I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

I watched a little of it and according to My Pillow Guy, two miracles happened the night of the election:
    • Miracle #1 - Donald Trump got so many more votes than expected, it broke the machines and forced them to have to recalibrate them.
    • Miracle #2 - "Every one of these states, if the electors had done their jobs, Donald Trump wins and then we wouldn't be where we are right now."

Instead of airing a 90 second ‘please don’t sue us’ disclaimer couldn’t OAN given him his money back and not aired the special?

Yes, if they didn't totally agree with the "special". I reckon that's why suing OAN was being rumored - by airing it, even with a disclaimer, they're still complicit. Chuck will probably come legally beat me down on that one though :hihi:

I'm no lawyer, but Mother Jones quoted a lawyer. Dominion's lawyer, in fact.

And the OAN disclaimer might not work. In fact, it might make things worse for this media organization, which in recent years practically made Giuliani a correspondent as he advanced one Trump-aiding conspiracy theory after another. Tom Clare, the lawyer for Dominion, has recently hinted that the firm is not done filing lawsuits. He has publicly said that Dominion will probably bring cases against other media companies and personalities. The company has sent letters demanding the preservation of records to OAN, Newsmax, the Epoch Times, and several right-wing media personalities, including Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Maria Bartiromo, and Greg Kelly.

On Friday afternoon, I asked Clare, “What do you make of the OAN disclaimer….Does that afford OAN any protection?” His reply indicates that the disclaimer stunt will likely make things worse for OAN:
“Nice try” by OAN, but it definitely does not relieve them of liability. To the contrary, we warned them specifically and in writing that they would be broadcasting false and defamatory statements of fact if they broadcast the program, and they made the affirmative decision to disregarded that warning and broadcast it anyway. Other outlets have refused to host it. Textbook actual malice.

That crap is two hours long. I’ll wait until the next lawsuit comes out to find out what was in it.

I watched 10 minutes. He quickly startedgoing state by state, each with a slide of "facts". The problem is that there is no sourcing on any of the information, which is an obvious red flag. When I fact-checked some of the stuff on the first state, Michigan, it inevitably came up as debunked.

This one of the best articles that I've read in a while. I'm sure some will complain of both sides, but it's still worth checking out.

It’s good to see that you’re starting to evaluate your sources and can now recognize both sides bullshirt.

The next step for you is not to accept it as equivalent.

Very predictable. I knew the complaint about both sides was coming. What's wrong with cricizing both sides?

    Which sources?

There’s nothing wrong with criticizing both sides.

There’s a massive problem with attempting to draw an equivalence between the failures of one side with the failures of the other side.

Good. I think this is probably where charges might stick. There's a record and I think could end up being pretty serious. You can't have a sitting President using the power of his office to coerce government officials into producing an outcome favorable to himself.

I think if he's charged and found guilty here, he's done.

Lol, they had to chase the Q-uacken across state lines...

Dominion had to pursue Powell “across state lines," which forced the company to have "unnecessary expenses for extraordinary measures to effect service [of process]," it wrote in the filing. Powell also "refused to respond" to requests from Dominion's legal team that would have allowed Powell more time to respond, the filing said.
