A couple of days ago, one of the main US-MX border points of entry was blocked by 1000's of migrants demanding entry into the country, which caused chaos for those who lawfully cross the border on business, for work, or for delivery of goods, both ways.

Lawful border crossings are getting progressively worse across the border, and drug cartels are finding it easier to move product, as the CBP has to transfer personnel and efforts to the processing of migrants.

It's not different on MX's South border. Yesterday, ~5000 migrants stormed into Chiapas all the way to the INM building (INM is immigration) running over fences, barricades, and elements of the National Guard. They are now taking over an ecological park in Tapachula, Chiapas, which it's going to be severely affected, as it's been the case with just about everywhere migrants squat.

Unfortunately, Juan Trump (that's Donald Trump's pet name for the President of México) was bamboozled by his "friend" Donald into making MX a "lobby" for migrants trying to reach the U.S.

Many people would argue that migrants are "good for the economy", but that is not always the case. Billions of dollars leave the U.S. economy every year, because migrants send money from the U.S. to other countries to support families there. The biggest destinations are India and MX, to the tune of 100 billion dollars in 2023 alone, according to the Bank of México (kind of like the MX version of the Fed). These billions of dollars do not circulate in the U.S. economy.

Speaking of inflation, the past year, the U.S. dollar has lost ~20% of its value against the MX peso. One of the main reasons for it, is the amount of money being sent to MX from the U.S. And MX is the U.S. 2nd largest trading partner.

Gregg Abbott is a lot of things, but I don't blame him for his attempts at curbing the hordes of people demanding entry into the U.S., even the busing of migrants to other States, making some put their money where their mouth is, like the Mayor of NYC, who was so welcoming of migrants, until he he got a taste, then went crying to the federal government for more money, while the shelters were at full capacity; shelters which BTW serve the NYC poor as well.

And please, no one mention a wall. There is a wall. A wall can be climbed; a wall can be dug under.; holes can be punched through walls.

I don't sound like that... I am questioning why people who leave a particular situation make the trip from so far away and bypass multiple countries where their situation is ameliorated. Surely people coming from as far as India, Ghana, Bangladesh, etc. can find safe heaven in many places before reaching the MX-U.S. border. Even people Ecuador, or Venezuela could stop in Panama, Costa Rica, even MX.
You're asking the wrong people. None of us here are leaving those areas to come to the US. You need to ask the people who are actually leaving those areas why they are coming to the US instead of other places.

Only they have the answers that you seek.

What many don't realise is that the habitable areas of the earth are in danger of being greatly reduced over the next decades. Either due to floods/drought, extreme heat/cold or a mixture of all of these.

So we will see large migrations. The question is how we will deal with this. Isolate ourselves in our own little luxury world like the Capitol in Hunger games or will we be willing to share resources with our neighbours

And remember. There are no guarantees that WE won't become refugees. No one can predict exactly where and who will be hit hardest.

When I see this topic here in the MAP forum, I will often think about a group of people like the Rohingya, who essentially have nowhere to go, and are subject to great brutality from others. Their choices are to stay where they are, and be attacked/murdered, or risk getting passage on some ship and hope they aren't turned into slaves or trafficked etc.

    Psychological projection.

Doubling down on the "I know you are but what am I" juvenile behavior after being called out for that behavior multiple times.

    This is the progression:
Farb: I know you are but what am I?
Others: Saying "I know you are but what am I" is juvenile behavior.
Farb: I know you're the juvenile one saying "I know you are but what am I," but what am I?

Capped off with another, I know you are but what am I response.

That's some seriously high level meta projecting going on in that post.

I know exactly how Farb will reply. He's that predictable. There is no good faith, honest discussion to be had with him. Good faith and honest starts internally with ourselves. It takes self-awareness and self-accountability. Without that foundation, a person is not capable of a good faith and honest discussion with others, even if they really want to.
    Thanks for proving my point!

How low does one have to sink to mock someone for showing physical signs of compassion for the suffering of others?

I sometimes cry when I see photos and videos of the people suffering at the border. Despite what toxic male mythology BS says, that's a sign of strength, not weakness.

What's weakness is being too afraid to express one's true feelings. What's depraved is seeing any fellow human suffering and not having feelings of compassion and sadness for them.

If I saw this poster suffering, I would genuinely feel and express compassion and sadness for them. even knowing they would probably mock me for it. That would be their loss and their issue, not mine.
Even when it is a stage photo op in a parking lot? Do you still consider that strong and brave?

It's doesn't matter to that poster. They chided another poster a while back for posting something here that could hurt Biden politically.

    Thanks for proving my point!
The exact BS, childish response I expected from you. I didn't prove your point. I showed that your point was a bunch of hypocritical BS.

Do you still consider that strong and brave?
Notice how Farb completely ignores that I said mocking someone for showing compassion is sinking really low. He ignores that, because even he can't deny the truth of that. So what does Farbe do instead, he misrepresents what I actually said.

And this is another predictable thing you do, you constantly misrepresent what people say to make a false argument.

I said, "showing physical signs of compassion for the suffering of others" and didn't say a damn thing about "strong and brave."

I said my showing compassion for others is a strength not a weakness, but I didn't say a damn thing about anyone else
It's doesn't matter to that poster. They chided...
Let me stop you at that lie. I did not chide another poster. I told them I was concerned what they said might contribute to helping Trump get elected.

It's funny how you take drive by pot shots like this at people every chance you get, but you never respond to anyone anytime they point out you've re-posted something that is a complete lie.

You're like the kid that runs around yelling "fight, fight, fight" to other kids, but as soon as someone challenges you, you disappear in a flash. It's petty, insecure behavior.

Can't wait for your "I know you are but what am I," whiny, sniveling response. You and Farb both bore me, son.

South Carolina’s Republican senator Lindsey Graham warned of retribution against Democrats amid Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal cases.

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday, Graham, a staunch Trump ally, said without evidence, “The Democrats keep calling president Trump a felon. Well, be careful what you wish for. I expect there will be an investigation of Biden’s criminality at the border.”

In May, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in a historic criminal hush money trial that involved adult film star Stormy Daniels and Trump’s attempts to influence the 2016 presidential elections.

Speaking to Bash, Graham continued: “This country is going to have a reset here and using [Joe] Biden’s standard of glorifying political prosecutions, a Pandora’s box has been opened. Whether he steps down or not, accountability is coming to him.”

Bash, who co-hosted the first presidential debate between Biden and Trump earlier this week, replied: “Sir, you just warned of retribution.”

In response, Graham said: “Yeah. I warned that the Pandora’s box opened by the Democrats is going to be applied here.” The senator went on to point to the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis, saying, “I think the criminality of the Biden border policy should be looked at.”

He also pointed to the Democrat-led House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, saying, “A January 6 committee looking at what happened on January 6, I hope there’ll be a committee looking at border policies that have led to the rape and murder of lots of Americans.”…….

CNN has to stop giving a platform to Trump shills. Graham sadly is one of them. He's a propagandist MAGA now.

This is SO stupid. The republican house voted against the bill to fix the border and now they want to procecute Biden for the issue THEY help create!

Their Supreme court just said that they couldn't because Biden, as president, has "SUPER ABSOLUTE INDESTRUCTABLE IMMUNITY". But I would love for them to prosecute Biden if Trump wins just so that I can watch their SC tie itself in legal knots again to try and explain why Biden is allowed to be prosecuted for "THE BORDER".

    Most Corrupt Supreme Court EVER!

    They’d find a way

And anything Biden did concerning the border is more clearly an “official act” than anything Trump is claiming

Just tell me how they can fix the lack of water and ever growing climate changes that makes their countries uninhabitable? And which part of the world are the major contributors to the Climate changes?? Not the poor south and central american states. So those countries that are causing most of the problems should just turn their back of those most affected by said issues ?

And I saw you quoted the bible previously but you forgot this part
Population is one of the biggest causes of climate issues. How about we start there

And look what they did to the Native Americans…
This right here shows why so many have so much distrust and disdain for "outsiders." They're afraid that "outsiders" will treat them just like they treat "outsiders."

When you treat all "siders" with respect, compassion and empathy, then you don't live in fear of how any "siders" might treat you. You get burned now an again, because of bad faith people with bad faith intentions, but you live a much happier and joyful life overall.

I highly recommend giving it a try.
