Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

Yet with all this gibberish coming out of his mouth on a daily basis, he's still leading in the polls. Imagine if they have a debate and Biden looks slow/old. Trump could easily win in November. It has me extremely anxious.

Biden better make an executive move on the border to get that better under control. He has a good economy and jobs numbers.....gotta get in front of this buffoon.

well he still says he is president so I agree on the fool part. poor Obama still in office.

If you understand his mental illness, it makes sense.

Barack Obama humiliated him in public. A BLACK MAN made him feel small. He's fixated now on that black man, he must defeat and humble that black man. That black man lives rent-free in his head.

Problem is, Barack Obama isn't in office anymore. Trump can't take revenge on him. But ye gods how his NPD wants to. It HAS to. But it can't. So it runs in maddened circles like a rat in a maze.

Want to really drive Cheato Jesus insane? Get Obama to start campaigning on Joe's behalf. Get Obama to crow about jobs numbers and a rising standard of living, have him (in a classy way) reference all Trump's legal problems, his failures and defeats. Wonder aloud how Trump's going to pay for all this winning. The rat that passes for Trump's ego will go absolutely ape-shirte.

Hell, a well-timed joke (from a BLACK MAN) about how crime numbers would be even better without Trump's 90-plus felony charges would drive the NPD-thing completely bonkers.

Lost in all the idiocy that Trump spewed this weekend was this gem. He vows to force schools to quit requiring childhood vaccines by removing federal money. 🤦‍♀️ I guess he likes for kids to be sick and get horrendous, even fatal, complications from preventable illnesses?

Yes Trump is very thin skinned, but for whatever reason Bill Maher gets under his skin in a way that others don't
    ==================================================

Former President Trump took a swipe at talk show host Bill Maher, who made jokes about his trip to the border last week, calling the comic and liberal commentator the “worst,” with “bad ratings.”

Bill Maher is the worst! He never got it, and never will. Bad ratings, a big fail on CNN shot, major case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. Not worth the watch,” Trump wrote on Truth Social early Saturday morning.

His comments came after Maher ripped into Trump’s “dueling” border visit with President Biden and the former president’s Supreme Court appeal to remain on the ballot during the opening monologue of Friday’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO. HBO is owned by CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.

“Did you have a good leap day? It only comes once every four years. We got to enjoy it when it happens. Trump would not acknowledge it. He thinks it’s a woke plot to make Black History Month longer,” Maher said while kicking off his monologue.............

Donald Trump supporters are targeting black voters with disinformation, including AI-generated fake images of the former president, campaigners have warned.

Cliff Albright, the co-founder of Black Voters Matter, a group that encourages black people to vote, fears so-called “deepfake” images are being deployed to influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

His warning follows a BBC Panorama investigation that discovered dozens of deepfakes portraying black people as supporting the former president.

Mr Albright said the fake images were consistent with a “very strategic narrative” designed to convince black voters to back Mr Trump in November’s election.

The BBC investigation claimed that fake images of black Trump supporters, generated by artificial intelligence (AI), are “one of the emerging disinformation trends” ahead of November’s election.

But Panorama found no evidence directly linking the deepfakes it uncovered to Mr Trump’s campaign.

One deepfake, created by Mark Kaye and his team at a conservative radio show in Florida, shows Mr Trump smiling with his arms around a group of black women at a party.

It was shared on Facebook, where Mr Kaye has more than one million followers and, from the comments posted below, it was apparent that some users believed the AI-generated image was real............

“I’m not claiming it is accurate,” added Mr Kaye. “I’m not saying, ‘Hey, look, Donald Trump was at this party with all of these African American voters. Look how much they love him!’

“If anybody’s voting one way or another because of one photo they see on a Facebook page, that’s a problem with that person, not with the post itself.”..........

The Republican Party wants to have it both ways: appeal to white Christian nationalists and peel off Black voters from Democrats; play up the “great replacement” theory while wooing Hispanics. MAGA Republicans often pull off such jaw-dropping hypocrisy because the docile right-wing media will not ask Republicans hard questions nor point to obvious contradictions. However, now and then, the gap between Republicans’ pretense of decency and their real attitudes toward Black people and immigrants becomes glaring to all but the most rabid MAGA voters.

On race, Trump’s apologists, including those in “respectable” conservative quarters, insist — despite his rhetoric (e.g., “shirthole countries,” “very fine people on both sides”) and downplaying endemic racism in policing — that we cannot assume he is a racist. We also are expected to ignore, one supposes, his vendetta against the Central Park Five, his real estate company’s history of discrimination and his failure to appoint a single African American to the circuit courts or the Supreme Court. His slurs against Black female prosecutors and vivid social media posting showing him attacking Black Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg get brushed off by his supporters, who portray him as the real victim.

The media periodically does cover his abjectly racist language, as when he quoted Adolf Hitler on blood purity. Then, voters not entirely cocooned within the right-wing media bubble realize he and his party abhor fundamental American principles. But soon, journalists contend with straight faces that Trump has a real shot to win over large numbers of African American voters. That assumes such voters are as easily bamboozled as the red-hat-wearing cultists.

And before long, defying attempts to normalize him, Trump opens his mouth to spew forth a string of mind-boggling racist remarks, leaving his apologists with egg on their faces. He insisted in a speech last week in South Carolina that his indictments and mug shots are why “a lot of people said that that’s why the Black people like me.” He also proclaimed: “These lights are so bright in my eyes that I can’t see too many people out there. But I can only see the Black ones, I can’t see any White ones, you see, that’s how far I’ve come.” He persisted: “That’s how far I’ve come. That’s a long way, isn’t it? These lights. We’ve come a long way together.” Such casual racism wins plaudits with the white-nationalist crowd but reveals his true mind-set.

Likewise, he left no doubt about his noxious bigotry toward immigrants at his unhinged rant at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “They’re coming from Asia, they’re coming from the Middle East, coming from all over the world, coming from Africa, and we’re not going to stand for it. They’re destroying our country,” he said. “We have languages coming into our country … they have languages that nobody in this country has ever heard of. It’s a horrible thing.” His plan to round up and deport millions of undocumented immigrants goes hand in hand with his effort to dehumanize them...........

    I think it’s this ad:

Now ( according to this not established "news" source), Trump is a confused old man also.

AND.....WHY don't Republican women support Nikki Haley in greater numbers?
Thinking about Trump's history with various women in his past....and the things that he has said to them or about them.....WHY do women in the year 2024 ignore that and vote for him anyway? Why?

Because they’re in a cult, Steve. It’s sad and stupid, but it is what it is.

This clip discusses the people who have so clearly embraced Trump - not really Evangelicals, they are a subset of evangelicals - Christian Nationalists. This is a state legislator from Texas who sees the danger. All Christians need to speak out like he is doing. Christian Nationalism is cult-like.

Sinéad O’Connor’s estate has said she would have been “disgusted, hurt, and insulted” at her version of Nothing Compares 2 U being used at Donald Trump’s political rallies.

A joint statement from the late Irish singer’s estate and record label Chrysalis Records demanded the former US president “desist from using her music immediately”.

It said O’Connor, who died last July aged 56, lived by a “fierce moral code” and had previously referred to Trump as a “biblical devil”.

The statement said: “Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings.

“It was with outrage therefore that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of Nothing Compares 2 U at his political rallies.

“It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil’.

“As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately.”……..

Here is another article focusing on Trump being OLD...
