Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

Okay. Well you and I are not in total agreement on school choice or on parental rights. Im assuming that you are closer to Harris‘s policy position than I. Unless you are trying to tell me that she and I agree on either one of these points?

I am telling you that Harris's positions were all over the internet, despite your insistence that nobody ever talked about them. Her education positions were posted in this thread. You have steadfastly ignored that fact. Why?

YOU said she was an old time republican like there should be tons of moderate conservative policy positions of hers I should agree with. You are hammering me for specifics and yet you cant back up your “old time republican” policy remark by naming a single policy. And then you claim I dont debate honestly.

Well thats the pot calling the kettle black. So perhaps it is better we dont converse until you hold yourself to your own standard. I‘m perfectly fine with that.

I won't do your work once more so call it whatever you want. You have provided NOTHING so far in multiple threads, only asking for others to do the work. Yes I could easily find the evidence of my claim but as I wrote, YOU need to do some work first and not just move the counter to another topic again and again with no inclination to participate in earnest.

Just from reading the replies to him I can tell he hasn’t changed one bit. Still refusing to have an honest discussion, still pushing fantasy right wing talking points about Harris. We all know why he wouldn’t vote for her and it had nothing to do with her actual policies.

I still believe he rather likes what Trump is doing, and I am not convinced he didn’t actually vote for him and just doesn’t want to admit it. That’s just my opinion, which I am free to have - for a while anyway.

Unless I am mistaken the core issue is why a conservative such as myself could not or would not vote for Harris. I have said repeatedly that I dont see that she and I agree on much from a policy perspective. So whether they were all over the internet or not isnt the point.

We discussed school choice and parental rights as examples. I told you where I was on that. You told me where you come down on that issue. I‘m going to assume that Harris and you share the same basic view. So whether she spoke widely on the subject or not wont change the fact that we probably dont hold the same position on those two topics.

Is that a fair assumtion? Now we could go into other topics if you like. I listed several including the border among others but it safe to say that Harris D-CA has many left leaning policy positions that are at odds with this conservative from TN.

So to sum it up. I might be inclined to vote for a moderate Democrat like a Joe Manchin or Harold Ford. Those moderates dont get the nomination these days.

I think it is safe to say there isnt enough common ground between Harris and myself to justify supporting her with my vote.

If you arent willing to hold yourself to your own standards. I dont see the point. Do what you want. I dont care.

    Well Optimus,

Let me ask you a simke question. Would you vote for someone with whom you disagree on most every major issue?

As far as education, specifically, I support parental rights to be made aware of things that affect their children. Kids are not property of the state. Secondly, I favor school choice.

School choice is a local issue. The federal government has no role in it.

Parents have always had parental rights. The recent iteration of the "parental rights" crusade from the right wing was all about fear mongering over race and LGBTQ+ issues (anti-DEI, anti-CRT, anti-Trans) so that Republicans can force Christianity onto kids in school and to get angry/scared lemmings to support and vote for Republicans.

And yet you say race had nothing to do with your vote.

If you arent willing to hold yourself to your own standards. I dont see the point. Do what you want. I dont care.

You can just start to debate in earnest - then you will get my reply. But as long as you "debate" by making others do YOUR job, then I will not post my reply. So yes I stick to my standards but you by your lack of actions, do not deserve any answer until that changes :)

You can say they are local issues but they often come up in national campaigns. The Federal government does provide funding to state and local education programs. So it is relevant.

You can take your baseless race card implication and shove it up your arse. You know nothing about me. It shows your ignorance that you pull that out when you have nothing better to say.

Being called a racist by folks like you means nothing these days. Its thrown out so often and so easily and without merit, that it has become meaningless. Just another meanngless ignorant slur.

Im over wanting or needing or having any interest in a reply from you. Keep it to yourself.

    And that's how I'm no I'm right.

Do you acknowledge that Democrats and Harris wanted to pass conservative immigration legislation, but it was blocked by Trump's backers to create an issue to bash Democrats?

Think what you want. Everyone who disagrees with you is a racist or a bigot? You cant point to a single post of mine that is either one. That someone doesnt agree with you is all it takes. Thats plain ignorance. But that is your right.

You can say they are local issues but they often come up in national campaigns.
Republican candidates are the ones bringing these issues to national campaigns in an effort to garner fear. There's no other national entity campaigning for expanded school choice, library content, bathroom access, sport access or expanded curriculum.

I acknowledge that an immigration bill did not pass in an election year. Do you acknowledge the Biden administration excerbated the immigration problem and needlessly let it fester for three years. Might very well have been a factor in the election loss.

Wait a sec. The fact that Trump wanted the bill killed in order to campaign on border reform is, indeed, a fact. Do you acknowledge it or do you choose to stick to your own constructed reality?
