Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights per draft opinion (Update: Dobbs opinion official) (2 Viewers)

Not long ago Kari Lake proclaimed Arizona's abortion law was a great law and wanted it the law of the state.

Now that she has gotten her way, she is lobbying for it to be repealed.

As I have been saying since 2022, the overwhelming vast majority of women aren't going to vote for the man who proudly boasts that he got rid of Roe V. Wade. Nor are those women going to vote for a forced birther politician.

Turns out, republican belief in "pro life" was all just lies to get votes. Who is surprised? I sure am not.

How many forced birthers will do the same about face?

Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake is actively lobbying state lawmakers to overturn a 160-year-old law she once supported that bans abortion in almost all cases, a source with knowledge of her efforts told CNN.

I don't agree with her opinion on the election, but her talking to people about the election being stolen or that there was fraud isn't planning to overthrow the election.

So when she said, "Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!! … You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History," she was just talking about the election being stolen and not advocating the overturning of a free and fair election. Gotcha.

Clarence and Ginni Thomas were ultimately untouchable for the Jan. 6 investigators for the same reason they are untouchable for purposes of Supreme Court ethics reform: When you’re a justice, they let you do it. And when you are delivering long-sought victories, even ethical Never Trumpers like Liz Cheney will let you do whatever it takes to deliver the goods.

That sounds like they were looking for a reason and they couldn't come up with anything so they went with that.

This sounds an awful lot like the excuses for why Mueller didn't nail Trump. I guess they have to come up with excuses for their readers when what they have been claiming for months or years didn't come to fruition.

OMG, she said for the President to stand firm! Lock her up! 🙄

What would you call her trying to influence state legislators to go along with the fake electors? She wrote letters to various state legislators encouraging them to participate. That’s not participating in the plans to overthrow the election?

Except there was an attempted insurrection, so it did come to fruition. Ginni and Clarance almost got what they were hoping for.

Back to the actual topic. I would love for our resident anti-abortionists to actually read this twitter thread and then respond. It’s long but worth it.

    @Farb

So you think the 14th Amendment was a revenge tactic?

That is a bold, albeit ridiculous, stand. Well done!
    Thanks!
But no, the 14th is not revenge, but the creation of 'protected' classes has created that, I don't think intentionally, but created none the less.

No, I'm not going to show you. You can take my word for it or google it.

If protected status is removed from any particular group, what exactly is it that you gain? What would you be able to do against those people that you aren't able to do right now?

    Whatever that means ...
Cool, so again, no one can or will be fired for being gay. That is a strawman much like voter ID laws to the left.

Nothing, that is exactly the point. They are not needed and only cause a division. Now you and I know that is exactly the point (since protected classes tend to go along party ideological lines) but you probably won't admit that will you?

Inclusion and tolerance for only those that the left agrees with. Otherwise, there will be no toleration of intolerance! LOL

Every state that is a “right to work” state. Employers don’t have to state their reason, they don’t even have to acknowledge they have a reason to fire someone. I don’t think you’re stupid enough to not know how this is gamed in the real world.

You keep twisting words around - protected classes don’t elevate people - they try to give them a level playing field in a world that holds them down.

Housing is still being gamed in the real world. Even though it’s against the law. We see stories every few months about it. Nothing ever happens to the people who are discriminatory though because the laws have no teeth and are difficult to enforce.

You know all this. You just don’t want to admit it because it makes you look bad. It’s like saying that speeding doesn’t exist because there are laws against it everywhere. You’re not this stupid.
You don't think a company firing someone for being gay (and that is the only reason, not the reason that the person cries about on social media) would not cause damage to their business once that got out? It would because most American's would not tolerate that. That is the real world, not the world where the left sees anyone that disagrees with them as a terrorist, racist, bigot, white supremacist, no good, very bad person. Only the fictional world created by those that want your vote would think that would happen in the real world. And say it did, another business would open up that would cater to all and put that other out of business. That is how the free market works but the left must compel its citizens to act and say as they think is best and we all know the bang up job our politicians do and the moral code they follow.
    Obviously I am that stupid.

So you mean the fictional world of pre-2015 where this happened all the time?

But no, the 14th is not revenge, but the creation of 'protected' classes has created that,
Either you are piss poor at correct sentence structure or you are stating here that it's your belief that protected classes create a revenge situation. That kind of brings to mind that quote that says "when you are used to privilege, equality feels like oppression". Go with being piss poor with your sentence structure because the alternative screams stupidity.
Cool, so again, no one can or will be fired for being gay.
    Absolutely false.
That is the real world, not the world where the left sees anyone that disagrees with them as a terrorist, racist, bigot, white supremacist, no good, very bad person.
The "left" doesn't agree with the left on all things. Normal people see people who commit terroristic acts like attempting to destroy the capital as terrorists. They see people who do and say racist things as racists and bigots. They see people who espouse white supremacy ideology as white supremacists. All of those people are very bad people. It is only Republicans who cuddle up to and share beliefs with domestic terrorist, racists, bigots and white supremacists. You need look no further than your orange criminal hero and traitor.
That is how the free market works but the left must compel its citizens to act and say as they think is best and we all know the bang up job our politicians do and the moral code they follow.
That moral code you speak of is completely lost on Republicans. They are the ones lying, stealing and cheating. They are the ones you catch in bathrooms offering blowjobs to strangers. They are the ones actually trying to steal elections.
    Obviously I am that stupid.
Yes, we know. It's been covered over and over again.

So that cake shop in Colorado went out of business? Lol.

Fresh off winning their decades-long battle to overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion-rights opponents are pinpointing their next targets: the nation's biggest pharmacy chains.

Anti-abortion advocates are organizing pickets outside CVS and Walgreens in early February in at least eight cities, including Washington, D.C., in response to the companies’ plans to take advantage of the Food and Drug Administration’s decision last week allowing retail pharmacies to stock and dispense abortion pills in states where they’re legal.

The demonstrations aim to bring the same chants, signs and tense confrontations to drug store parking lots that groups have long used to try to deter visits to abortion clinics. The protests will coincide with a call-in campaign and planned national boycott of the chains.

“We want people to be uncomfortable going into a CVS that has a demonstration going on and to consider going to a different pharmacy,” said Caroline Smith, a leader of the group Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising. “We also want to put enough pressure on the companies to retract this decision and not get certified to sell abortion pills.”

A Walgreens spokesperson declined to comment on the protests. CVS did not respond to a request for comment.

The anti-abortion movement is zeroing in on pharmacies as the pills have become the most popular method for terminating a pregnancy in the U.S. and a key way people are accessing abortion in states where it's banned.

The upcoming protests are just one piece of a broader strategy that, if successful, could further fray the national patchwork of access to abortion.

As legislatures reconvene this month — many for the first time since Roe v. Wade was overturned — Missouri and Kansas are among several states weighing bans on mail delivery and pharmacy dispensing of mifepristone, the first of two pills used to terminate a pregnancy.

Members of the new House Republican majority will also put forward a bill on Wednesday, first shared with POLITICO, that would expand the rights of pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for the drug.

And conservative advocates are threatening legal action against pharmacies that opt to dispense the pill as other pending lawsuits seek to ban their use nationwide.

“If Walgreens wants to learn anything from more than 50 years of our abortion activism, it’s that we will not give up,” said Kristi Hamrick, the vice president of policy for Students for Life of America. “They should be concerned about the kind of liability they will face.”

These conservative plans threaten to curtail what progressives call an already limited effort to expand access to abortion — and discourage patients from seeking the pills even if pharmacies opt to provide them............

The Department of Justice said last week that the Postal Service is cleared to keep delivering abortion pills across the U.S., even to states that have banned abortion. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R), a rabid opponent of bodily autonomy, is unsurprisingly unhappy about the news, and on Tuesday told AL.com that women and pregnant people who use abortion pills in the state could be prosecuted. This guy is an embarrassment to the state.
