Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

Houthi leader issued this statement- no US ships in Red Sea

Houthis then attempted to strike US Carrier group

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:

So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

His first term ended in chaos and this term has been mired in chaos. Without the guardrails of institutionalists controlling him, he’s free to pursue his own self-interests and cause whatever damage he wants. Chaos is what he knows.

People can think what they want of Biden but his administration had the economy on the track of recovery from the pandemic and the damage done by Trump. A year later, it’s unrecognizable.
After J6, for we as a nation to elect him again (I guess, because a black woman is a bridge too far?) is... I can't even describe. I was watching Hawk's podcast and he said the rest of the world will blame us forever for doing this, which I agree with. He also had a hearty message to every American who voted for Trump in 2024, which I also agree with but cannot repeat here.

It’s easy to imagine why the people at the very top would align with Trump, but I’m at a loss that the well-to-do classes, outside of the 1%, still don’t recognize that they are going to get steam-rolled along with everybody else.

Callous indifference towards anyone they view as lower than them while worshiping anyone they view above them. I had someone (likely in the top 3-5%) gleefully tell me today how AI will replace me in a couple of years. Doesn't know or understand what I do. He just "knows" it's less important than him.

A hilarous ancedote from my job, I work as a network engineer in a datacenter org. We just fired my boss that was Mr. AI is going to do it all. He was tasked with inventory management, and used gemini to end of life/end of service dates instead of sending the info to our VAR to get accurate dates.

I feel like the people who say this are literally to dumb to realize how many times LLM's mess up.

I think causing global economic chaos was Trump’s intent all along for attacking Iran. He views everything through a lens of winners and losers. He frequently rails against allies for not doing their part. I think he genuinely believes that if other countries are punished, it’s somehow good for the U.S., but more importantly, in his mind, it’s a means to enrich himself.

He is subjecting the entire world to his reckless vision of a new world order. He is fleecing and looting his way to amassing even more wealth without regard for those who are suffering and the damage he is causing. Manipulated by sycophants and enabled by the cowardice of Republicans and don’t-blame-me-conservatives who won’t stand up to him.
Don't think that there has been a second of his life in which Trump has not been seething about never being the richest person on the planet, not even for a day. I think Trump's crazy amount of out in the open fraud and corruption is him making a desperate attempt to be the richest person on the planet, even if trying to do so kills him and millions of other people in the process.

Reuters is reporting an Amazon facility in Bahrain has been damaged in a strike by Iran. Evidently you now have to subscribe to Reuters, because it wouldn’t let me read the article.
Several months ago, I noticed the headlines and articles by Reuters starting to get more sensationally inaccurate and click baiting than usual, so I stopped reading them. It happened so sudden, that I think they had a serious management or ownership change, or they are struggling to stay afloat financially.

This remined me of a story about what he told an interviewer sometime in the mid 80's. I'm thinking of
selling all of my assets and properties and be the king of cash. You don't have to be a broker to know
that large sums of cash is not a good investment. Inflation will eventually eat it alive.
