There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

SFL - how is it censorship to expose his writings?

Do you agree with his idea that the “jews” are to blame for “white genocide”? Do you think “white genocide” is being practiced in the US?

Quit spouting propaganda. You are the one who seems to have been radicalized. “Censorship” is the new buzz word for radicals.

Answer this: How is it censorship to expose his writings?

It not censorship. I said the censorship regime is worried about Benz revealing their censorship scheme so they put the NBC censorship goons to put a hit piece out on him. The hit piece was a joke. Benz is Jewish but he's a while nationalist? Lol Time to come up with a new playbook. Accusing everyone they don't like of racism or supporting Russia doesn't convince anyone with a brain.

How would you describe the beliefs he is espousing? You didn’t answer my questions about his beliefs. Do you believe the “jews” are responsible for the “white genocide”? Do you think “white genocide” is being attempted in the US?

You know, it’s not censorship to call out views such as his for what they are. It is precisely because we have free speech that it’s more important than anywhere else to point out these ancient, vile views and call them what they are. It’s outright anti-Semitism, and the fact that he is Jewish doesn’t give him a pass.

Defending anti-Semitism is disgusting. Calling the normal revulsion for these views censorship is doing exactly that. He is a disgusting man. He should be reviled and his views should be exposed.

The most disappointing person in the Republican caucus. I wonder what those in her district think of her.

I live in her district (SC-1). The whole district itself is controversial - because basically there has been substantial migration to the Charleston area over the past 20 years, with strong acceleration in the last 10 years. The demographics of this migration are largely educated families from urban areas (often northern urban areas) seeking improved quality of life and a migration of younger skilled workers for the area's skilled manufacturing - the largest of which is the Boeing plant where 787s are built.

These voters skew Democrat and joining with the more traditional lines of Democrat voters in the area (African Americans, liberal urban whites, and those associated with the universities in Charleston), were able to elect the first Democrat to the the House for SC-1 in more than 30 years, Joe Cunningham.

Of course, the Republicans in Columbia quickly re-drew the district and Mace won in 2020 by 14 points. That re-drawing of the district, which ran right through (cutting in half) a large area of African-American voters was found unconstitutional by a three-judge panel in federal court. https://www.counton2.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2023/01/jan-6.pdf . The district map is now up at the SCOTUS, which will hear oral argument on it this week coincidentally.

I think the red parts of the district, which include a long run of coastal rural communities between Charleston and Hilton Head, are probably quite happy with her. I think those demographics are deep red, MAGA. I think for many of the rest of us, we hoped she would live up to what she ran on - which was an independent-minded rep who certainly leans conservative but would apply a pragmatic, intelligent approach. Though she voted against impeaching Trump for J6 (on what she presented as procedural grounds), her statements and positions seemed to signal moving on from Trump and aligning with some of GOP members who supported impeachment.

But since then it's been pretty noticeable shift right. She's been voting with the far right wing of the party. She claims to support abortion policy that doesn't "punish women" but she's clearly referring to rhetoric and criminal charges only - she doesn't have any sort of allowance in her position for the fact that highly-restrictive abortion policies harm women in various ways. When pressed, she falls back to absurd arguments about 'late-term abortion'.

For the district, she voted to shut the government down which is disappointing given that her district has substantial federal activity - one of the higher districts in the nation in terms of percentage of federal activity and employees. She voted against the infrastructure program despite some very significant funding for expanding Charleston's port, which has become one of the deepest and most advanced on the east coast. I'd like to see someone run an ad and billboard campaign simply highlighting all of the times she has taken a position that is harmful to the immediate interests of her district.

I'm not sure how the gerrymander case will go at this SCOTUS. And I think her challenger for 2024 seems fairly weak, like her 2022 challenger was. If the district map remains unchanged, I think it's hers as long as she wants it - or whatever other MAGA they want to run.

So what is it going to take to get you to throw your hat in the ring and save America?

    Not kidding.

Reading this again (glutton for punishment, I know) - and I am amazed by the level of conspiracy that SFL just casually offers. So the “censorship regime” (LOL-wut?) is worried that a low level former Trump official and right wing nut job (Benz) is revealing (lol) their grand scheme so they order “NBC censorship goons” (otherwise known as reporters, lol) to put out a hit piece.

What is absent is actual refuting of anything in the “hit piece”. Can it actually be a hit piece if everything they say is true? What is also absent is an explanation of why Benz would be publishing boilerplate anti-semitism from an anonymous social media account. This doesn’t phase SFL. Nope.

But he believes that some sort of “censorship regime” exists and that they control NBC or individual reporters or maybe they control all news media? So in order to censor him, they expose his writings for everyone to see? Writings that he made anonymously, so nobody would know it was his work?

That‘s some 4-D level censorship right there!

Lol, well, at least there's someone in there asking the tough questions. Jordan would be a horrific Speaker and the Republican Party would be finished. Anyone remotely moderate would drop them in a heartbeat.
Yeah, but how bad is it that neither of them could even admit in a private meeting that Trump lost? Neither one should ever be close to the Speaker’s gavel. Neither one should even be in Congress, to be honest.
