    There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

    Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

    Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

    So few Republicans willing to stand up for their country. Appalling, really.

    Well, the few Republicans like myself willing to stand up have left the party. I mean, there is Romney and maybe even Collins. But I'm having a hard time thinking of who in the Republican leadership is calling for Trump to concede. They need to do it in public, and loudly. The silence is deafening.

    When you're a bridge too far for Tucker Carlson you've got a problem
    ============================
    As Fox News host Tucker Carlson noted on Thursday night, he’s more than willing to give airtime to outlandish claims. “We literally do UFO segments,” he said.

    But even Carlson said he was fed up with the total lack of evidence produced by Sidney Powell, one of the Trump campaign’s attorneys, for her unfounded allegation that electronic voting systems had switched millions of ballots to favor President-elect Joe Biden.

    “We invited Sidney Powell on the show. We would have given her the whole hour,” Carlson said. “But she never sent us any evidence, despite a lot of requests, polite requests. Not a page. When we kept pressing, she got angry and told us to stop contacting her.”

    Carlson also noted: “She never demonstrated that a single actual vote was moved illegitimately by software from one candidate to another. Not one.”...............

    Came across this article:

    Many voters interviewed by Reuters said they formed their opinions by watching emergent right-wing media outlets such as Newsmax and One American News Network that have amplified Trump’s fraud claims. Some have boycotted Fox News out of anger that the network called Biden the election winner and that some of its news anchors - in contrast to its opinion show stars - have been skeptical of Trump’s fraud allegations.

    Last night a dude on FB was touting this as absolute proof and because he only watches OANN he will never hear or know that it's BS. So once again, the damage is done.
    Sounds like he just needs a little logic and reasoning from you man.

    .. Honestly over the years I've unfollowed every friend and family member on Facebook who posts stupid shirt so while they're still posting it I'm sure, I never see it.

    I'd done that but was somehow still getting inundated with notifications from pages I never joined, followed or "liked" every time Trump would wipe his butt. "Trump about to be live in Oshgosh," types of notifications but like multiplied by 10 and all for the same thing, just on different pages.

    I deactivated my account. Haven't missed it one bit. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about it since I don't know when.

    Never had that, but I know that leading up to the election in 2016 when Facebook still had their news feature or whatever, mine was absolutely inundated with right-wing bullshirt even though I never visited that type of stuff on Facebook or elsewhere.
