I haven't been watching much news since the election, but this assassination attempt on the CEO of United Healthcare caught my attention. What are you thoughts on it?

This was clearly a targeted murder. The murderer even wrote messages on the bullet casings. The difference in responses to this between the media/political class and the general public commenting on the story is night and day. There is almost no sympathy or shock from the general public responding to this story, more of a "not surprised, what do you expect" response. There seems to be more sympathy or justification for the murderer and the situation people assume he's in because of his actions. My own initial reaction was also along the lines of not being surprised. Just take a second to read through comments on any youtube or news story about this. I honestly can't remember such a strident reaction from the general public to a story about an assassination of somebody that wasn't a well known antagonist (i.e. like Donald Trump, another billionaire) in recent memory.

Clearly not everybody is blaming minorities and illegal immigrants for their problems. Do you think we will be seeing more of this type of violence against the elite CEO and billionaire class going forward? Should they take this as a warning?

I see this as a bad omen for our society, but as I already said, not a surprising one. United Healthcare has the highest rejection rate for insurance claims among all insurers and a lot of the policies that this guy implemented are the reason why. People are raging at the imbalance in our society and tried of being squeezed at every corner and they have easy access to weapons. Given that Republicans will do nothing to address these inequities, I only see the violence escalating from here.

RFK Jr. already tells us in his two books. Why should we who have read RFK Jr. have to repeat ourselves?
Tell me what medical degree RFK jr. holds and what research papers he has published? I mean if you consider him a medical expert he must have spend years studying with the finest experts, right ?

There's only two atoms of chlorine in hydroxychloroquine, you get a heavier dose swimming in a pool.
This is such a mind-boggling stupid statement.

Malaria was once rampant in the swamps of lower Michigan.
Cool. Malaria is not Covid, just like monkeys are not narwhals.

If you wanted to kill a monkey, drowning it would be a good option, but wouldn’t be a very effective choice against a narwhal.

RFK Jr. already tells us in his two books. Why should we who have read RFK Jr. have to repeat ourselves?
Well, because you’re not repeating yourself if RFK said it and you haven’t said anything yet.

    I don't understand this comment.
I am sorry you don't. I guess some just look at Obamacare and how it was sold to America, why are there till so many problems?
Can you tell us how you think Obamacare made healthcare worse?
Do you have a plan from the exchange? What is YOUR deductible? Ho much of a subsidy, if any, do you get?

I'm going to assume that you are stridently against a single payer model for healthcare since you rail at anything that could be considered "left". So what's your plan and model for healthcare that would make it better? Do you even have a concept of a plan?

I can not stop you from your erroneous 'assumptions'. Please list all the times I have railed against single payer or any other type of healthcare system. Go!

The ACA removed caps on levels of care from insurance. They can no longer charge more, or deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. There are more, but it's stuff like that.

It's logically consistent for people to acknowledge the ACA made private insurance better, but that it still sucks.

It's something like 1/3 adult Americans have experienced a claim denial.

yes, access to high priced policies with ridiculously high deductibles. What is YOUR deductible on your Obamacare plan?

Sorry it took you so long. Glad you almost got it!
Sorry, failure, but your inability to understand virtually anything is your problem and not mine.

But, then again, it is doubtful you will ever understand anything beyond what talking points you pick up from your false god and his high priests.

Please explain why the ACA is well liked but Obamacare isn’t.

    I am on Medicare.

I said "assume", meaning I did not know for sure, that is why I asked. So does that mean you are in favor of a single payer healthcare model? If not, what are you for?

Funny and sad at the same time to see people writing stuff like "well, it's understandable" about the murder.
And all the complaints about the healthcare system made so much better by Obamacare!
45 million people are insured through ACA.

More of the madness of RFK, Jr. and his cronies

A lawyer in his circle of whackjobbery has petitioned the FDA to withdraw approval of the polio vaccine and hepatitis B vaccine.

They seem eager to take us back to an era when preventable diseases devastated lives. I remember a classmate in elementary school who was crippled by polio—a heartbreaking reminder of what happens without proper public health measures. Do we really want to return to those dark times? It feels like the conspiracy-driven rhetoric from some groups today, particularly those aligned with certain extremist factions, is designed to harm the American people under the guise of ‘freedom’ or ‘anti-government sentiment.’ These actions undermine science and public welfare, putting countless lives at risk.

    So you refuse to answer.

ACA was kneecapped when the mandate was removed.

Southern states refuse to take federal funds for it.

You can't successfully implement a national solution when 1/2 of the states refuse to participate and the courts said nobody has to.

And for the record I have Cadillac insurance - $900 out of pocket yearly maximum for family of four for an old school PPO. I pay $400 a month pre tax. Perk of the job.

My heath plan should be the norm, not the unicorn aberration it is.

    So you refuse to answer.
So, you fail to understand what the difference between the ACA and Medicare is. Unsurprising, really.

Now, speaking of answers, why is the ACA so well liked but Obamacare isn’t?

Never mind. Can’t wait for the answer.

If the government is going to be involved in healthcare, I would like to see the government hire its own doctors, run its own hospitals and clinics, hire its own nurses, staff, etc. . Let anyone with employer or private insurance obtained on their own keep it if they choose. Make anyone with government-sponsored healthcare insurance go to only the government facilities. No paperwork needed, simply show your valid government ID. Hire doctors nearing the end of their practices to work (they may not want the expense of running an office themselves and pay exorbitant malpractice insurance), hire new graduates and those with a lot of student debt. Have them sign a work contract for a set period of time, and then the debts are forgiven at the end of their contracts. Don't allow folks to sue the government over minor mistakes.
What I have seen when I tried to get a policy on the exchange was very high rates and crazy-high deductibles. Great if you face a catastrophic event, but not much good otherwise. But can people who must receive a subsidy to get one of those plans even afford the deductibles running in the thousands?
