Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

The military would do that and not outside groups right?

That article was insane fear mongering because the establishment is terrified that Trump will win.
It could be either. An independent group of experienced officials could get together and put together a plan of how to address various things. Then, if they see those situations, they could file legal actions, notify congress, etc.

Trying to get the military not to obey their commander in chief would be treason.
Trying to get the military not to obey a LAWFUL ORDER would be reason for discharge and potential punishment. Reminding them that they are not allowed to follow an UNLAWFUL ORDER is simply doing what needs to be done.

So, I was just following orders is an acceptable defense? Maybe you should listen to some folks who are actually in the military to get the proper perspective here.

The article is purposely exaggerated partisan speculation. McCord was involved in the fraudulent FISA warrants on Carter Page.

What unlawful orders did Trump give the military while he was President?

Those groups and lawmakers don't want Trump to be able to use the insurrection act.

The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a United States federal law that empowers the president of the United States to deploy U.S. military and federalized National Guard troops within the United States in particular circumstances, such as to suppress civil disorder, insurrection, or rebellion.

Why would they preemptively be trying to prevent Trump from using the Insurrection Act? Are the Democrats planning mass protests and civil disorder if Trump wins?

Let's review the oath that everyone who joins any branch of the US military takes:

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

The Oath of Office (for officers):

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the _____ (Military Branch) of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

Do you see how, "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;" is listed before and has priority over following anyone's orders?

Because Trump is a serial liar that has no grasp of reality and he will label a school walk-out by 1st graders an insurrection. Hell, response to losing the 2020 election included an attempt to activate the Insurrection Act. When he was thwarted, he organized his own insurrection.

You’re really grasping at straws here. Trump gave numerous illegal and/or improper orders while he was president the first time. He had to be informed that they were illegal. I read where one time a cabinet member just ignored the order, knowing Trump would get distracted and forget about it. If he gets elected again, he would only appoint people as crazy as he is, like Flynn who wanted him to call up the military to seize the voting machines in 2020, which would have been illegal and would have led to a Constitutional crisis.

You should actually read something other than far right propaganda sometime.

It’s always funny how quickly you completely change your point each time someone points out how wrong you.

“I am your retribution.” - Donald Trump

You tell me what that means. And don’t give me any bullschlitz about it being “just words”.
