Which of crazy because billionaires, millionaires and anybody making over $200,000 a year don’t even pay that much into it. They get off on the cheap. It makes no since that they want to destroy it so much other than because of some ideological extremism.
They don’t want people to retire - they want them to keep working until they die. We have a labor shortage and I remember reading one of billionaire tech bros saying that we need to force older people back into the workforce.

Of course - firing millions of federal workers will ease that labor shortage as well…..

I wish I shared your optimism. They’ve never bucked Trump on anything yet.
If this administration were competent, I’d have more worry, but it’s been shown no one knows what to do.

Not to downplay everything, but something like this takes more than one term.
And with each passing day, this administration becomes less powerful.

Changes this year to Tricare, the military’s health care program, have brought cascading disruptions to millions of service members, their families and network providers nationwide.

About 16,000 health care providers on the East Coast alone have not been paid for months, forcing many to drop Tricare patients, reduce their hours or consider closing their clinics. On the West Coast, federal officials said, beneficiaries are struggling with a host of issues, including long wait times at call centers and stalled referrals and authorizations.

The disruptions to a network that provides benefits to about 9.6 million people have left military members scrambling to secure medical, behavioral and mental health services for themselves and their loved ones, as advocates worry about lasting repercussions.

In Tennessee, Army Sgt. Bo Heggins has relied on Tricare for years to cover occupational therapy for his 8-year-old son who has autism. Up to eight hours with a provider each week had helped his son learn life and conversational skills. The progress was visible, and Heggins, 35, had hope that his son could grow to live a happy, independent life.

As a retiree, I just received three "surprise" bills for a procedure I received over six months ago that were previously authorized by TRICARE and they were supposed to have been fully covered as it had been in the past. The GOP doesn't give a shirt about Vets, THEY NEVER HAVE.
Well, I guess I need to get used to this happening. It was nice having a roof over my head!

A Navy veteran and his wife said they were blindsided when Tricare, the military’s health care program, rescinded over $100,000 in medical claims it had approved and paid several years ago.

Harve Smith, 71, received a $470 bill in January for dermatologist visits in 2020. He thought it was a one-off error until he discovered that Tricare had retroactively denied 26 more claims for a total of about $3,000 worth of services it had already reimbursed providers for since 2019, when he first enrolled in Tricare For Life, a plan for Tricare-eligible people who have Medicare.

Tricare also reversed approvals for at least 10 claims, totaling about $100,400, for his wife, Janice, in the same time frame, while nine other claims that had once been marked as completed are being re-processed, according to records from her Tricare portal, which NBC News reviewed.

“We don’t know where this ends,” said Janice Smith, 67, who has multiple sclerosis and worries the stress will aggravate the autoimmune disorder.

I’m guessing there are a lot more people than this one guy. DOGE is most likely messing around with the Social Security system. If you don’t want to read - this guy’s payments were suspended without notification. They did fix it and pay him for the missed month, but they refuse to tell him why or how or even when exactly it got suspended. He was born to a US Service member on a US base in a foreign country, and says that is the only thing he could figure that would have flagged his account.

Musk has been making public statements that “democrats are signing up non-citizens for social security benefits in order to get more voters, and if DOGE stops these payments the people will leave”. The man guesses the address on his birth certificate may have flagged his account, even though he is a natural-born US citizen.

With the pushback Republicans are getting at their town halls, I would not be surprised if they’re doing everything to make sure a mass missed payment doesn’t occur.
Not for the good of the people, but for the damage that would do to the gop.

Their plan is coming into focus: abolish all phone service at Social Security offices nationwide, close scores of such offices as well, make potential claimants show up in person and prove they qualify for the benefits that they have earned. This is stupid and cruel, as the people who qualify for these benefits are the least likely to be able to make long treks and wait for extended periods.

When I and my husband filed we did it entirely on line. It was efficient and convenient. But because they ultimately don’t want to pay people the benefits they have earned, they think that making it inconvenient and inaccessible will mean that some people will be unable to collect.

andthey can use the fake excuse musk found fraud.

Rural Americans are gonna get shafted too. Why do they keep voting for people that intend great harm to them? Don't tell us we forget about them with dems fighting for funds to keep their hospitals and clinics open when market forces dictate they wouldn't be served for their price. And snail mail is the same way. I simply don't get it. Biden specifically allocated broadband/fiber funds for them. That dang steel factory in vances' home town was saved bc of biden.

It all started with Goldwater’s and Nixon’s Southern Strategy.

And i still get the feeling that rural America still has this animosity to vote for anything coming from the big cities.
And I see it in individual states.
I see how rural Georgia has animosity towards Atlanta.
I even see animosity from the rest of Louisiana to New Orleans.
That just creates a environment to vote against your best interests just because.

MT15 gets it.. the rest of you who think it won’t happen , y’all have lost the plot .

This is EXACTLY what roughly half of American voters voted for.. they wanted to ‘blow the whole thing up’ and ‘burn it down’.. and that’s exactly what they’re getting.. of course they won’t be happy when it bites them in the a**, but it’ll be too late .. the horror show’s about to become really real.. save this post, if late summer/Fall rolls around and there hasn’t been a massive amount of people missing SS and disability payments, ill eat my words .

People 100% didn't vote for cutting medicaid, and SSN. This is going to hurt MAGA.

In fact, we have a bunch of older conservatives on this board. They don't show up in this thread. I wonder why?

Re-read my post J donk.. nowhere did I say they voted for cutting SS or Medicaid.. I said they voted to break the system , aka they f***ed around , and now they’re gonna find out…. And the way our system of govt is set up, the rest of us who didn’t vote for it are gonna be drug down with them bc their isn’t a damn thing we can do.. “Take to the streets” , what a laugh.. that does NOTHING.. this is exactly why some of us were telling anyone who would listen BEFORE the election not to re-elect this maniac bc we knew after the fact it would be all over .. sorry to sound defeatist, but please tell me what any of us can do of real consequence, and please be specific .

Having worked for a benefits paying agency this is probably accurate, it's what we used to call the auto-roll.....BUT, depending on the reliability (bugs, unintended consequences with changes, etc) cutting much of the support staff could still have dire consequences.....

I had already made my decision to collect SS at 62 (in just over a year from now) because it takes you until the late 70's to make up the 3 years if you wait until 65....but I'm not totally convinced that it will still be around in it's same form in the near future.....
I'll be 63 next week. I'll start collecting then. My dad retired at 62 and showed me the same info you posted. If he had waited to
65 he'd would have had to collect to age 77 to make up the difference. He passed at 77. It worked perfectly for him
