Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

Hogan is a massive disappointment as a human being….just another party before country zealot……

Despite an effort to overthrow an election and a bevy of criminal charges, Donald Trump has managed to solidify and even expand his support among core demographics.

It remains the eternal Trump question: Who are his supporters and why are they so devoted to him?

The voters most loyal to the former president are White evangelicals. More than 80 percent backed him in the 2020 elections.

And this has long presented a puzzle: How can people who prize moral rectitude and personal witness to Jesus so faithfully support the most secular president in American history, someone who seems by his behavior at best indifferent to Christianity?

Part of the answer is that Trump has been able to change the meaning of “evangelical.”

    This is no small feat.

It is easy to forget it now, but evangelicals initially were skeptical of Trump. During the 2016 Republican primaries, Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) was the preferred choice of churchgoing evangelicals, while Trump’s strongest support came from evangelicals with lower levels of church attendance.

During the primary campaign, when one influential Christian magazine surveyed 100 evangelical leaders, not a single one said they planned to vote for Trump…….

After evangelicals embraced Trump, something odd happened. As other Christian denominations hemorrhaged members, evangelicals saw their ranks grow; from 2016 to 2020, their share of the White adult population increased to 29 percent, from 25 percent, according to the Pew Research Center.

The catch was many of these new evangelicals didn’t go to church.

They became evangelicals because of what it meant politically, most of all because it was a way to signal support for Donald Trump. Among White Trump supporters who were not evangelicals in 2016, 16 percent began to identify as evangelical by 2020, suggesting again that politics rather than religion was the driving factor…..

Not only that they drink way too much beer.

I have a suggestion, I suggest that polling houses are not that expensive due to the dismal response the pollsters are getting on the phone. Too many folks hang up on them when they call, and that completely undermines the random sample method polls use.

As it stands now polls are guesses. So who owns the polling outfits who are still in business. At least half of the old polling outfits are gone.

New ones have popped up saying they have it figured out using the Internet. I don't buy that, and I used to use and trust in polls.
Not since 2012 have the polls been worth a damn. And even in 2012 the early polls were not worth reading, only the polls taken during the last month that year were useable.

So my suggestion is that the convicted criminal likes polls which show him winning, hates the polls when they show Biden winning. That just about rules out the possibility that the criminal didn't buy his own polling outfits, or found a way to influence enough of the polls, and those which have been purchased and /or are influences are affecting the polling averages such that they show trump a tiny bit ahead.

I suggest the polling situation this year is a fake.

I also suggest that the media is hyping the possibility that the election is neck to neck because that is how one sells newspapers and funds TV shows. There is big money in a horse race, a blowout which is not even close would bankrupt quite a few of the media outlets. They must have a neck to neck horse race even if they have to fake it.

    Or help create it.

I suspect there's a reason we're not hearing as much as we should about how batcrap insane Trump is and how deeply his faculties have degraded. Has he given a coherent speech in the last three or four months?

Biden sneezes and it's "Is he too frail to handle the pressures of the Presidency!?!"
Trump goes on a wild-eyed rant about sharks and batteries and...crickets. Nobody says the obvious, that he's losing his mind.

Hopefully the debate has state of the union Joe and shark attack Don on full display for all to see (and judge)

Last month, former president and convicted felon Donald Trump announced that his campaign would accept donations in cryptocurrency. In the weeks that followed, the cybercrime detection firm Netcraft found dozens of scam websites seeking to target Trump supporters and swindle them out of their crypto, according to a report shared exclusively with WIRED.

Netcraft found that in the days leading up to the announcement, scammers registered domains with common misspellings, hoping to capture supporters intending to access donaldjtrump.com. One domain registered to donalbjtrump.com was a near perfect replica of the actual Trump campaign website. And while the Trump campaign accepts donations via Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange, some of the scam websites instead appear to be using portals meant to look like Coingate, a blockchain and crypto payment processor.

“As a victim, the fact that the real campaign is using Coinbase payments rather than direct cryptocurrencies” wouldn’t be very obvious, says Rob Duncan, head of research at Netcraft. “The way it's been advertised is ‘Donald Trump's taking cryptocurrency donations,’ when actually that's quite it's a bit more subtle.”

A second surge of fake websites appeared immediately after Trump’s May 30 felony conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records to pay off the porn star Stormy Daniels. In the hours after his conviction, the campaign raised more than $34 million in donations. Cybercriminals seemed to anticipate this interest, and were ready to capitalize on the donations pouring into the Trump campaign in the wake of the verdict.

“Criminals like to use events like this, to base their scams on topical events, things that people are interested in, where people are more likely to click on links,” says Duncan. In the wake of the October 7 attacks and subsequent conflict in Palestine, Duncan says Netcraft identified several donation scams, targeting people on both sides of the conflict.

“They're interested in getting cryptocurrency from anybody. And they're not bothered about which political persuasion they might have,” says Duncan............

    Here’s the original thread

Can see what we thought real time

Why does that matter? You were lied to by the media about what Trump actually said.

I posted the video above that shows that the media narrative that said Trump was talking about the Neo Nazis when he said very fine people on both sides is 100% false.

Do you still think Trump was talking about Neo Nazis when he said very fine people on both sides even after seeing the video?

Carson Markley was on a train journey, traversing the Canadian Rockies with his family, when he learned that Donald Trump had been convicted in New York.

“I texted my mates,” says Markley, a Democrat who lives in Detroit. “And it was this joyous, very celebratory moment for all of us.”

    And then?

“Then the anxiety started creeping in.”

He’d spent the trip in and out of cellphone service, compulsively checking his phone for updates. Now that the update he’d waited for had come, he was having invasive thoughts.

What if Trump finds a way to use this to his advantage?

“I’ve read the news, I’ve seen the polls, I’ve talked to guys at the bar who said they were once Trump supporters but that they can no longer support him,” Markley says. “Logically, everything I see makes it seem like the convictions weaken his chance of winning. But I can’t help think: What if it helps him?”

Markley suffers from what he called a sort of “PTSD” from years of scandals that have failed to remove Trump from public life. The affliction presents with an unusual symptom: It makes some critics of the former president believe that anything bad that happens to Trump may end up being good for Trump.

It’s a shared worry among liberals and Never Trumpers who have seen so many supposedly damaging or disqualifying events come and go over the years. “Grab them by the p---y.” “Very fine people on both sides.” The first impeachment. The election loss. The election lies. The insurrection. The second impeachment. The criminal indictments. The civil cases. The damning critiques by former aides and advisers. The sinister rhetoric about “evil” Democrats, left-wing “vermin” and political “retribution.” Nevertheless, he has persisted.

And now, conviction in a jury trial. On the day of the New York verdict, a nurse in Lorain County, Ohio, grew apprehensive after listening to her co-workers and patients talk about how Trump would motivate his voters by railing against a crooked judicial system. When the news alerts went off at a bar in Silver Spring, Md., a bartender asked a patron whether it meant Trump could no longer run for president. “Oh,” the bartender said when he learned Trump was still eligible. “Then this will be good for him.”

“I think it probably martyrs Trump even more,” says Michael LaRosa, a former spokesman for first lady Jill Biden.

“He’s running as the world’s biggest victim,” says Frank Luntz, a political consultant and Trump critic, “and Americans rally around victims.”................

I've said what I thought about his statement, more than once, as have others

Ah so once you are shown video evidence that the media narrative about Trump and the very fine people on both sides is a lie you don't have a comment? How convenient
Man let that bone rest. I love how you will argue till you die about this but trumpers loved it they got the green light to be nazis and have done so. Trump is a master of plausible deniability and you have proven he is pretty good at it.

Can you comment on the subject at hand?

Donald Trump says that business leaders who do not support him should be “FIRED for incompetence” in his latest Truth Social post, extensively quoting a news item about corporate tax rates.

The post comes as the share price of his own company, Trump Media, continues to fall — down 12 per cent on Tuesday and 40 per cent since the guilty verdict in Trump’s hush money trial on May 30…..

Demanding a response to question that’s already been answered a dozen times?

    How typical
You left out an important detail. I posted a video that clearly shows that media narrative about Trump was an obvious lie.

Has a video that showed the full quote been posted before in the previous discussions of the subject?

I will. You demonstrate here, as you do in every other topic you comment on, that you either cannot or will not engage in a nuanced, factual discussion.
And he DEMANDS that other people answer questions while ducking almost every time he gets found out to be posting lies. It’s tiresome, disingenuous and just plain cowardly, IMO.

Do you still think Trump was talking about Neo Nazis when he said very fine people on both sides even after seeing the video?

So he wasn't talking about the Neo-Nazi's but the "very fine people" were the 10% of the right wing nut jobs who weren't Neo Nazi's but martching with the Neo Nazi's? Gees, that's better.

And yes, he came back in that statement after he was well into it and said he wasn't talking about the Neo Nazi's and other racist to cover his arse. But given that they were indistinguishable in the crowd, he was talking about Neo Nazi's too.

Maybe people who don't want to be lumped in with Neo Nazi's should avoid marches with Neo Nazi's ... just sayin.
