Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

Who collects and analyzes the data? If they are in any way part of the Republican administration, then I don't trust the report. It's good it didn't rise by 2.5%, but it still hurts a lot of people that it rose by 2.4%.

Food and energy are still rising and squeezing people, so I don't think things are getting better for people overall.

The American Farm Bureau Federation’s Samantha Ayoub reported that “the U.S. Courts report that 315 farm bankruptcies were filed in calendar year 2025, up 46% from 2024. While still down from recent highs, this is the second year in a row of increased filings.”
