The GOP in both the House and Senate have released their budget resolutions. Both aim to produce $1.5T to $2T in tax cuts- while slashing spending.

The Senate budget committee is hearing their resolution today and resolving over 200 proposed amendments.

The House has released their budge resolution:

    - $4 Trillion debt-ceiling increase
    - Defund Medicaid entirely (effectively)
    - Reduce SNAP by 20%

So the plan is apparently to pass the CR and skip town so that the Senate can either pass same or shut the government down. Yeah right.

The thing about this CR that no one is talking about, it is that the GOP wants to shut the government down! They have this radical belief that life will go on without government providing the services that we elected them to provide. In particular, this current current administration believes government purpose is to defend and make money...THAT IS IT!

The House CR passed with the 1B in local DC budget cuts. Mayor spent 550M on “downtown redevelopment” to keep Caps and Wizards.

I feel like no one cares how many fed people and soon to be local ppl in the area are getting laid off. Regional recession incoming.

I think it's complete retaliation for DC being a deep blue district. Sucks.

They don't care what they hurt or what they break.

What is so bad about the Republican CR? I know it raises defense by about 6% and cuts about 8%, which I don’t like, but what else is bad?

Edit: I read the first post. It also:
    - $4 Trillion debt-ceiling increase
    - Defund Medicaid entirely (effectively)
    - Reduce SNAP by 20%

The SNAP cut is horrible, but I’d like to understand the Medicaid defunding. Wouldn’t the states still be required to continue Medicaid? Red states are the biggest takers of Medicaid, it would devastate them if they stopped.
