Special Counsel January 6 conspiracy case against Trump in DC (Update: Trial set for March 4, 2024) (1 Viewer)

Why didn't he indict Trump for incitement of the insurrection? I can't wait for the excuses for this especially considering how often the media, democrats, and many here talked about insurrection over and over and over.
What we know he did and what he can be successfully convicted of may be two separate things.

    See Capone, Al.

"gratuitous, out-of-court statement to media regarding allegations in this case," which they actually include a link to.

Here is the entirety of the statement that is "regarding allegations in this case":
(every direct reference to this particular case is underlined)

"Today, an indictment was unsealed charging Donald J. Trump with conspiring to defraud the United States, conspiring to disenfranchise voters, and conspiring and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding. The indictment was issued by a grand jury of citizens here in the District of Columbia and sets forth the crimes charged in detail. I encourage everyone to read it in full."

--Paragraph about attack on the Capitol on Jan 6, which includes "...it was fueled by lies. Lies by the defendant targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the U.S. government, the nation’s process of collecting, counting, and certifying the results of the presidential election."

--Paragraph about the men and women of law enforcement, no mention of this case.

--Paragraph about ensuring accountability for those criminally responsible for actions that date. "This case is brought consistent with that commitment,"

--Paragraph stating they will seek a speedy trial so that the evidence can be tested in court, and that this is only an allegation and the defendant must be presumed innocent.

--Paragraph thanking the members of the FBI who have worked on this investigation.

Wow. She may have disclosed bedminster investigations.

As a follow-up to both this and the Legal Eagle video you posted, he has another one up discussing the superseding indictment and it mentions Walt Nauta unexpectedly going to Bedminster more than once as well as Trump waving around the classified document. He makes a comment to the effect of "I don't know why they never issued a search warrant Bedminster, unless it's not public."

this was already mentioned in the previous page, but I don't know enough to know what this is all about

I just saw this and it may explain further. And he is stating the documents are related to investigations in DC (edit: grand jury testimonies in DC to more specific), not Bedminster. Cannon's ruling is related to a Garcia hearing related to the documents.

A Garcia hearing is a legal proceeding that ensures a defendant, who is one of two or more defendants represented by the same attorney, understands the risk of a conflict of interest.

I never knew this facet of the scheme. Grassley stating on Jan. 5 that he and not Pence was expected to be presiding over the counting of Electoral votes suggests he knew about this part of the conspiracy and was on board with it. Same for Cruz pressing for a 10-day pause in the counting of the votes on Jan. 6. At a minimum these two guys need to be investigated for their part in this conspiracy.

And Ron Johnson, who was involved with fake electors in Wisconsin.

Teri Kanefield is a really good legal analyst. Here is part of her write up on the Trump social media bleats. Link follows quote:

“I spent all of 2021 and 2022 wearing myself out writing FAQs to persuade people that Merrick Garland was serious and the DOJ was in fact working (and working smart).
People. I cannot spend all my time talking you all of the ledge. I have writing deadlines. Stay off the ledges.
Stop Following the TV Lawyers or Media Accounts that Are Keeping You Enraged

I know it’s addicting. I know they are entertaining. I know they are clever with their one-liners. (That is why they are asked to be on TV.)

If you spent the weekend enraged that the DOJ wasn’t immediately moving to throw Trump in prison for his social media posts, I suggest that you are being manipulated by both sides. Trump has baited you into the fight he wants and the rage-inducers took advantage of the situation to rile you and get “clicks” and “likes.””

In my defense, my list of tv/social lawyers are a bit short without twitter. Post.news is unfortunately relatively inactive w George Conway as the most active. Meidas has recently been more active. Ari Melbur occasionally along with his guests like Andrew Weismann, etc, usually ex doj types like is my other main source. Oh legal eagle. And of course whatever is posted here.

And I think she’s mis-characterizing objections from folks like myself. I advocated that he should be in custody IF he indeed tampered with witnesses, including intimidation or prejudicing. What I don’t care for is the thought process that we let him slide if he broke the law for expedience or convenience.

Consider this. He is being charged for various conspiracies, not free speech. If we are to let him slide with tampering as free speech or because of expediency, then ergo why not for these conspiracies. If he committed crimes, he should be held in front of the law. He has gotten away with way to much because he exploits these thinking.

Edit: and I get that the question of whether he is tampering is in question...a hearing on that matter is exactly what I think should happen first.
