There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

This guy really needs to be stopped. I think SCOTUS should be the ones to stop him too - before one of his insane cult members kills someone. They need to do more than give a one sentence denial on this one. They need to rip everyone who signed onto this garbage a new one. Not to mention that he pretty kuch concedes the election right here too.

The fallout will be interesting to watch
    ===================
PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey spent much of Donald Trump’s presidency trying not to provoke confrontation with the president or his fervent defenders. He almost made it through.

But when state law required Ducey to certify Arizona’s presidential election results and sign off on Trump’s defeat last week, four years of loyalty wasn’t enough to protect him from the president. “Republicans will long remember!,” Trump tweeted in anger at the governor.

Since then, the episode has spiraled into a public and politically damaging dispute between Ducey and influential Trump loyalists in his own party.

Those who believe Trump’s unproven claims of fraud and support his effort to undermine the will of voters say Ducey betrayed his party. His defenders have dismissed the critics as “nuts.”

The rift may be a preview the lasting political impact of Trump’s campaign to subvert the election results.

As the president’s baseless claims gain traction with many GOP voters, Republican officeholders will be asked to take sides — back Trump or acknowledge the reality that Biden won an election with no proven claims of widespread fraud.

Their choices could have long-term consequences for their own political futures.........

Oh, they will show great courage and wisdom, along with following the constitution. They will save the USA..

    From you.

yes, it would be exactly like that

In citations providing a textbook definition of the word chutzpah, outgoing President Donald Trump’s attorney told a federal judge on Thursday that a ruling voiding federal elections in Wisconsin would rank in the annals of legal history among Brown v. Board of Education and Loving v. Virginia.

Such a ruling would ignite “howls of protests” but ultimately lead to “greater freedom,” Trump’s attorney Bill Bock III declared................

Y'know, despite how un-American this all is, it's going to do nothing but increase brand loyalty with Republicans. The average Joe sees this and believes the GOP is really fighting, really giving all they have to keep this alleged travesty of justice from happening.

Meanwhile, the Dems rolled over like trained dogs when a SCOTUS seat was flat-out stolen.

Bullock for the win. I also saw that Letitia James is going to be doing something, supposedly with other AGs supporting her, challenging this TX suit in the supreme court.

This here shows the hypocrisy that's been mentioned numerous times. The MT (R) congressman who just won his race to be the next governor is claiming that the swing states election results shouldn't count because those states did the exact same thing that MT did. Why isn't he challenging the results of his own election if this is anything more than political theater?

This is exactly why I think SCOTUS needs to be vocal about this, but they probably won't.

"Follow the Constitution" - that's precisely what they're doing. He's the one calling for destruction of the constitutional process.

I don't see how to place value in enthusiasm for trying to destroy the system because you don't like its results. The fight against the election result is shameful, anti-democratic, and will be judged so by history.

In 2016, the Senate majority simply refused to consent to a Supreme Court vacancy nomination. It challenged tradition and good-governance, but it was within the rules. What should the Democrats have done that would have looked any different than this ridiculous, pathetic display we're seeing from (some) Republicans now?

Destructive spasms against our constitutional system because we feel slighted by a result are the part of the problem, not the solution. It also misses the fact that more than 1/3 of voters don't identify as Republicans or Democrats. There's really not that much value in boosting enthusiasm in your own committed base while showing the more independently minded voters (who often win elections) that you're bat-shirt crazy and willing to pull the temple down for something as foolishly short-sided as a single election.

Elections have consequences, It wouldn't have been stolen had we won in 2016...just sayin.

I wish JBE would submit something like this as a big fork you to Landry. But unfortunately, I think he's going into campaign mode to run for the Senate and don't want to piss people off.

Kinda had to vote for a bad candidate that most people didn't like. Clinton was just a bad candidate the DNC forced down people's throats to the nomination.

No doubt she was a bad candidate and got the nod as a result of a semi closed primary, but she was all we had, I voted for her because I knew that the alternative was nothing but a bad joke. Like I said before, we need get rid of our purity requirements and start standing behind our "D" candidates

Assuming for a moment that Democrats manage to pull off victories in both Georgia Senate races, I wonder if all of this crap Republicans are pulling will move Manchin to support an expansion of the Supreme Court?

Sure think it ought to and if this hasn't moved him then nothing likely will.
