Dr. Phil downplayed coronavirus on Fox News by exaggerating statistics about car accidents and swimming pool deaths when comparing them to COVID-19 deaths.

In the segment before, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the country, urged a cautious approach for states to slowly reopen their economies, saying the coronavirus was like nothing the country had ever seen before. Dr. Phil immediately undercut Dr. Fauci, arguing that states should reopen their economies even if lives might be lost in order to prevent anxiety and depression. “People are dying from the coronavirus,” Dr. Phil said. “I get that.” (HuffPost / Salon / Washington Post)

Put this in another thread, but won’t hurt putting it here too. No, Phil, this virus is nothing like the flu or car accidents. Heart disease isn’t contagious, simpleton.

Of course there is, and not surprising. I've heard of people having corona virus parties, and a preacher busing in 1,800 people to go to his sermon or whatever.

"The Life Tabernacle Church hosted 1,825 people at their Sunday morning service.
26 buses were used to pick people up from around the Baton Rouge area and transport them to Sunday service.
Pastor Tony Spell says the way to handle a pandemic is through the healing hand of Jesus."

People are just stupid.

From one of the sources:
CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, ABC News’ Dr. Jennifer Ashton, CBS News’ Dr. Jonathan LaPook and NBC News’ Dr. John Torres work as journalists and are beholden to research and data

Right away they've lost all credibility. CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC do not have journalists. They only have left wing hacks.

This is an example of the type of comment we do not wish to see on this board. It’s obviously intended to be inflammatory and if not trolling, is at least troll-adjacent. In the future this type of comment will most likely result in an infraction. Your argument can be made without being inflammatory.

No kidding.. Spell is the one who argued with the coroner about cause of death of one of the church members. Now he wants their stimulus checks.

Which is not true.

Why the need to make things worse than they are?

Are you speaking of Spanish Flu? That as 100 years ago and we had a much smaller population.

I am speaking of yellow fever, measles, and yes, the Spanish flu which, by virtue of the number of deaths (est. 195,000) vis a vis the population at the time ( about 100,000,000 ), and considering the state of healthcare in the 1910's, capacity and technology wise; and that the population in the 1910's wasn't anything close to being as mobile as they are now, it was exponentially worse than the current outbreak, which makes Dr. Fauci's statement false.

And what if the Spanish flu outbreak happened 100 years ago? The country wasn't found in 1920, or was it blind before it.

Fauci isn't a fraud.. Look at his credentials and his track record.

I didn't say he was a fraud. I said his statement that this is this outbreak was like nothing the country had ever seen before, is false.

I think if our response had been more aggressive early on lives may have been saved. I don't think playing down the threat was a good idea.

So you are not going to acknowledge that Dr. Fauci's statement is false?

So make the statement read “in our lifetimes” instead. Feel better? 😀

Right, just change what Dr. Fauci said. That way a certain someone does not have to admit what Fauci said was false. Problem solved.
