Iowa caucus 2024 (1 Viewer)

You posted all that "talk" about all those "polls" that showed Haley would finish 2nd in Iowa. How did all that "talk" about all them "polls" turnout yesterday?
Here is how it turned out...Ron D received 21.2% support and Nikki H received 19.1% support. Oooo ....such a big difference. Haley will be either a strong 2nd to Trump in NH or even squeak out a first place win. Let's see the NH polls on Thursday or Friday.

    Still not 2nd place,.

Do you mean she'll "likely" be a strong 2nd to Trump?

What percentage of the vote equals finishing a strong 2nd to Trump in NH?
I feel if she is within 7 percentage points or less that will be a "strong second place".
If Trump were to win more convincingly than that I think her campaign will be on life support.
She really needs to come close or even win.
Like I said, let's see the NH polling on Thursday or better yet on Friday.

While I'm posting let me add this...
Ron D. WORKED VERY HARD in IOWA.
He went to all 99 counties of Iowa and sincerely tried his best.
Ron D. deserves his 20.2 percent support.
Yet Haley cut in into the big lead he had over her in that state and she finished with 19.1 percent support. That has to be disappointing for the DeSantis Camp. They are not gona really even try in NH.

We had snow in NJ and as I reminder I am an Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher. My school district has a delayed opening today and that is why I've been able to do some posting....yet my time here is up. I need to get out to my car and clear off the snow and then head off to school.
    Bye everyone.

Yeah, I saw many videos like this one. In one case they were sticking pieces of paper into popcorn buckets. Nobody seemed too concerned about any sort of document control. Just crazy….

Why do we still have caucus' in 2024? Or even since 1984?

It seems to be such an inefficient, antiquated, arse backwards way of choosing any elected position much less the party nominee for President of the United States
I was so glad when Colorado switched to primaries a few years ago. Caucuses are complete bullshirt.

I saw Ramaswamy dropped out and endorsed trump. He got 7% or so of the votes. So since they are so aligned in their... ahem.. mentality... that whomever would have voted for Ramaswamy, would easily vote trump instead.

Same reason(s) we don't have nation-wide ranked choice voting - "because reasons"

and I don't think that Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson combined was 7% so even if all those voters go Haley Trump still pulls ahead

The Iowa turnout was only 14% of the registered Rs in the state. And then roughly half of them want somebody other than Trump. I don’t think that’s a huge win for Trump. He can’t win the general that way, especially if 70% of Haley’s voters say they will not vote for Trump if he’s the nominee.
The sad thing is of those who don't want Trump, 99% of them will vote for him anyway if he is the nominee (and he almost certainly will be).

Would be better if some of them at least were like "no chance I'll vote for Trump, I'll vote anyone else" but alas, they all are more for the Party than they are for America.

I was heartened by the responses of Haley voters. Going from memory almost 70% said they wouldn’t vote for Trump if he is the nominee and 40 some % said they would vote for Biden. I don’t know if they actually will or not, and polls everywhere are somewhat suspect, but it made me feel a little better.

Thanks for sharing that discovery. I am so looking forward to New Hampshire. I sure hope I am not disappointed.

This is NOT what I was hoping for. Even though she is FAR ahead of DeSantis...this is NOT good enough!

Polls should be taken with a grain of salt. We shall see if NH voters are less cult-like than Iowa.

How many of those Haley voters were Democrats?
