The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

You'd think. But since he apparently can't even be charged with a crime, I doubt a civil suit would go anywhere.

I can't believe his followers really think that ANTIFA is going around recruiting geriatrics to be plants at peaceful protests. This dude was just bringing them a police helmet that one of these finely trained officers happened to misplace and got knocked the ***** out for it and is now in the ICU.

So I read (on Twitter, so buyer beware) that this particular conspiracy theory was pushed on that new right wing web site that Trump likes because Fox is becoming too mainstream, lol, OANN. And, that the person pushing this theory on OANN is, wait for it, an RT reporter. So basically, it’s a Russian conspiracy theory, mainlined directly into Trump’s brain. You cannot make this stuff up.

Former State Republican chairman (can’t remember which state)

I bet these guys get a bonus every time they can get Trump to tweet one of their stories.

Now that I think about it, I have to give Donald J Trump the credit he deserves. He said he was going to make America Great again. We are now on the verge of actually making America great again by making it live up to the words of its constitution. And one of the unifying principles for that movement has been a shared disdain for trump and everything he stands for. America will be made great again...just not for the reasons trump and his supporters wanted it to be.

The Senate Intelligence Comittee had a hearing a couple years ago about the Russia Election Meddling and Fake News propaganda. One of three experts, Clinton Watts, made a comment about the difficulty of dealing with actual Fake News, and how we have a president who falls for it and amplifies it. He was very concerned about that.

I posted it back then, and it's a long hearing, so I'm sure no one will go through it..haha. But, it had a lot of very interesting information and analysis from various experts in the field.

Well, if you didn't believe Donald Trump was out to spur racial tensions and give a middle finger to the black community, maybe this will help confirm it:

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Cel-Liberation Day, is an American holiday celebrated on June 19. On June 19, 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation— which had been issued on January 1, 1863— was read to enslaved African Americans in Texas by Gordon Granger.

Holds a rally on Junetheenth right after scuffling with institutions trying to preserve trash Confederate flags.

    No, probably just a coincidence.

Yeah, no obvious dog whistle going on here at all. All just coincidence.

It's no doubt an entirely intentional choice, but I strongly suspect it'll be more insidious than just dog-whistling through the choice itself.

My guess would be that in whatever rambling speech he makes, he'll acknowledge the Black Wall Street massacre, and say what a terrible thing it was... because he'll then disingenuously seek to blame it on the Democrats (along with slavery), and then pivot to his false claim that there isn't anybody who's done more for the black community than he has (probably with a "maybe Lincoln" in there).

I highly, highly, doubt he'll do or announce anything genuinely substantial or meaningful for the black community of course, as his current rhetoric and attitude towards the Black Lives Matter protests illustrates. The intention would be to reinforce his own support, by putting up a figleaf over his own bigotry. It's the "I'm not racist" before the "but".

I could be wrong of course. We'll see.

This has the makings of an epic disaster

And why do it at all? it's a minefield - and even if he makes it to the other side by making a "good speech" no one outside his base will buy it because of everything he's said and done previously

And giving a "good speech" is the least likely outcome
    ========================================

Donald Trump will return to the 2020 campaign trail on June 19 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a move freighted with racial symbolism and one almost certain to end poorly for the incumbent president.

The selection of Tulsa as the place where Trump returns to the stump and the date on which he is choosing to do it both suggest that Trump's long-whispered-about race speech -- in the wake of ongoing protests and unrest following the death of George Floyd -- will happen next Friday, and at a campaign rally no less......

Its hard not to see this as intentional by the Trump campaign. While Oklahoma has no set limit on group gatherings, it's not a swing state, so there's no other obvious reason -- other than to address racial issues -- that Trump would stage his first rally in the state (and Tulsa particularly). And Trump could have done the rally on lots of days -- 364 of them actually! -- that don't commemorate the emancipation of slaves.

"The African American community is very near and dear to his heart," said White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Thursday of Trump's planned Tulsa rally on Juneteenth. "He's working on rectifying injustices. ... So it's a meaningful day to him and it's a day where wants to share some of the progress that's been made as we look forward and more that needs to be done."

This, uh, seems like a very bad idea.

Primarily because Trump is simply not a credible messenger on matters of race -- despite his repeated proclamations that he is the "least racist person there is anywhere in the world."...................................

“No city has treated its black people better than Tulsa Oklahoma”

    Trump (probably)

Trump made claims that the crime rate is record setting low since he took office yesterday when he was in Dallas where he conveniently didn't invite the black police chief, sheriff or mayor. He later tweeted the same lies.

This document is a history of goings on in our country dating back to 1900 (. The POTUS years at the end are interesting. Starts in 1903 with George Orwell's birth. Next entry is 1905, Fred Trump's birth. (I only skimmed certain sections because it's 21 pages long in tiny print but it's worth taking a look at.)
