Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

(Bloomberg) -- Nineteen Republican attorneys general called on Costco Wholesale Corp. to end its workforce diversity policies after the bulk retailer become one of few companies to defend its practice.

The state officials said in a letter to Costco Chief Executive Officer Ron Vachris on Monday that the retailer’s decision to defend its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts goes against the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling against affirmative action. Last week, Costco fought off an investor proposal at its annual shareholder meeting from a conservative group seeking details of the risks attached to so-called DEI policies.

“I’m putting Costco on notice to do the right thing and eliminate discriminatory DEI,” Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird said in a statement.

The pushback from state Republicans comes as President Donald Trump’s new administration lashes out at DEI programs and tries to eliminate them in the federal government and corporate America. Walmart Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. are among companies that have rolled back DEI programs under pressure from conservatives.

Costco declined to comment. Last week, the company defended the legality of its DEI programs, saying that its “commitment to an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary.”..............

The attack on DEI initiatives is one of the most economically shortsighted decisions imaginable. And yet, those pushing this agenda call themselves fiscal conservatives!
Integrating marginalized groups into the workforce doesn’t harm anyone—quite the opposite. It lifts people out of welfare dependency and poverty while creating role models for younger generations to aspire to.
The outcome? More taxpayers and consumers contributing to the economy, driving growth, and increasing overall societal revenue. It's not just morally right; it’s economically smart.

Jesus Christ on a popsicle stick. Every day is worse than the previous one.

And after 4 years of cruel, hurtful, harmful and non sensical chaos in 2028 people will be saying "(The Democratic Candidate) hasn't explained why I should vote for him/her. Just saying how bad the GOP is"

And we'll have them saying it here

Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions has been instructed to “cease all work” under the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility HUB at Jobs for the Future.

President Donald Trump’s anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion executive orders are already impacting higher education where Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are concerned.

On Friday, Rutgers Graduate School of Education’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions announced it was canceling the center’s HBCUs and Registered Apprenticeship Mini Virtual Conference to appease Trump’s recent anti-DEI executive orders enacted days after he took office.

“We were very excited to bring you the HBCUs and Registered Apprenticeship Mini-Conference next week—an event designed to amplify the voices of HBCU leaders and students planned by our team,” university officials wrote in a post on Instagram explaining the move.

The virtual event, originally planned for Jan. 30, has been canceled to comply with two executive orders: “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing,” issued on January 20, 2025, and “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity,” issued on January 21, 2025...........

Meh. Just ignore them. Let then sue if they want to and don't succumb to the intimidation like all the other weak CEO's/companies. Costco has actually been getting good support from regular people from defending their DEI program.

So after throwing money at HBCUs eight years ago, Trump is now set to shut them down...

Well, we can relax now. Trump has turned the valve releasing all the water from the Pacific Northwest down to California.

So the president is now interfering in states local affairs. I bet he deny any responsibility when that water is needed during the summer.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Job-seekers hoping to join the new Trump administration are facing a series of intense loyalty tests, with White House screening teams fanning out to government agencies to check for “Make America Great Again” bona fides and carefully parsing applicants’ politics and social media posts.

President Donald Trump has long said he believes the biggest mistake he made during his first term was hiring what he considered to be the wrong kinds of people. Now, aides are working aggressively to ensure the government is filled only with loyalists.

Negative social media posts have been enough to derail applications. Those seeking jobs have been told they will have to prove their “enthusiasm” to enact Trump’s agenda and have been asked when their moment of “MAGA revelation” occurred.

One federal employee said they briefly considered buying Trump’s crypto meme coin in case the president’s team asked about their voting record……..

Donald Trump has fired a senior official at the top US labor watchdog, triggering a chorus of criticism from unions and in effect paralyzing the body until a replacement is confirmed.

Gwynne Wilcox, a member and former chair of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), described her dismissal as “unprecedented and illegal” and pledged to challenge the move.

Her removal leaves the board with only two members, and leaves it without a quorum of three members required to issue decisions, per a 2010 supreme court ruling.

Wilcox was confirmed by the Senate, and her term was due to continue until August 2028. She had been appointed chair of the NLRB by Biden last month, before Trump appointed Marvin Kaplan, a Republican-appointed member, as chair last week.

“It’s been an honor to serve as a Board Member and Chair of the National Labor Relations Board,” Wilcox said in a statement. “As the first Black woman Board Member, I brought a unique perspective that I believe will be lost upon my unprecedented and illegal removal. Throughout my time at the NLRB, I’ve worked well with my colleagues and the dedicated career staff who uphold the mission of the Agency. I will be pursuing all legal avenues to challenge my removal, which violates long-standing Supreme Court precedent.”……..

The Air Force’s top civilian leader has directed the closure of a working group that since 2008 has sought to eliminate arbitrary barriers to women’s service, such as by providing equipment for female pilots who for decades relied on gear designed for men.

The Air Force Women’s Initiatives Team is among the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal government ordered to cease operations under executive orders signed by President Donald Trump as he took office.

A memo signed by acting Air Force secretary Gary Ashworth on Jan. 21 and obtained by The Washington Post directs the “disestablishment” of the Women’s Initiatives Team, “effective immediately,” along with other Air Force working groups that dealt with disability, LGBTQ and racial issues.

In response to questions from The Post, the Air Force said in a statement that its offices are “implementing all directives outlined in the Executive Orders issued by the President, and ensuring that they are carried out with utmost professionalism, efficiency and in alignment with national security objectives.”............

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has told former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley that he is revoking his security detail and clearance and ordering a review of the retired general's conduct to see whether his rank should be re-evaluated, the Pentagon said.

Hegseth, whose first day at the Pentagon was Monday, directed the Defense Department's inspector general to look into "the facts and circumstances" surrounding Milley’s conduct "so that the Secretary may determine whether it is appropriate to reopen his military grade review determination," Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot said.

The statement did not provide specific reasons for the moves, although Defense Department chief of staff Joe Kasper said, “Undermining the chain of command is corrosive to our national security, and restoring accountability is a priority for the Defense Department under President Trump’s leadership.”

Man, I would be so pissed if my service was questioned by any Guardsman, much less, this guy that wouldn't last a year in the Regular Army!

He Pete, there is NOTHING you can do to review Milley's "military grade", he's a flag officer and it takes an act of congress to effect change of his rank. The only thing that can be done is a court martial and I doubt there are any Generals out there that would convict Milley of a criminal act.
