I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

I’d like to highlight this first paragraph:

These videos were “hidden” by Pelosi, the media and the Democrats?

This is just a fairy tale, crazy claim. This right here shows you have completely parted ways with reality.

Pelosi wasn’t on the committee, the media presumably hasn’t had access to these videos, and neither has the Democratic Party. How can you “hide” something you never had?

Even the committee itself didn’t have access to all this footage.

You should explain how you came to the conclusion you stated above.

Why are you surprised here? You watch, the GOP and their Alt-Right goons will begin diminishing the death and suffering of those from the J6 riot. Blaming victims is their MO in most other things (the poor, minorities, Trans people, etc), so it's definitely in their wheelhouse. We've seen evidence of this approach right here in this thread.

Yeah I’ve noticed. It just needs to be called out, imo. Now please excuse me there’s a windmill I have to go tilt at, lol.

Another Tucker lie exposed. He claims the QAnon Shaman was escorted by police the entire time he was in the building. The footage he showed was actually police escorting him out of the building after the decision was made they didn’t have the ability to do wholesale arrests that day. He entered with a group who broke a window and then forced a door open from the inside.

the video of him entering through a broken window/door was just an ANTIFA dressed like him,, gawd, can't yall just see that??? lol

Donald Trump on Monday responded to Mike Pence’s contention that history will hold him accountable for the January 6 attack on Congress, saying the deadly attack was his former vice-president’s fault.

“Had he sent the votes back to the legislatures, they wouldn’t have had a problem with January 6, so in many ways you can blame him for January 6,” Trump told reporters on a flight to Iowa for a campaign appearance.

He was referring to his attempt to have Pence, in his role as Senate president, refuse to certify election results in battleground states, on grounds of supposed electoral fraud, thereby overturning Trump’s conclusive defeat by Joe Biden.

Trump added: “Had he sent them back to Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona … I believe, number one, you would have had a different outcome. But I also believe you wouldn’t have had ‘January 6’ as we call it.”……

Just like a mob boss. If you’d only gone along with my crime, nothing bad would have happened.

He took a plea deal while the DOJ withheld evidence. How do you know if he would have taken the plea deal and plead guilty after he saw the evidence that was withheld? Do you think it's okay to withhold evidence from the defendant?
Again, it would have made absolutely no difference. You sound like you're shilling for people participating in an insurrection. It's your right, but it's also reprehensible.

And fwiw, I watched a couple of hours of video, and I turned it off because one, it made me angrier than I already was because it reminded me of thise terrible day, and two, the people breaking in and damaging the Capitol in addition to attempting to overthrow a legitimate election didn't get punished nearly enough.

If you (general you) don't think this was a terrible day in our history, frankly, you don't give a sheet about our country.

January 6th is really the clearest example I can think of where people have revealed who they really are as citizens of this country.

It was a terrible day and it was an insurrection. An inability to admit the truth there demonstrates that one is supportive or sympathetic towards what happened. Otherwise it should be very, very easy to call that there spade a spade.

funy the group who yell the loudest about people not takng responsibiliy for their actions are the biggest offenders...
I think they feel like they're siding with Democrats (weak/bad) over Republicans (strong/good) if they admit the truth of it and call it the "insurrection" it demonstrably was. They're too extreme in their partisanship and hatred of the left to allow themselves to go there because to go there is, to them, a display of that weakness.

So instead they display actual weakness with their inability to deal with the issue in reality.

My friend's cultist brother and his friend drove up to DC overnight with guns and body armor.. and quite assuredly they are not alone.. shirt is an absolute tinder box of nutjobs.
Heh, not sure how to see the exact timestamp but I made this post the morning of January 6th prior to shirt going crazy. Like I've said, for some it was about violently preventing Biden from taking office.. which makes it an insurrection by definition. Truly not even up for debate amongst rational people.

If you hover over the date in the upper hand corner of the post it will give you the time stamp (you made that post at 7:55am eastern time).

Jan 6 should shake everyone to the core, and make you wonder about some (a million or more?) of the people you live amongst as far as dedication to the principles the Country was founded under, and how many people who call themselves patriots actually support those standards vs playing Trump’s Fool’d Ya game. There is a strong argument for corruption of ideals for political advantage and power. Start by looking at the MAGA Crowd and the sheep eager to sheared with Right Wing clippers.

Federal prosecutors in Washington have reportedly told court officials a thousand more people could be charged in relation to the deadly January 6 Capitol attack.

Matthew Graves, the US attorney in Washington DC, sent a one-page letter to the chief judge of Washington DC federal court, apprising her of the potential deluge of defendants, Bloomberg Newsreported.

The correspondence provides details on what the US attorney general, Merrick Garland, has described as “one of the largest, most complex and most resource-intensive investigations in our history”.

Graves said in the letter that justice department officials estimated that another 700 to 1,200 defendants could face charges. That would nearly double the number of criminal cases relating to January 6, Bloomberg noted.

More than a thousand people have faced charges for alleged involvement in the Capitol riot. Those who attacked Congress did so at the urging of Donald Trump, seeking to thwart certification of Joe Biden’s election win…….

Tell me again how it wasn't an insurrection?

A retired Air Force officer who stormed the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection was sentenced to two years in prison Friday.

A release from the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia states 55-year-old Lance Brock, a resident of Galveston, Texas, was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment for a felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding.

The release states Brock posted messages on social media in the leadup to the insurrection about what was coming, including one that said, “I prefer insurrection at this point” and another that said, “our second American Revolution begins in less than two days.”

He also wrote a few days before the riot that “[Then-president-elect] Biden won’t be inaugurated. We will ensure that on the 6th.”

Classic case where a retired officer should be re-called to active duty and court-martialed. He should lose his military retirement and be stripped of all rank. He's a disgrace to the people who wear the uniform.

Same should be the case for Michael Flynn IMO, dangerous, deluded and evil individual
