I haven't been watching much news since the election, but this assassination attempt on the CEO of United Healthcare caught my attention. What are you thoughts on it?

This was clearly a targeted murder. The murderer even wrote messages on the bullet casings. The difference in responses to this between the media/political class and the general public commenting on the story is night and day. There is almost no sympathy or shock from the general public responding to this story, more of a "not surprised, what do you expect" response. There seems to be more sympathy or justification for the murderer and the situation people assume he's in because of his actions. My own initial reaction was also along the lines of not being surprised. Just take a second to read through comments on any youtube or news story about this. I honestly can't remember such a strident reaction from the general public to a story about an assassination of somebody that wasn't a well known antagonist (i.e. like Donald Trump, another billionaire) in recent memory.

Clearly not everybody is blaming minorities and illegal immigrants for their problems. Do you think we will be seeing more of this type of violence against the elite CEO and billionaire class going forward? Should they take this as a warning?

I see this as a bad omen for our society, but as I already said, not a surprising one. United Healthcare has the highest rejection rate for insurance claims among all insurers and a lot of the policies that this guy implemented are the reason why. People are raging at the imbalance in our society and tried of being squeezed at every corner and they have easy access to weapons. Given that Republicans will do nothing to address these inequities, I only see the violence escalating from here.

Actually, I’m in my mid 50s.I take no meds I could handle $1 million payout if I had to I wouldn’t like it but I could. It is called financial planning. But I have very good insurance as well because I pay for it. Best of luck with your health issues. Back to the topic at hand, some cowardly lowlife shot a man in the back and killed him. He had a wife and two children. Some’s belief that the shooter was somehow justified is an embarrassment to them.
I never cease to be amazed at the lack of empathy conservatives display. The total inability to consider how others may feel who are in different positions than they are. It’s just arrogance and assholery, basically.

This guy obviously thinks he’s better than others because of his financial situation.

Not that it matters in the slightest - but they were in the middle of a very messy divorce. Nobody is saying the killing is justified, so you can get off that particular high horse.

What we are saying is that this man’s policies that he personally implemented at his company are responsible for deaths and suffering among his company’s clients. So we aren’t going to treat him as if he’s a good guy. He was evil in his own way.

If it didn’t matter in the slightest well, why did you bring it up? :) The only person I see lacking empathy are people trying to make justifications for why they think it was OK buy and large that this happened.

    Cool story, bro.

Could you have done it at, say, 25? Because you know people get multi-million dollar illnesses before they have half a lifetime to financially plan, right?

Just out of curiosity, would you sympathize with the killer at all if you found out he lost a child because United Healthcare delayed and then denied a life-saving treatment?

this is the third time I've asked and I am really curious as to what your thoughts are.

I had to go away for a few minutes and this was playing. I assume you dont get this either

I would have to know more details, But I could sympathize up until the point that he cowardly shot a man in the back in cold blood. Do you not comprehend that? Not to mention the fact that he was hanging out at Starbucks, caught in picture smiling before he did it. Do some of you not pay attention? Again, I wish his friends and family all the best in the trying time. Based on his decision to shoot somebody cowardly in the back and murder them in cold blood, I have no more sympathy to give for this lowlife and I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life. Hopefully he gets a fun roommate to spend his time with :)

Slow your roll, pal. I just asked a question to see what your thoughts were. You have no idea what I comprehend or what I have paid attention to in this case because I haven't said anything about it here or in any other place.

    you just dont get it

if you are real which i doubt. enjoy for the next 20 and then bye bye. Eff you and the horse you rode in on

He doesn't have to have any idea regarding your comprehension because he's a dumb 15 year old troll with a billion gazillion dollars.
You are a funny person. Not even close to 15. I wish I was again, those days are long gone. I did have a lot of fun in my teenage years. Looking back, I could’ve probably had some more. Too bad we don’t get a redo, but I’m good with where I’m at in life. Too many are not because they don’t plan ahead at all for the future. Have a great night.

1789 France says welcome to the guillotine. History repeats itself. do you seriously want to be on the wrong side

You should read the article. Frey, the Minneapolis mayor who is a democrat called him a great man. Then there are other people on the Internet that are truly sad individuals in my opinion who have no life and are too partisan to understand the bigger picture. This man and father and still husband was shot down and killed in cold blood in the back by a lowlife Peice of work.

you seriously need to look in the mirror

you just don't get. I'm out before I type something about you i'll regret later, You are a Peice of work. I'll leave it at that
Have a great night. Because him and his family aren’t currently. Try to remember that!

    you are though
Whatever, I’m going to watch NFL highlights for the games today. I’m not gonna waste my time with you anymore on this. Like I said try to remember that a wife and two kids and the rest of his family are not having a good night and likely won’t for a long time. You don’t seem to understand that but I wish you all the best and a great night sleep because you and I get to wake up tomorrow, he doesn’t.

I saw a TikTok from a retired FBI special agent that was interesting. He has what he freely admits is a conspiracy theory, which he says he isn’t that kind of person, but this is his opinion based on numerous murder investigations over 25 years.

He says that the shots of this guy at Starbucks and elsewhere where his face is revealed don’t seem right to him. The guy was good at what he did - during the shooting his face was covered, he had knowledge of where and approximately when the guy would be exposed, he seemed to be able to mostly avoid cameras at that time, he was very “professional” - he was calm, deliberate, he walked away, he never showed any emotion and was successful at getting out of the city unobserved. This doesn’t track (to him) with a revenge shooting. At all.

He thinks the words written on the shell casings and the photos of the man at Starbucks and the hostel are red herrings. A guy possibly hired to dress like the assassin and draw people off. Words written on shell casings to draw people off.

Just his gut instinct, he said. I did read that Thompson had recently been rumored to be cooperating with law enforcement on a criminal investigation of UHC. Plus there is the ongoing messy divorce.

Maybe this isn’t about revenge for UHC’s denial of a claim? Just a thought.

Looks like they caught the person responsible in Pennsylvania. Apparently there was a lot of identifying information on him that connected him to the crime, which seems very odd to me given how he carried out the murder.
