Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

It's crazy, like, he could just say, "Yeah, it's the symbols not the letters, but everyone knows what they mean, that's what the letters are showing," and that'd do the job.

I mean, it's even plausible someone added the letters originally not to pretend they're physically there but just to 'interpret' the symbols, and then other people subsequently presented it as real. If he just said "it's the symbols, and they mean MS-13," his usual crowd would suck it up and a bunch of the media would do their usual fence-sitting thing where they argue about whether the symbols mean that or not and fail to challenge the underlying premise of "using tattoos to deport people to gulags" entirely. As intended.

But he just has to tell these stupid, stupid, lies.

Sad thing is, the usual crowd and too many of the media still do exactly the wrong thing regardless.
Yeah, I think the letters and numbers weren’t meant to be taken as literally tattooed on his hand, they were meant to illustrate their theory that these particular tattoos are related to that gang. It’s absolutely insane that he cannot understand that, that he thinks that was really part of his tattooed hand.

He’s mentally incompetent, clearly. This is far worse than any misstep from Biden’s term.

And even if he were part of a gang, that is no crime. He still had his constitutional rights violated and his protective order violated. I don’t think it’s clear those tattoos do signify that gang, and even if they do as I said - that’s no crime. They could mean he was a member and left the gang which is why he was being targeted by them in El Salvador and was successful in getting that protection against being sent back there.

What even the fork is this? SAS asks him about his attack on Harvard University the concept of academic freedom . . . and senile Trump starts talking about Harlem and the black vote.

I didn’t realize if you owe a huge fee due to a fraud conviction, a pardon lets you keep the money. Trump has been pardoning people who owed over a billion dollars for their convictions, wiping out that debt.

This is the majority of that billion dollars right here. He pardoned a person who gave him over a million dollars for his campaign. There’s also a tie in with the AG. Corruption on steroids.

But I definitely want to hear more about the “Biden crime family”. Moronic belief in disinformation.

Is there a list somewhere detailing those numbers? Your assertion as to over a trillion is hard to believe at face value.

I don't know why I clicked on this post as if it might have had something worth reading in it, but come on. That's your takeaway? What is wrong with you?

It's clearly a typo, Joe. It says right after it "this is the majority of that billion dollars".

And here's an article about that guy noting that the pardon "could wipe out hundreds of millions of dollars in restitution that prosecutors were seeking for defrauded investors."

Pardoning fraudsters who make donations is clearly bad practice. That's obviously the point here. But you're all, "Oooh, I saw the word 'trillion' and didn't bother reading further! I'll post about that!" Good. Grief.

I’m an accountant. I’m always concerned with amounts. So if there is a discrepancy I ask instead of making assumptions. If that somehow bothers you then that is your problem not mine. I just asked a simple question.

Are you the net nanny around here?

LOL we are just several days past this administrations 100 day mark, and out goes Mike Waltz

Only the best people. LOL

You could have watched the video clip and had it cleared up for you. Any comment as to the issue at hand, which is that guy who was on the hook for over half a billion dollars in restitution to the investors he swindled received a pardon, wiping out that debt, after donating 1.8 million dollars to Trump's campaign and hiring AG Pam Bondi's brother as his lawyer?

Depending upon where I am, my ability to follow certain links is blocked.

I believe I have said before that pardon and parole has been abused in the last administration and in this administration.

I have also stated more than once we need to have a single set of ethical standards for federal officials both elected and appointed. It is important to avoid all actual conflicts of interest but also there is a duty to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. It erodes confidence in our legal system and our government institutions.

If we want to stop corruption in the public square, IMO that is where we start. It should be pursued and enforced vigorously without fear or favor. Will it happen? Confidence is low.

He clearly wasn't asking about a discrepancy between trillion and billion and obviously hadn't even noticed that it also referred to billion, or followed the link.

Because if someone is asking if someone else meant "trillion" or "billion" when they've said both, they'd start by typing, "Hey, did you mean trillion or billion," and then, if they had a brain, they'd also think, "Wait, it's obviously going to be billion, this is a stupid question," and stop right there without even needing to click on the link.

What they wouldn't do is put on their snide hat and type, "Your assertion as to over a trillion is hard to believe at face value." because that completely ignores the statement of it being "that billion dollars" and hence makes no sense in terms of asking about a discrepancy they definitely noticed. No, that's what they'd do if they'd reached the word, "trillion", thought, "Ha ha, that's ludicrous! Gotcha!" and not bothered to read the rest, look at the clip, or even engage their brain in their haste to get their failed attempt at a gotcha in.

As for then blatantly lying about it and, when pressed on the actual issue of giving pardons to fraudsters after receiving large donations, doing the usual, "actually, both sides! I'm very reasonable, me," garbage, no.

I have little patience for that kind of schtick at the best of times, but when it's repeatedly employed in service of defending and detracting attention from the increasingly authoritarian, corrupt, and outright fascist actions of a indefensible administration, just, no.

If it’s a typo, you can answer the question with one or two sentences. Or if you are just a whiner, you can write several paragraphs and accomplish nothing.
