I don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand I say let it collapse. This was what those fork heads voted for. On the other hand, a collapse will hurt a lot of people who don't deserve this forking mess. And something tells me that the (R) will somehow blame Democrats for this.

Or if a (D) gets elected and it takes forever to clean up this mess the administration left, that these stupid people will vote for another Republican afterwards, because they don't realize how long it could possibly take to fix the mess that was left.

No…. In situations like these, i try to put myself in the mind of a conservative.. every conservative ive ever known, at least the ones in my orbit- they only care about stuff if it affects them PERSONALLY .. classic example is Nancy Reagan being a good Republican who was against stem cell research until she thought it could help with Ronnie’s Alzheimer’s, then she did a U turn and was all for it .. and we all know that Maga is far worse than mere conservatism .

I say all that to say that ive been paying into SS since im 14 years old, and unless they want to cut me a check with interest, i would prefer it not to collapse, selfishly .

I can't really disagree. But I think some people won't really grasp who/what they voted for, until it severely damages their lives in some way. But by then it will be too late and a lot of people will probably be saying "who could have predicted this would happen?!" (By voting for people who did not keep it a secret what they would do with being elected in positions of power and influence)

I guess if i were being really selfish- id say maybe you are right, let it collapse short term so that Trump voters can feel what they hath wrought… then somehow let it magically be available again in 12 0r 15 years when i want to collect it…. Im afraid that’s not how life works though .

I have my doubts it’ll get to that point because the GOP knows it will be a detriment to the party post Trump

Yeah, I really don’t think they will shut down social security as much as they would like to.

Their cuts to Medicaid, IMO, are going to blow up in their faces. Small rural hospitals are dependent on Medicaid. Their constituency will be hurt and angry when their local hospital closes their doors.

Also, middle class elderly who need nursing home care use Medicaid quite a bit. Cutting the program that allows Granny to stay in the home without draining her childrens’ savings will not go down well in working class families.

I think these idiots think that only people on welfare use Medicaid. They are in for a rude awakening.

Steve Bannon thinks these cuts are going backfire so bad. It will end this whole thing.

Having worked for a benefits paying agency this is probably accurate, it's what we used to call the auto-roll.....BUT, depending on the reliability (bugs, unintended consequences with changes, etc) cutting much of the support staff could still have dire consequences.....

I had already made my decision to collect SS at 62 (in just over a year from now) because it takes you until the late 70's to make up the 3 years if you wait until 65....but I'm not totally convinced that it will still be around in it's same form in the near future.....

I would be willing to bet that all the right wing billionaires want to eliminate social security and Medicare. Musk is just stupid enough to say it so plainly.

Changes this year to Tricare, the military’s health care program, have brought cascading disruptions to millions of service members, their families and network providers nationwide.

About 16,000 health care providers on the East Coast alone have not been paid for months, forcing many to drop Tricare patients, reduce their hours or consider closing their clinics. On the West Coast, federal officials said, beneficiaries are struggling with a host of issues, including long wait times at call centers and stalled referrals and authorizations.

The disruptions to a network that provides benefits to about 9.6 million people have left military members scrambling to secure medical, behavioral and mental health services for themselves and their loved ones, as advocates worry about lasting repercussions.

In Tennessee, Army Sgt. Bo Heggins has relied on Tricare for years to cover occupational therapy for his 8-year-old son who has autism. Up to eight hours with a provider each week had helped his son learn life and conversational skills. The progress was visible, and Heggins, 35, had hope that his son could grow to live a happy, independent life.

As a retiree, I just received three "surprise" bills for a procedure I received over six months ago that were previously authorized by TRICARE and they were supposed to have been fully covered as it had been in the past. The GOP doesn't give a shirt about Vets, THEY NEVER HAVE.

Social Security is probably the only thing the GOP are scared of even mentioning or even changing.
To be honest, it would take more than one presidential term to do, even if the wanted to.

They aren’t afraid any longer, or rather they will be afraid to contradict Musk or Trump about it.

Which is crazy because billionaires, millionaires and anybody making over $200,000 a year don’t even pay that much into it. They get off on the cheap. It makes no since that they want to destroy it so much other than because of some ideological extremism.
