Trump and Republicans and votes with them often. Even with horrible crap like this that would hurt the community he represents. A better candidate, Ricardo Villarreal, is running in the democratic primary. Hopefully he will beat him, but given Cuellar is the incumbent I don't know. I really hope this is a change year.

PS. He also voted to fund ICE.

Ignore the polls. The polls told Kamala to court moderate Republicans and it did nothing to help her win. Liberal and progressive policies are what this country needs, even if many can't see it right now or are afraid of being "too liberal". Those pushing for real change need to ignore the labels and fear mongering and be strong and persuasive enough to shift the overton window. Do the right thing and what needs to be done to make this country better, and the people will follow with support.

Didn't know about his corruption conviction and being pardoned by Trump. I don't want anyone pardoned by Trump to have anything to do with the government at any level.

You also have to sell those policies.

It's telling that the policy to increase the minimum wage in Florida was overwhelmingly popular yet the Democratic candidate who supported it got crushed.

Progressive oyster farmer Graham Platner (D) holds comfortable double-digit leads over both Maine governor and Senate candidate Janet Mills (D) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), according to a new poll.

A University of New Hampshire Survey Center Pine Tree State poll released on Tuesday showed Platner leading Mills 64 percent to 26 percent, with 6 percent undecided or who didn’t know. That’s a 4-point increase in Platner’s margin since October when a similar poll had Platner at 58 percent and Mills at 24 percent, with 14 percent saying they didn’t know or were undecided.

Platner also comfortably leads Collins in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup at 49 percent to her 38 percent, with 9 percent saying they didn’t know or were undecided and 4 percent saying another candidate. Platner notably holds a 9-point edge over Collins among independents.

Those are great numbers this far out.

PA Senator John F is taking some heat for wearing a tie and shaking President Trump's hand as Trump entered. What say any of you on this topic?
