As Donald Trump aggressively fights multiple legal and political threats, New York congresswoman Elise Stefanik has become his most powerful ally in Congress in key ways by echoing Trump’s dangerous falsehoods and pushing outlandish conspiracy theories around the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

To bolster Trump, Stefanik has mimicked Trump’s calling convicted January 6 prisoners “hostages”, declined in a TV interview to say she would certify the 2024 election in advance, and filed ethics complaints against two judges overseeing cases against Trump or his allies.

Stefanik’s emergence as a major Trump cheerleader has sparked sharp criticism from historians, ex-Republican members and Democrats for fueling election denialism and disinformation which weaken democracy. But it has earned Stefanik a notable distinction: her name is frequently mentioned as Trump’s potential 2024 running mate.

“She scares me in several ways,” said Harvard government professor Steven Levitsky, the co-author of How Democracies Die. “Stefanik appears to be willing to go down Trump’s authoritarian path wholeheartedly.”………

Once again, this is just so funny and sad that people actually think it at the same time.

This is getting out of hand... Fox news and all the right wing media is jumping all over this.. Its like they are scared to death of someone they hate endorsing someone else they hate..lol
If the Chiefs win and Mahommes or Kelce say they are going to Disney Land, the RWNJs will go crazy saying they are WOKE!!!!! lol

As soon as the Kansas City Chiefs, D-Taylor Swift, beat the Baltimore Ravens to advance to the Super Bowl, right-wing thought leaders flooded social media announcing the NFL is rigged and in the bag for Democrats.

Laura Loomer, a MAGA loyalist whom Donald Trump just last year called “terrific,” posted on what used to be Twitter: “The Democrats’ Taylor Swift election interference psyop is happening in the open… It’s not a coincidence that current and former Biden admin officials are propping up Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. They are going to use Taylor Swift as the poster child for their pro-abortion GOTV Campaign.”

Vivek Ramaswamy, former GOP presidential candidate and possible Trump VP pick, wrote: “I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.”

Trump supporter Mike Crispi wrote, “The NFL is totally RIGGED for the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor Swift, Mr. Pfizer (Travis Kelce). All to spread DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA. Calling it now: KC wins, goes to Super Bowl, Swift comes out at the halftime show and ‘endorses' Joe Biden with Kelce at midfield. It's all been an op since day one.”

As a liberal in good standing, all I can say is: Dammit, how did they figure it out?

I guess some of it was obvious. Pop superstar Swift has encouraged young people to register to vote and get involved in the electoral process, while her Chiefs tight-end boyfriend Travis Kelce has encouraged people to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from a deadly and wildly contagious virus. Those are pretty liberal things to do.

But I didn’t think right-wing sleuths would connect the dots this quickly.

Oh well. The vaccinated cat is out of the reusable shopping bag, so I might as well let everyone in on the entire plan.

Yes, the Swift/Kelce relationship was cooked up by a panel of high-ranking Democratic activists as a psychological operation intended to bolster support for liberal causes and the reelection of President Joe Biden.

We first thought using Kelce – from a Midwestern team that, thanks to its Native American cultural appropriation, isn’t viewed as “woke” – would provide cover. But then we decided having him do an ad for Pfizer encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine made more sense.

After all, the more shots we got in people’s arms, the more implanted microchips we would have to manipulate individual voter behavior. (And yes, we did use a tiny drone to blow out New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles tendon at the beginning of the season. It was necessary to take a prominent anti-vaxxer off the board.)

Next, we made the Chiefs play poorly for a portion of the season, casting doubt that the Super Bowl champions could make it back to the big game.

We played up the Swift/Kelce romance, knowing it would lure legions of impressionable young people to the NFL, which actually stands for “Need to Federalize Liberalism.”..........

After coming under fire for hosting virulent antisemite E. Michael Jones, who claimed “the Jews took over the Blacks early on” and are “running the Biden administration,” TheBlaze’s Jason Whitlock has looked to distance himself from the scandal. Not only has the right-wing sports pundit addressed the controversy on his podcast, but he’s deleted tweets promoting his interview with Jones and taken the entire episode down from YouTube. Far-right commentators, meanwhile, have since mocked Whitlock and suggested that TheBlaze founder Glenn Beck forced the former ESPN personality to publicly apologize.

During a lengthy interview that aired on January 18, Whitlock described Jones as “a celebrated author, a public intellectual, [and] an ardent supporter of the Catholic faith.” Praising Jones’ latest book and noting that they both believe that “sexual lust…has been turned into a tool to control all of us,” Whitlock boasted that the author was “under attack by the Anti-Defamation League” and had been “canceled because of his writings.”

Considering the ADL describes Jones as “an anti-Semitic Catholic writer who promotes the view that Jews are dedicated to propagating and perpetrating attacks on the Catholic Church and moral standards, social stability, and political order throughout the world,” it shouldn’t have been too surprising that Jones would eventually go on an anti-Jewish rant during the interview. Despite Jones’ stunningly bigoted commentary, which appeared to leave Whitlock in shock at times, TheBlaze host repeatedly nodded along with Jones and lauded him for his “fearless” views.

After Jones said Jews are “undermining the moral fabric of the American people,” Whitlock appeared to back his guest’s remarks. “I get it, and I can’t say that I disagree,” he replied. Jones would go on to say that hundreds of Jews were running the government before making even more noxious claims about Jewish people “controlling” the Black community. At the end of the interview, which included on-screen “TRUTH BOMB” graphics, Whitlock gave Jones his seal of approval. “Mr. Jones, you are fearless,” Whitlock declared, adding that any critics should know that “the man is speaking facts, and I know the intent of what he just said, and I got no problem with it.” Whitlock then promoted Jones’ comments about Jews with a series of tweets but took most of the posts down within a day amid growing backlash.

On his follow-up broadcast, Whitlock discussed the controversy with two of his show’s regular contributors, insisting that he wasn’t fully aware of Jones’ notoriety until after the interview. “I should have been better prepared. That's where I blamed myself,” he said. “After the interview, I did start like looking around and seeing like, oh, man, this guy’s got some real controversy to him. I don't regret having him on. I regret not being as prepared as I should have been.”

Calling Jones’ antisemitic ramblings a “distraction,” Whitlock—who had previously defended Ye’s hateful anti-Jewish tirades—said he “fed into it by putting out a clip that I regret putting out” and that was why he deleted the tweets. Additionally, he stated that while the interview would remain up on TheBlaze’s site and conservative-friendly video platform Rumble, he “may decide to take it down off YouTube just because I know how YouTube works.” This past Wednesday, the video had indeed been voluntarily pulled down from YouTube but remained up on the other platforms.

Perhaps because Whitlock was just the latest prominent conservative pundit to go “mask-off” and lean into explicitly antisemitic commentary, far-right extremists were less than happy with his mild denouncement of Jones. Elijah Schaffer, who frequently traffics in antisemitic tropes and was fired from TheBlaze in 2022 over sexual misconduct allegations, described Jones as a “very astute” author while mocking Whitlock alongside ex-Blaze host Jon Miller. Appearing on Shaffer’s podcast, Miller repeatedly compared Whitlock, who is Black, to a slave while speculating that Beck had pressured Whitlock to apologize and delete his social media posts and YouTube video..............

I soooooo hope that the Biden campaign actually do recruit Swift and Kelce to do a SB halftime commercial endorsing him and end it with the Dark Biden logo. Just so that I can watch the collective heads of 40% of the country explode.

It would be like this scene from the Kingsmen movie. :smilielol:

Paid for by E. Jean Carroll!!!

……..In a social media post, a prominent right-wing conspiracy theorist linked Swift to … let’s see here … ah yes, George Soros. In response, Ramaswamy offered a prediction.

“I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month,” he wrote. “And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months.”

The implication (again: forgive my telling you something obvious) is that the Chiefs are being ushered to the Super Bowl … somehow … to secure Swift’s endorsement for President Biden.

This makes a lot of sense because the Chiefs haven’t been to the Super Bowl since, uh, last year, when they won. But before that they hadn’t been since, well, two years before. But that one they lost! But they’d won the year before that.

You can see why they need … someone … to give them a boost. Because otherwise, Taylor Swift wouldn’t endorse Biden, something she hasn’t done since 2020 — the last time Biden ran……

Yeah, it’s just beyond stupid. I was just going to say - she endorsed him before. No shock if she endorses him again.

A proposal from an Arizona lawmaker calls for the state legislature to decide on presidential electors instead of adhering to a popular vote.

The state senator Anthony Kern, a Republican, served as a fake elector in 2020, falsely asserting that Donald Trump won the state. Those involved in the fake electors schemes in several states have been charged. In Arizona, the fake electors are under investigation by the Democratic attorney general, her office has confirmed. Kern also attended the 6 January 2021 rally at the US Capitol.

The senate concurrent resolution says that the “sole authority to appoint presidential electors” should fall to the legislature. It calls on the legislature to stay in session during presidential election years for this purpose. As a concurrent resolution, the proposal does not require the governor’s signature and does not have the force of law; it functions more to state the legislative body’s position on an issue.

Such a change would be a dramatic departure from today’s democratic process, where voters elect a candidate for president and states allocate electors according to whoever won the popular vote in their state as part of the electoral college process.…….

…..Except for one detail: Kelce wasn’t dating Swift last year, or in 2020, but he is now. That simple fact was enough to send right-wingers into a complete meltdown after the Chiefs secured their spot in the Super Bowl on Monday……

This is bad news for the Republican Party. One of the most famous people in the world, whose tastemaking abilities have been proven demonstrably, is only acquiring more influence.

She very well might lend her support to the Democrats during the upcoming presidential election (according to The New York Times, the Biden campaign certainly wouldn’t mind).

Her boyfriend is also a superstar with considerable reach. And he has partnered with Pfizer, urging people on Instagram to get their Covid vaccines and boosters—something a number of Republicans have vocally rejected.

Proving once again that they can be reverse-psychologied into hating anything if a Democrat is even vaguely attached to it, conservatives have now turned their back not just on the Chiefs, not just on the Super Bowl, not just on American football at large, but on the very concept of sports.

On the far-right One America News channel, a chyron deemed the “massive Super Bowl” a “psy-op.” (Counterpoint: The Super Bowl is always massive. It’s the Super Bowl.)

Host Alison Steinberg wondered what the US would look like “if people were as dedicated to Jesus as they are to professional sports.” Children these days, she continued, are made to attend “public indoctrination camps, playing sports for their school, and going to games”, after which they’ll yearn to become professional athletes – a dream that will inevitably get crushed, resulting in their undying support for the lucky few who do make it to the big leagues. And that’s just not Christ-like.

On the equally measured Newsmax, host Greg Kelly compared the admiration Swift’s fans feel toward her to “idolatry”. “Have you seen any of the pictures of her in concert?” Kelly asked, assuring his viewers: “I wouldn’t go myself. I don’t do that kind of thing anymore. But I think what they call it is, they’re elevating her to an idol.”

He went on: “Idolatry. This is a little bit of what idolatry, I think, looks like. And you’re not supposed to do that. In fact, if you look it up in the Bible, it’s a sin!” (Counterpoint: It’s a stadium tour by a singer.)……

The right wing, forever proving how oblivious and hypocritical they are.

Did somebody say "idolatry"? I mean literal idolatry.
