Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

If it’s a typo, you can answer the question with one or two sentences. Or if you are just a whiner, you can write several paragraphs and accomplish nothing.

Maybe you should just adress the issue he mention (Buying pardons) instead of gaslighting once again ? And calling you out when you gaslight is not whining. It is calling you out for once again trying to derail a discussion on an important issue.

I did respond to that. Maybe you missed it.

I don't know why I clicked on this post as if it might have had something worth reading in it, but come on. That's your takeaway? What is wrong with you?

It's clearly a typo, Joe. It says right after it "this is the majority of that billion dollars".

And here's an article about that guy noting that the pardon "could wipe out hundreds of millions of dollars in restitution that prosecutors were seeking for defrauded investors."

Pardoning fraudsters who make donations is clearly bad practice. That's obviously the point here. But you're all, "Oooh, I saw the word 'trillion' and didn't bother reading further! I'll post about that!" Good. Grief.
Thanks, I hadn’t noticed that typo. Good to know that my blocking of Joe is justified still, lol.

How were pardons abused by the previous administration and how does that compare to people blatantly buying pardons from Trump?
If you don't mind my saying, the problem with this phrasing is that it invites someone like Joe to regurgitate garbage he's swallowed about Biden's pardons, while completely ignoring the latter and pertinent part of the question. Which then risks derailing the topic again with people pointing out its garbage and Joe going, "both sides both sides both sides" for several pages.

I'd go with just stating the fact: "Fraudsters blatantly buying pardons from Trump is incomparable with anything from previous administrations." We all know Joe doesn't have anything to actually refute that. Is there any point inviting him to try?

I dunno pardoning people who haven’t been charged with a crime is certainly out of the norm. I can’t say a blame a father for pardoning his son but it certainly is a conflict of interest. Releasing millions of undocumented migrants into this country on “parole” was probably not the intent of the law as written.

That said. These abuses are a symptom of a problem. Namely conflicts of interest. Corruption in government. So do you want to focus on the symptoms or would you like to solve the problem?

It's almost like you're psychic, Rob.

President Donald Trump used the National Day of Prayer to attack Joe Biden, perpetuate election lies and brag about his administration’s first 100 days in office.

“We're bringing back religion in our country and we're bringing it back quickly and strongly,” the president said in a rambling speech in the Rose Garden on Thursday afternoon.

Minutes into his speech, Trump mentioned his faith advisers’ work in the White House. “No other president allowed that. They said, 'separation between church and state.' I said, ‘Alright, let's forget about that for one time.’”

In fact, his address Thursday marked a second time.

While hosting the National Day of Prayer, the president, for the most part, breezed past faith and instead bashed Democrats, praised his administration’s efforts, and repeated his 2020 “rigged election” claims………

The British government’s attempts to curry favor with Donald Trump by nudging golf executives to host one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments at a Scottish venue owned by the US president could ultimately lead to a violation of the US constitution, ethics experts have warned.

The Guardian reported this week that officials in the government of the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, have asked senior executives at the R&A, which organizes the Open championship, whether they would host the golf championship at the Turnberry golf resort in 2028.

Trump, sources have told the Guardian, has raised the issue “multiple times” with Starmer. One person with knowledge of the British government’s moves said in connection to the championship that the UK was “doing everything it can to get close to Trump”.

But US ethics experts say any decision by the R&A to choose Turnberry as its 2028 venue may break the spirit, if not the letter, of the US constitution’s emoluments clause, which prohibits federal officials from accepting benefits from foreign or state governments without congressional approval.……

yep
well we have seen the quality of the idiot he put in charge, trying to claim this is a good thing is a huge joke. also requiring people to report so-called anti-Christian behavior, so much not Christian.

The White House has launched a Drudge Report-like political website collecting pro-Trump news stories, the administration’s latest attempt to sidestep critical mainstream media coverage.

The site, White House Wire, features familiar Drudge-style all-caps headlines and upbeat stories about the administration from outlets including Fox News and The Daily Caller, as well as the administration’s own X posts.

"It's a place for supporters of the president's agenda to get the real news all in one place in a shareable and readable format," an administration official told Axios.

"The website will be a one-stop shop for news and is part of the Trump administration's effort to provide transparency and institute policies that put America first," they added……..

WASHINGTON (AP) — Detailed Army plans for a potential military parade on President Donald Trump’s birthday in June call for more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands and possibly a couple thousand civilians, The Associated Press has learned.

The planning documents, obtained by the AP, are dated April 29 and 30 and have not been publicly released. They represent the Army’s most recent blueprint for its long-planned 250th anniversary festival on the National Mall and the newly added element — a large military parade that Trump has long wanted but is still being discussed.

The Army anniversary just happens to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday on June 14.

While the slides do not include any price estimates, it would likely cost tens of millions of dollars to put on a parade of that size. Costs would include the movement of military vehicles, equipment, aircraft and troops from across the country to Washington and the need to feed and house thousands of service members.……

I thought this when I saw the clip of old senile Trump insisting those superimposed letters and numbers were real. Don’t. Move. On.

TFG..."our friends". The Russians.

(And it's May 9 not 8)

Actually, in Europe the Soviets did much more. Roosevelt needed the Soviets to do the bleeding and bleed they did. I recalling reading somewhere that the Soviets had more casualties in one week than the U.S. did in the entire Pacific theatre.
