The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

Does it appear like Mr Trump’s spiraling out of control is getting worse, or is this about the same as usual?

Its worse. We are 3 weeks away from Voting Day and he absolutely knows he is in re-election trouble. Couple that with what SDNY has been working on, the court rulings on his tax returns ( also has major IRS implications ).

What you now see is the desperation of "do anything" tactic to remain in the White House.

Do all Federal charges get run by the AG? I think Federal Prosecutors can bring charges without the AG being involved. The question is now that the charges have been brought will he try to interfere?

I don't know about all, but...something indirectly or directly tied to the Administration has to be run by the AG. I would be very surprised if Barr wasn't briefed on this. Doesn't make sense for any part of the DOJ to try and do this on the sly and without Barr's knowledge. I mean, it's possible, but highly unlikely imo.

I am reading that this guy is an ex political fund raiser, so no longer associated with Rs or Trump.

    What a whiny, little...

That being said, I think Whitmer should have left him out of her statement to the press. The moment she went there, she lost me and I turned her off. Had she made her point without even addressing trump, she would have come across as the bigger person and possibly gained more support in her state.

Not calling out extremists for what they are is why we have this mess.

Not calling out elected political leaders who have courted and emboldened these extremist for decades is why we have this mess.

After a failed attempt to abduct and murder Whitmore, it's irresponsible not to call out Trump for courting and emboldening these and other extremists.

This group begin their conspiracy to kidnap and murder Whitmore at the protest that Trump encouraged by tweeting "liberate Michigan."

Trump may not have lit the match that started this conspiracy, but he stacked up the pallets, soaked them in kerosene and yelled "light it up, boys."

There's nothing "being the bigger person" about not calling out people who encite and emobolden extremists with their rhetoric, especially when that person is the president of the U.S.

Everything you said is true and I believe that most Americans know that to be the case. For the Governor to make that a highlight in press conference was an unnecessary diversion into the presidential campaign, without even mentioning it and sticking with the facts of the criminal complaint would have had a bigger impact on that campaign.

Her interview with GMA was much better than yesterday's press conference but even then, her comments drifted off to the 2020 campaign and I think she should keep the focus on herself instead of tying what happen to her to the Presidential campaign. The voters should be able to make those ties themselves, we don't need her to hammer home the obvious.

Remember when conservatives said it was the responsibility of peaceful Muslims to denounce the extremist elements in their communities?

    Pepperidge Farms remembers.

That is a great reference in so many ways. I visualized it as the Family Guy version of the two old white guys on a horse drawn wagon.

I appreciate her sincerity and honesty....maybe it's easy to say above when you aren't under threat of kidnapping and death....
