BTW…I joined the board after the debate just to drive-by post and tell all you guys how “forked” you are…😂🤣. However, sifting through some of the ridiculous partisan sniping, there are few good posts and it’s nice to see and understand what’s going on direct from source.
So, we’re forked but you’re not a Trump supporter. You’re more moderate/conservative than liberal.

    I will ask a question.

If you don’t like Trump I can assume you won’t vote for him and certainly won’t vote for Biden. Are you then voting Republican down ticket? If so, you support those who support Trump and the policies put forth both by Trump and groups like the Heritage Foundation.

We’re forked if Trump is elected and the Republican Party is successful at their reactionary policies.

This must have been pretty weird with the Mass Deportation signs and all

    Legal immigrants
So your contention is that there isn’t a pretty hefty portion of MAGA that wants to stop all immigration? Especially from the countries Trump call S-hole countries?

The Republican Party is attracting people who used to be thought of as "a lock" to vote Democratic. Now the legal immigrants and the working class are breaking away from the Party of Joe Biden.
That’s why the TV ratings are down some 30%. Probably.

I guess maybe everyone tuned in to see the VP pick, and his ear.

The Republican National Convention drew an estimated 14.81 million viewers on its second night, a drop from the second night in 2020, according to Nielsen.

One of the highlights of the night was a speech by Lara Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter in law.

About 19.42 million watched the second night of the RNC in 2020, when much of the event was virtual due to the Covid pandemic. The convention drew about 19.76 million in 2016.

    2016 2020 2024
    -----------------------
    19.76>19.42>14.81

    I imagine so.

That would not be surprising in the least. 2020 was a virtual convention due to Covid. Viewership was down, way down, and the reasonable folks comparing this are excluding the 2020 year because it's an apple to pears comparison insofar as being any reasonable part of a trend.

    Pandemics are not fair!

First post. You seem scared like he is going to do something to you if elected. Who is the we’re in your claim that we’re forked?

I mean. Is more people really the answer to our problems? Especially those that probably hate us natural born citizens. We don’t necessarily have a society of gratitude.

Thankfully, after turning in my US passport and renouncing citizenship, I don't have to vote for either of the two idiots running for President. However, if I still had the right to vote, I would vote for Republicans or moderate Democrats down ticket. If I weigh my personal beliefs against the two party platforms and weigh the importance of each of those beliefs, the scale would tend to favor the Republican platform.

The current state of both parties and how they are manipulated and/or controlled by the extreme right wing and left wing constituents, screams out for a viable, moderate third party. Unless one of the parties can find and advance a visionary, inspiring leader that can speak to moderates on both sides of the divide, increased partisanship and the continued devolution of American politics is ensured.

Even though on a much smaller scale, the New Zealand political system makes it much easier to find a party that matches your beliefs. We have the two moderate parties (Labour and National, left wing and right wing, respectively), two more extreme parties (Greens and NZ First), plus a libertarian-based party (ACT) and the indigenous peoples party (Te Pati Maori). This creates a system where parties have to form coalitions to govern and it mitigates any extreme views or policies.
